I dont understand the point of taking the wood away from gibson once its been cut....Its not like your going to glue the tree back together. I can understand stopping them from bring more wood in.
I would guess its to punish them / study it to determine if it was illegally sourced or something like that. Whatever their reason, it gave birth to some unique guitars
I'll see what I can work up for you. It is definitely an interesting topic and worthy of a stand alone video. Usually for videos like that, I like to have one of each guitar at the same time - but I don't see that happening haha!

From time to time, I get them. Unfortunately, not all that often though unless it is a limited edition of some sort
