- So what is DeFi 2.0 all about? Is this just a new, temporary narrative or a paradigm shift? What are some of the most interesting DeFi 2.0 protocols? And what does this all mean for the already existing DeFi projects? You’ll find answers to these questions in this video.
The crypto space loves new narratives. DeFi Summer, Layer 1 Summer or “jpeg” Mania to name a few. It seems like “DeFi 2.0” is the new kid on the block and has recently been gaining more and more traction.
Although the ideas behind DeFi 2.0 are still crystallising, in general, the concept refers to a new breed of DeFi protocols that try to solve some of the main pain points of the already existing projects by experimenting with the protocol design and tokenomics.
The experimentation centres around the innovation in the liquidity mining design and is very often associated with protocols owning their own liquidity instead of temporarily renting it out via liquidity mining incentives.

Turns out a lot of DeFi 2.0 was Ponzi games, and I don't think it's fair to group Tokemak with Olympus because Tokemak and Rari offer much more than Olympus. Wonderful video, as usual!

I'm experimenting with anchor and spectrum protocols. Terra's low gas fees have convinced me. Also I like the concept of algorithmic stable coins. Decentralization cannot be achieved by stable coins that rely on some fiat deposit that can be confiscated at any time.
Preach. I am hoping that we are going to see UST listed on Binance soon. That would result in higher demand for UST and due to the way LUNA backs it we are going to see a drop in LUNA supply therefore LUNA will be mooning.

Similar tokenomics, different narrative
It's based upon a scam: carbon credits and climate catastrophism for the purpose of centralizing political and economic power.
"Global warming" climate catastrophism campaigns can raise a lot of money from well-intentioned yet uninformed people, but they are not sustainable.
Kilma, however, seems to even be having a hard time getting its feet off the ground.

Being in NFTs and getting into DeFi, I see a lot of similarities. Project hype before release, release of project with high floor before reveal, then dip in price just before reveal, and an even bigger dip after reveal. Paperhands (day traders) vs Diamondhands (long-term investors). If the project has enough steam and promise to keep investors, price (value) may rise. If not, those investors will likely follow traders and sink the project’s value even lower.

Great video! Fantom has its own fork of Olympus - Hector DAO $HEC - by using the fantom chain the small investor has access to this great tech with both fast & cheap gas fees
Was really hoping you would cover FEG token and their SmartDefi protocol. I think they may be the leaders of DeFi 2.0, it sounds absolutely insane and I can't get my head around all of it

Why do I feel like this still doesn't solve the problem of liquidity being maintained in the protocol? Whether its vesting in the traditional liquidity mining model or through bonding . . . its still kicking the can down the road right?

I was reading about Ohm's staking mechanism and to support their high apy, for each bonded asset, they create a thousand new ohm tokens to go to the stakers. Doesn't this just debase the currency, and in the end if I were to invest now (as the price of ohm is supposedly supposed to become stable and low), even with my massive yield percentage, my investment would at best stay near its current percentage? Despite this the market cap is increasing regardless.
They treasury that backs each OHM eventually grows faster than the supply growth after the expansion phase

OIP-18 is a scheduled apy reduction rate at different levels of coins circulation, similar to a halving. That has proven to in its short price history drive price upwards. Once the greater bull market turns bearish I can see ppl turning towards defi 2.0 protocols as a safeguard. My ohm stack has been akin to a high yield savings account on steriods
If there is one basic finance concept that is just missed with cryptobuffs, it's inflation. There's nothing wrong with inflation. In fact it is necessary because it encourages velocity. Of course it can become a problem if expansion exceeds real growth, but this libertartian anti-inflation mania is just misguided.

Good video, but isn’t OHM just adding a new layer to the problem, since they bond the inferior liquidity pools ? And check out DFI, they’re about to launch stock tokens (obviously you can Liquidity Mine them) so that to me seems at least somewhat a step forward towards longlasting „products“

I am also staking the LP tokens in Spectrum protocol, which is a simple, yet effective reward compounding protocol. the APY on stocks-UST is about 30%-70% via Spectrum, and I am definitely enjoying reduced volatility.

iv watched a few videos on olympus dao and still can't see how it's not a ponzi scheme. it would be good if you could explain it in more details as most other youtubers don't really do a good job of it.

Olympus Pro now allows new protocols to own their liquidity by providing bonds-as-a-service for a 3.3% fee for protocols that want to stop impermanent loss/falling victim to mercenary capital with the old pool 2 method. Marc Cuban, Tim Ferriss, Kevin Sacca, Grimes(Musk's ex wife) are all 3,3ing this brilliant of all brilliant ponzi schemes!

learning from history, but other Ohm forks like TIME, SPA, FANTOHM we have seen the backing price drop and the protocol native token fall below the backing price. It's not a true floor price. I am not sure if this has happen with Ohm though.
