Yessss I always relate it to his younger self , especially after I read phantom novel by susan kay and knew about Erik's childhood and how his mother mistreated him , and how he'd dream of gaining her love but never did , and those "tigers who come at night" were the people of his village who made his life hell , my heart gets broken every time I think of it that way , that little dreaming boy who only wanted love and affection but was made into a monster by their poisonous feeling 🥺
