3:36 Star Eyes's melody quote 😍. This version is absolutely astonishing: the level of interplay, the interaction, the way of playing of Mike Moreno and that one of Ben Wendel ❤️🔥
This made it into my mix......nice work from these two guys. That might be the most beautiful guitar I've ever laid my eyes on. The kid playing it ain't to shabby either!
beautiful choice !!! i was waiting for that one indeed. Moreno is for me one of the most emotionally intense performer that catches your soul literally !
Thankx a lot Mr Wendel, discovering your fantastic musicality, (( i guess you sound very fluid with a tenor)) here because of Super Mike ( he's so groovy with those spaces ), yeah you know guitarists ! :) Thank you for those beautiful vids with friends.
Good god, this sounds amazing at every level and I’m only listening on my iPhone - sending it to the media room next - absolutely fantastic playing...other comments have already highlighted why.
Mike Webb doesnt take balls though. It should be a normal thing, happening far more often. Its music, people play by the rules too damn much while it should be free. And i especially disagree with the whole thing around standards where you cant alter things too much because it will mess with the standard. Thats bs, standards were written to improvise over, so goddamn improvise and not stick to playing it perfectly note for note. Where is the fun in that? I would get bored after 5 minutes.
Isn't he just breaking up voicings with some bass notes? In interviews he always downplays the busyness of his style, saying he's all about the rhythm rather than brainy complicated voicings.
Actually interestingly working through it, they are mostly pretty standard grips. He just a way of making them sound really good. Peter Bernstein works a similar kind of magic....
It's 25.5" Scale- I wish Builders would stop re-doing the 335 and Strat [ semi hollow set neck Strats are needed] over and over and be more original like Marchione...who has created an Archtop Strat [ only better] Moreno is getting better and better- not that he needs to ....
@@robertkscorpio3680 It definitely helps the notes in the lower register better distinguish themselves when playing those low dense voicings. I visited Stephen's shop a couple months ago and played a 24.75" and 25.5" back to back and it was immediately noticeable. I'm working with a custom builder at the moment who's making a set neck, technically chambered but similar construction to the Marchione, 25.5" neck because $20k is a lot of dough to drop on one instrument...
Just when i think I start to understand Jazz it all goes away. How is this On Green Dolphin street and not an original composition ? I can't pick out any phrases from Dolphin street
Love the guitar work on this version of On Green Dolphin Street, but for me it seems that the mic isn't picking up enough of Tenor voice throughout the recording. Ben seems like he is too far away from the mic or something.
My god Mike's comping is unreal.
@@ricardopinzon549 Let's see a vid of you comping
After 2 years this comping still amazing
@Markus Jordan ewww
This is so incredible, their swing feel is so good it’s like you can actually hear the drummer
Please continue this series forever! All of the jams have been so great, especially the one with Larry Golding
Yeah!!
Beautiful reharmonizations and awesome performance !
Every chorus of Mike comping is almost a a free lesson on his own approach about this subject.
Crazy accompaniment!!

I like how Ben picks up little phrases of Mike's in the outro, throwing them back. Great ears

They are both so locked in to the time
Moreno is great, one of my favorites!
You bet your ass those first 25 seconds are being transcribed tomorrow. So good!
Did you mange to transcribe it? I cant seem to get it :(
Two of the world's greatest jazz musicians. Current generation leaders.
i love Ben but when he stares directly into the camera like that i feel a powerful, visceral fear
Some of the best guitar tone I’ve heard! Especially considering he’s using fingers.
Truly amazing! thank you for posting! From Brooklyn, NY.
beautiful choice !!!
i was waiting for that one indeed.
Moreno is for me one of the most emotionally intense performer that catches your soul literally !
Anyone knows what brand Mike shoes are? They sound great!
Amount of a feetback i assume they are Ecco.

Wow Mike's hair is really something else! Amazing playing from both! Mike's playing really is so relaxing... :)
Ben Freidkin kind of an Emo Peter Parker look.
...and I was just thinking about a sax guitar duet and how would a sax "comp". Beautiful!
Mike is unbelievable!
Ah, another hefty, generous serving of dopesauce from chefs Wendel and Moreno!🤗😎
Totally got star eyes watching this
Serious playin right here
Maestro Moreno, Always quality!
When are you guys putting out an album!? This is amazing!!
Great time players! What’s not to like?

Appreciate the balls it takes to re-synergize standards.
Thank you, sirs.
More please.

Awesome, brilliant, the best I've heard so far :-)
Sheesh. And the floor? How do they get it so clean?
3:11〜 beautiful
Hey man! Great job!!!!
Fantastic 👏🏼👏🏼🎸
Fabulous..
Give you some sort of experience because you play and hear. The same I have gotten.
Amazing! Wow
I can play a bit of jazz but fuck, Mike is not messing around with those chords near the start. I don’t even know what he’s doing.
wikichris it's a chord melody thing of a standard called "there will never be another you"
I meant the actual chords.

Ooooh Mike you.... silly!
What is the grey box with one valve before the amp?
Tube preamp I believe, Roccaforte, there is a youtube video on the preamp that you can find with a search.
Nice! Do you have perfect pitch Ben?
🤙
Sweet vid! Lol I think u groan before u play.
likearc I think that’s the sound of him voicing the notes
More of THESE please!
Anyone know what kind of guitar he's playing?
It's a Marchione semi-hollow!

But they still got a different one.
Could you cover " je joue de la musique" by calogero

Fresh jazz.

The original melody is there. And they play over the same changes
this timing is unhuman

No because they can't do that. As it stands.
I can't stand that Ben buttons the top button on his shirt
hahah
He looks cute.
it's a deliberate thing...
