I would love to see the Lockheart dress in that fabric. Perhaps make a toile of the bodice part first because it could take some adjusting like the Esti did. Have fun! 💖
Hi, I’m so pleased to hear you say you will first make a toil, so many people don’t and are then disappointed with the fit and can’t correct it. Also some don’t look at the finished garment measurements before making a decision so you reaffirming that is great to hear. I’d love to see the Lockhart dress but equally whatever you make in that fabric will be great. I also love the top you are wearing the colours really suit you. Have a great holiday ❤
I love the idea of the lockheart dress in your fabric and my second choice would be the Zadie dress. I look forward to seeing which ever dress you choose.
Please do the Lockhart! I love Helen and I think thay pattern with the fabric would look fab on you! No time like the present to tackle installing a zipper! An invisible zipper foot comes in handy 🥰
Hi Becky I hope you are having a great holiday , I also bought the lock hart dress pattern so that would be my choice I haven’t made it yet but it’s definitely on my list to do . Happy sewing x
I like option 3 the short dress maybe extended to just above the knee or the playsuit which I think would be adaptable with a Blouse underneath for cooler months.
Gorgeous fabric! I love the lockhart jumpsuit. I think the fitting of the top is fabulous 😊 I'd love make this one too. .... don't be afraid of the zip, you can do it 💪 ❤.
I love the top you have on 😀, I think make that in the pink/red with a pair of shorts if you’ve enough fabric, so it’s a play suit look that you can mix and match with other pieces, if not the make the Zadie , that style really suits you 👍 , everyone makes the salt water 😳and I’m not keen on the other pattern 😖, but then what do I know 😂 , look forward to seeing what you do 😀
Oooh too many good options. As soon as you said the Lockhart though I was like “that’s the one”. Push yourself, you can do the zip no bother! Can’t wait to see what you decide 🎉
I feel the same about the saltwater slip my hips/bum are my largest part by far and I’d have to grade but the hacks Ruan mentioned make me think it’s doable, love the Helen’s closet one and look forward to seeing your choice
Hi Becky. Good call on making the spaghetti straps of a sturdier bias tape on the last two possible dress options. I made up the Helen's Closet Orchard dress (free pattern) last month and the directions had the tip of putting twill tape (or a no-stretch ribbon will work too) inside the bias tape for the straps so they don't stretch out over time. I thought that was brilliant. I have worn t-shirts under the dress, but find the straps tend to make the stretch fabric underneath bunch up. For that reason and the fact that you want layering options to extend the seasons of wear, I'd pick the Zadie dress. Happy travels, Antonia
I’ve just made my first saltwater slip dress. I’m a g cup bust but I found it came out a bit big and low at the back. I think my adjustable straps weren’t a success. I would have been better making them a fixed length. I’d make it a size smaller next time . Love the Lockhart , not seen this before
I’d love to see this in the Zadie dress. I think the flow of the skirt would look totally glamorous in your fabric 😊
Thank you x
I vote for the Lockhart because Helen will have excellent instructions on zipper installation. It’s fun to learn new things! ✂️❤️✂️❤️
Thank you x
