Here's my theory on the running about Nick, wonderful old school projects like this bring out the inner child and in the moment we forget our true age and are living as we did when these things came into our lives, I find myself doing the same thing, and fantastic series of vids love it
Surprising how much fun can be had chucking a little free flight 'plane around in a field. Lovely. Takes me right back to my early aero modelling days as a schoolboy, 1960s! Thank you.
With tow line gliders, you can have "auto rudder". Gentle spring action has rudder for turning, but a line runs forward to the tow hook. The tension of the tow line pulls the rudder line forward, straightening the rudder whilst in the tow. But when the tow line comes off, the spring applies the predetermined rudder for turning. Just look up any old A1 or A2 glider plan on Outerzone - or invent your own mechanism if you don't want to benefit from the wisdom of the ages. 😀
Hi Nick, that was fun, you could have looped your band down the fuselage and then up and over the wing to the front dowel possibly, anyway that was a fun morning. You're trying to remember Tom 'Hallam' (Maxfliart), such an inspiration ... although I don't remember seeing him run around his fantastic flying fields 😁👍
Loved this, 56 years young and looking for a hobby. I never knew you could use a bungee to launch. Any info on how the system used, looks like fishing line with a pendant I take it to aid disengagement from the glider?
IS the tow hook is optimally located.? various clues suggest that it is not.! the tow hook NEEDS to be located such that the model will ascend 'like a kite' at launch. !!!

Thanks I plan to experiment with that type system 👌
Beautiful spot to fly! Looks like it performs pretty well. I miss chasing free flight models around!
Thanks it keeps me out of trouble 😂
Very nice! Just I started to build a sunbird glider 1.6m.balsa laser cut kit.

Running around like a kid with their first free flight model. ;)
Bonus: running helps in keeping warm.
That’s the beauty of being a lone pilot childhood is east 😂
I was cooking by the end 😂

Sincere thanks just watching your build video of the cadet. Many thanks for your help

I have two hooks and fitted as per the kit positions
YES!😁
Enjoying it :-)
Why so much dihedral?
Stability I think I only built it ❤
If you need to ask ,go back to knitting!
@@tonywright8294 I fly a hang glider A.H.
Nice!🙂
Stop running about Nick ! Robin
I can’t help myself I Need help 😂
Standing in front of the camera helps me to fine tune my x-ray vision. Thanks!
Are you going to put micro gear in it just for fun 🙂
Yes mate perfect for light wind on the dunes
@@NickChittyFlying I do like the broken peg idea though. Saved the glider from more damage that way.
at launch, the model should be held nose-up, at an angle that anticipates the nearly vertical ascent that is about to occur.!
I am being careful it’s free flight
Good job you put carbon tissue on the body. 🤭
Good test 😂
