How to make an Owl wreath with poly burlap mesh - a step-by-step tutorial.

- Learn how to make this unique owl wreath using poly burlap mesh. I really enjoyed making this owl and hope you do too!
I will show you several different sunflower petal techniques that are used as the feathers.
For the poly burlap, you will need a full 2 rolls of white (I'd buy a 3rd roll just in case. Accidental mis-judging with cutting the mesh can happen!), 2 rolls of natural and 1 roll of the milk chocolate. As for the zip ties, you'll need approximately 20 of the 4" and at least 300 of the 8" zip ties.
There are 9 total petals for each wing and 12 total petals for the body. I used 4 white for the neck “feathers”. And then a total of 28 light brown and 42 white for the head.
Altogether, you need 19 10x10” pieces of the dark brown, 39 10x10” of the light brown, and 61 10x10” pieces of the white.

Wow! Watching your video was an aha moment! When you folded the mesh square and sealed one side of the triangle, it enabled me to make (for the first time) uniform burlap petals. Your owl was an expression of fantastic creativity! How did you think of overlapping with white mesh? It gave depth to your fantastic creation!

Pricing is always tricky! They say to take the price of supplies and double it, then add your time. In order to keep it so I’m not pricing myself out of a sale, I have mine set at $149. I think it’s worth more, though.

@vivianharding9108 pricing is hard. You will definitely get back what you put in it, plus a little for your time, but unfortunately most people don’t want to pay much more than that.
It would be nice to say how many feathers need to be cut and what colors they should be, so u can prepare ahead of time.

I usually get it from either Craft Outlet, The Wreath Shop or Trendy Tree.

Oh my! I couldn’t tell you how long it took me! Altogether, I’d say probably 6 or 7 hours.

Hi it's me again. I was wondering if you think it would look ok on smaller wreath rings?
@@roniwalend300 it should. I would zip tie the petals on the body a bit higher on the petals in order to make the “feathers” smaller and more proportionate.
I know this is an older video, so I’m not sure if you’re getting comments, but are you saying to use two 14 inch frames for the head and body

Absolutely love this wreath. It is my next project. Now for the white petals did you also cut them in 1/2 like you did with the natural one when layering it with the chocolate?
I doubled the white to make sure it was good and crisp! If I cut it in half, you might see the color behind it through the white making it look dingy.

Absolutely. I have a weird phobia of rubber bands! 😂 That’s why I don’t use them!

What kind of wire did you use and where did you get it from?
I believe you’re talking about the wire I used to attach the eyes? I used stem wire that comes cut at 18” length. I got mine from Joann Fabrics, but you can find them at Hobby Lobby and Michael’s. Here is a link to the wire through Amazon. amzn.to/3R4ZvWv
I can’t find one of those square pieces of glass
