Just to be clear, I am saying this in full seriousness. Farming has a LOT of tech going on, and I would totally watch content on how to build and operate a farm from you.
Glad I’m not the only one lmaoo
Yeah, closed source tech
There are so many robotics applications right now!
You know john deere just laidoff a bunch of people. Not sure if farming tech is booming.
Yeah unfortunately a lot of the interesting stuff is proprietary tech that costs 4 or even 5 digits for the equipment plus access fees, and almost none of it is open source.

Just more evidence to switch to Temple OS

And there's no CrowdStrike on regular Windows, and the reason there's no CrowdStrike on TempleOS is because big companies don't use TempleOS, lol.
watching lots of fireship videos has, if nothing else, thoroughly communicated to me that farmers/people who consistently touch grass are necessarily happier than most tech workers.
I wanna be a grass farmer. Imagine the sheer joy of such a sweet existence
@@luckylanno until you encounter snails
My grandparents are farmers, and I often spend a few weeks a year helping them out, besides getting to work with animals it's awful work. Working in the heat, sometimes rain, then having to deal with all the mud, animals getting sick, vehicles breaking down at the worst possible time, always smelling like dirt and cows, and not being able to take long vacations unless you hire a bunch of people to do the work for you (this is especially the case if you have a small family farm where you wouldn't hire people).

@@sarthak290 That's where the pile of shit-fall at the end is for.
Small correction: Google's AI was not given the English problem statements for the IMO. The problems were first formalised in Lean by a group of humans; the AI didn't translate the problems itself
aaaah - thanks a million. That's a ton of a difference, whew :-)
That doesn't matter since the inherent problem statement didn't change. It was just translated.
@@curious_banda Agree to disagree. This is not stupid translation, otherwise an AI could do it. It's formalizing the problem (which involves deep understanding), so that a stupid machine can find the solution.
It seems like experts will still be needed for a while. But more and more people will fall into the “midwit” category, for better or worse.
Definitely not a minor correction. They turned the problems into effectively a program. Then let an LLM solve the code problem. LLMs are well known for being able to solve small contained code problems, so no surprises when the hard part was done it did well.
They should really be embarrassed about how they are advertising this. Olympiads have time limits and you don't simply keep guessing the answer until you are correct. The LLM had both, it was handed a well defined problem and then allowed to keep refining its solution effectively by searching and guessing. (ie. classic AI search algorithm)

@@tovirumelores7921 :(
It's neither.
Tech has been democratized, meaning any idiot can make something and have it be used by others.
80 years ago tech was filled with either very smart people from other disciplines or self-made visionaries who brute-forced learning IT.
40 years ago computers were available to the masses but were mostly used by smaller companies for data crunching and were not connected + games in the home.
20 years ago individual computers were slowly becoming obsolete as the internet and then smartphones took over.
Each step had the pool of users diluted with half-wits, scammers, frauds and state-actors whose influence has been to pollute, mislead and corrupt the internet to suit their goals, including meme-eaters.
There's still gold but it's much, much more difficult to be found and very few who can appreciate and use that gold to further their goals. When it is found, you get fancy new games or software made.

Math Olympics, yes I took part too. Imagine having AI sweep human competition off the floor from now on...
I don't really see the problem. Calculators have existed for a very long time and we happily used them to calculate things faster than we can. If it is a case of speed to solve a problem then I am not crying about it.
Yeah, Olympiads are just the start - professional mathematicians in a decade are going to be solely concentrated on working with the future iterations of these systems.
I did too. They're honestly fucking dumb. I regret it. Huge waste of time. Could've been skating or gaming instead.
@@TheStickofWar It's more that it's an incredibly difficult skill that is seen as an apex of human intellectual achievement - the idea that not only will machines *evaporate* the need for that skill but actually make it impossible for a human to ever compete scares the bejesus out of people that love this subject. Cameras already store a crapton of metadata anyway, like location, date, camera model, etc. The only difference is that currently it is not digitally signed.

2:45 why are people discussing this but not the oxidation issue that was also allegedly confirmed as a separate issue later after the news ran with the og story?
This! This! 1000 times this! Gamer's Nexus put out a video more or less pointing out that the microcode explanation is likely a red herring to mask the real (much, much worse) issue
And I tend to trust them, as they're extremely careful with compiling and showcasing evidence before making claims like that.
They deliberately said the microcode voltage thing first so that most media would run with that, as that's a maybe problem and users might just keep their faulty part
If all media had "your Intel CPU might be rusting" they would have way more RMAs, and that makes the line not go up as much. We can't have that now, can we?

Haha feeling pretty vindicated right now. Dropped out of a research math program because I realized that LLMs using automated theorem provers would eventually solve, yes Olympiads - but in about a decade, these systems will be streaming out *correct* mathematics at a rate significantly faster than the mathematical community could ever hope. Now, I'm definitely going to sound unhinged here, but this is the birth of post-human mathematics - the future of mathematicians will be to decode and apply this formal soup explored by machines.
I highly doubt this. I use ChatGPT to assist with my PhD work in economic theory and it simply does not understand how to do pretty basic problems. It can regurgitate a proof it’s been trained on but it does not “think” correctly at all. It gets obvious things wrong and just makes leaps in logic that are wrong.
Perhaps some AI that is far more advanced than ChatGPT 4 is better but I’m not holding my breath that AI will replace mathematicians any time soon.
But maybe Alpha Proof is way way better than ChatGPT so maybe I’m wrong.
go and watch Neetcode's video on AI hype and then feel stupid that you dropped out of that program. Have fun.
