I was at this concert. This was the first concert appearance of the bearded Jim in LA. As crowd started filing in before the show started, I walked between the front row of seats and the stage to get to my seat. I was walking alone, the crowd was further back.. The curtains were still closed on the 4 or 5 foot high stage, and some bearded guy was sitting on a stool, front and center on the stage. As I walked by him, I simply looked at him. "Hi, Jim." He smiled a bit, "Hi". Unbelievably, no one else apparently realized who it was. Cool. The concert, of course, was epic. Long live the doors.
What happened during their performance of "Celebration Of The Lizard"? On the tape you can hear in the middle of the song a stagehand screams out "get back to your seats!" then the show ends when they finish playing. Was everyone rushing the stage? Also, wasn't this the performance where Jim swang above the crowd on a big rope like Tarzan? I remember reading that in the liner notes of this CD
I met Jim in Santa Barbara, he was with Kenny a kid who lived on a yacht in the harbor, I was with my boyfriend then Phil Thompson at the time we enjoyed the day.
I’ve written a lot of poetry about the doors since then, and still enjoy the music at 72 in Utah/ painting my artwork!
@@jamesflolid1394 Was this pre or post-beard? I know he was famous but didn't have Mick Jagger or Paul McCartney levels of recognizability. Apparently, in his last few weeks in Paris, hardly anyone recognized him.
@@daviddeltoro1808 yeah big change. Went from heart throb sexy to heavy old and bearded smoking cigars scary but cool lookin
He did give a sh*t anymore
Doors opened in my mind when i was turned on to the doors at 11 i grew up alot that day
I went to the first of these
Concerts at the Aquarius theater. It was the only time I ever got to see the Doors, I was very happy to be there!
The best band of USA
Thank you Carlos.. It is. Considering the actual English have the corner on most if the rock market.. Long Live the Doors/Jim!

@@bluewendigo672 Jim Morrison is 25% why the doors are so good
@@bluewendigo672 F off . U try listening to 2 hours of Jim Morrison without the other 3
Jim’s lyrics are amazing and oh he’s a fantastic singer great , but he doesn’t add anything else to the sound hardly with any instruments
The other 3 are some of the most talented creative musicians with the perfect ear for the sounds of their instruments , ray is amazing and so is John and robbo
They also wrote a fair bit
But jim Morrison’s lyrics were amazing too
That’s why it’s 25% each in my opinion . Which is the right opinion ✋
Man, it was a whole different time. '65 to' 70 was an absolute explosion!
That's an incredibly well-behaved crowd for returning to their seats, with house lights down, and waiting quietly and patiently for the boys to come back out.

This is one of the most complete concerts ever. I’ve heard almost all of them, the natural progression of this playlist is just perfect.
I know.
One of their best!
68 matrix isn't bad either or Pittsburgh 70....
They recorded 13 complete concerts in 69-70. This is just one.
@@ivyrose1222 Show was not filmed.
The amount of talent here is literally out of this world
Jim screamed melodically! That's hard to do. I always liked his dramatic screams. The songs were mesmerizing and went on forever, perfect acid trip music. The eerie tone broke on thru.

@sloburnjo nice. The party doesn't have to end at 50.
Jim morrison was one of a kind, truly!! I never found a voice like him in my existence
I was 14, Berkeley, went to their dressing room, sat on Jim Morrison's cake. (I'm sorry😬) I still owed Ray Manzarek 2 packs of Kools. I lived on Telegraph Hill, I wish I had run into him. Thank you for these sounds; there's so much new to me here, and I've heard Everything. I'm 68 now, go figure.
Haha great shares I love it yeah I don't know where this guy gets his footage from but it's fantastic

I think it's true that the fact that this show took place the day after Apollo 11landing did have a positive effect on everyone - it sounds like everybody was in a great mood; there's somethng magical about this...wish I was old enough at the time to experience this as it was happening; I agree - this is by far the greatest, most authentic Doors concert I ever heard!
IT'S JUST AMAZING HOW LITTLE LIVE VIDEO THERE IS OF ONE OF THE MOST ICONIC BANDS IN HISTORY!!!#🎆🎇🙏
There is plenty, just search youtube. Not like today but Hollywood Bowl, in Europe, Canada, and more. England too.

@@jimyelektric1126 It was very expensive to film concerts in those days and as much as we love the Doors they were an underground band in their day. Not like the Beatles and the Stones where almost everything was filmed or recorded.

Yes, absolutely..
I've been a Doors fan since the early '80s, but never heard Mystery Train/Crossroads before. Thank you, Jesus!!
Great sound, break on through that Door!

No matter what who says what, he is unique
that drum interplay and the stuff going on between all three of them is nuts especially during light my fire. talk at being at the top of your game. wow! what a great document of the Doors at their best.
I can never state my love of the doors enough, but sometimes need to say the this wasn't just morrison, this was four distinct elements making the doors sound. with out robbie, john, and ray, there was no doors. oh yeah - Peace Frog!

Like those people when they hear the Doors and go "oh its Jim Morrison" drives me crazy.... Yes when you love the Doors this much it can actually hurt😎
they should release this live concert on a album best live performance i have ever heard
Released officially in 2001 by Bright Midnight / Rhino. Cat # RHM2 7907
I would give my life to go back to the Isle of Wight. The best times of my life. Gracias Jesus.
I'm envious of anyone that is witness to the fact that Jim actually existed because he seems mythological at this point.

He did exist and was a misunderstood genius!
My grandfather Roy Campbell was also a misunderstood genius.
You can read about him wilkepedia.
I understand... lucky You!
The doors are true musical magicians... worth listening every time!
I love Densmore's chops during organ solo of light my fire.!
Hear Densmore hammer his snare like that at 11:16 made my day. Nice chaotic recording, sounds like some old effects and compression helping a bit with the dynamics. How do they always sound so good live, especially back then....
technology has gotten "better", musicians and engineers have not
Like their cohorts, Led Zepplin, The Doors were studio-quality musicians and were able to improvise on the spot.
Jazz baby Jazz, them is the 'cool kats', there aren't others as...
Amazing Performance that I'm Surprised didn't Get Released Until 2001? & I'm Just Now Discovering in 2022! Minds Were Made to be Blown!

The Doors tuning up was a cool af Doors song 🎵

Mr Morrison what a legacy
My Lord what an awesome band & original rock god James Douglas Morrison - All genius Robbie & Ray & JohnD - Unbelievable.
Sinister and glorious.
Unbelievable show...Life changing
Morrison was amazing. In Back Door Man, you hear him sing flat at one point, on purpose, and make it work. That's hard to do.
The Doors is good old ass kickin Blues. Kick up the music and play it loud.
Still, every time I listen to it, the best.
Que música que voz que cambios de ritmo esplendor al máximo geniales maestros del arte del rock vive por siempre las puertas
I'm 66 years old. I loved Morrison then. I love him even more now. My natural high. Drink my Kentucky bourbon. Don't smoke pot any more. 3 shot's oh my Kentucky bourbon hits the spot. Yeah I am a female. I can drink any male under the table.
Would give you a good go with my Scottish whiskey

C'était une étoile filante j'adore cette folie extraordinaire il ne faut pas oublier qu'il avait l'âme d'un poète il restera éternel dans nos cœurs
We had spent the week setting up and Mic ing everything etc
The 1st show was to adjust everything and the second show was to be the one.
As it turned out , the 2nd show was full of the real energy and all.
Jim even swung down from the rafters on a rope and much more.
Very intimate doors concert almost like being at the shiskey in the early days.
But the capture on the tape just didn't hold the energy hoped for .
So most was not used.
But for the fans it was an epic event .
LA rockshows are now
Patterned after this .
But this is the first show. The one starting at midnight was epic.
Should have filmed it also but this was just after Miami and so ????
No Photos . Just in case .
With Jim you just never knew .
I can’t seem to say amazing about the Doors without the work of Manzarek. He holds the whole thing down as tho in complete trance with Jim. Truly an unsung hero and for all intensive purposes leader of all the musics entire music arrangements all the while not missing out on the add lib open space to fill w jam due to Jim’s complete time signature of his own, Manzarek had to make hundreds of adjustments during live performances in order to accommodate Jim’s contact intoxicated time signature flunbbs. Manzarek was flawless in the recoveries of each arrangement. A true musicians musician. 👍👍rip Ray Manzarek or shall I name thee the ushering of memesis Dyanysis.
Robby was doing some fancy footwork also 😂
@@lindaclark9925 well Linda he did in fact write the only doors song that went #1 in the country. 🔥
So I reckon that’s enough Koodos to get your name in the rock n roll hall of fame. To be fair Robby was indeed a high calibre improvisational guitarist with a beautiful self developed middle eastern desert snake charmer style.
@@christianhuntercascon888 that's what I said- fancy footwork ! Ps....that song is like some eternal touchstone to that era in a pure, ever new.. way...; It is so, so good. And, i think all of the doors worked every bit of their hearts mind , souls and bodys to get the doors to that pinnacle. However, John 3:16!!!!!!! 🎯 It's how to make sure you don't get wasted. Jim, i do pray he's in heaven -he was up against a devious spirit world willingly almost , however, without the good Christ !.... we all loved Jim's brilliance though and mostly his love
@@christianhuntercascon888 he was a powerhouse .they all were.
@@lindaclark9925 I’d have to agree w you. 👍
The Doors were soooo far ahead of their time, so far above the heads of most of their audience at the time. Stoned or confused, the audience were lame in the first 2/3'rds of the show. The vibe in the room doesn't get right until the last set. You can hear them trying to be cool, but raptly attentive, in the first set. Expecting something other than the music/celebration/trip Jim wanted to give them, because he was always 5 steps ahead of everyone else. Soul Kitchen in the last set may be the best version they ever performed. Rock ain't dead, and long live The Doors! RIP Ray & JDM.
he was always 5 steps ahead of everyone else....5 beers ahead, lol
Soul Kitchen
@@seanhennessey9869 pal you're still aboard of the ship of fools.
Not ahead of their time. They exemplify the time. The end.
@@bluewendigo672 reuben is the manager of the ship of fools
I thoroughly. enjoyed this setlist by the Doors, being a longtime fan since the late-60’s. I thought their arrangement and performance of Touch Me was excellent for a concert setting, considering that the whole reason they wrote the song was to include horns and strings on a song. Jesus, thanks for all the wonderful downloads you have given us over the years.
improvising is what makes this a special gem I think. Quite unlike later shows with the same setlist.
What. .? No the horns were Rothchilds idea....not the doors the band all mostly Jim did not want the horns.....
The play of Light my Fire is the Version of the Mexico 1969 Concert. Lindavista Mexico City Forum Vazquez Brothers!
THE GROUP WAS ON A VERY SHORT AND WILD RIDE WITH JIM AS THE MAIN ATTRACTION NO WAY ANYONE COULD THINK SOMEONE COULD GO AT IT FOR LONG RIP JIM MORRISON♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
That's what I said, basically. Bright, and short... (comparatively) though impressively still long = 7years.
Great things aren't meant to "Last Forever". RIP - Jim & Ray.
Wild stuff ✝️☮️🎤🎹🎼🥁🌍😎✌️😇
The obvious ability of Jim to croon like Sinatra is best demonstrated here in the song blue Sunday and the improv on peace frog is well played .
The doors are a very tight and powerful trio
when they wished to show off their ability like in this small medley .
The Later show is even better.
Regards.

One of the greatest rock acts of all time, including the legendary Jim Morrison. His own family was very surprised when he became a top vocslist. His own father that is him, "You're no singer". But, after his death even his own father was very impressed at his son's achievements and very proud, despite previous years of estranged relations between the two.
His dad was coached by Jim's sister in that video. He was even before the WW II generation. He thought Jim was a fock up no matter what he did.
TRUTH!!! 🦎👑 🏴☠️
Jim's Father was a "REAR ADMIRAL" in the Navy. A person can't get much higher in rank than that.
He was from a completely different generation, I don't think the "Father, I want to kill you" - lyric in "The End"
from their first album helped matters either. Dig ??
@@davidhirsch5705 It was a quote from mythology. Maybe his dad could not understand that but he was a very well educated man.
@@davidhirsch5705 Captain Douglas Morrison commanded the US naval forces in Indochina that reported being attacked without provocation by North Vietnam in the 1964 Gulf of Tonkin incident. That event started the unpopular U.S..conflict with Vietnam that lasted until 1975. It also resulted in a promotion to admiral for Morrison. It also never actually happened.
I recall a sort of buddy (he worked at the music store where I spent most of my money) letting me listen to Doors on headphones. It was Break on Through but I never heard it with the same dynamics. Until today. It was to promote the Doors box-set which did NOT contain that version of Break on Through. My basic point is that demos were always how the bands wanted to sound to their audience. This allows you to hear Jim bitching at a random person.
He came down to earth but Nobody understood..
I just wanna say john densmore unbelievable especially on peace frog
The Doors live and on top form, nowt better !

I love that one picture of Jim standing at the mic where his eyes are shadowed dark as it makes him look like a lion... As far as leads go he definitely was a lion. Greatest lead in music history. Much missed for the what IF as the other 3 doors were lost without him.
How true my man,how true. Those photos of him shirtless with beads are called "The Young Lion Potographs.
Just to add on to your comment myself personally think JDM was, and I know this is a bold statement but I saw the Doors at Boston Arena in 1970 and no other frontman comes close, Jim brought you the 1 thing all the others could not, the unknown, the sheer magnetism, girls loved him and guys wanted to hang with him, and that voice, damn, that fn voice.
@@edwardcarmody3336 I sadly only have been to Jim's grave and I got too see Robbie and Ray with Robbie's kid singing vocals doing their version of the doors. it was still a great show but nothing like a show with Jim.

Simplemente geniales. Jim y su voz su pose en el escenario atrapaba a todos. Había un imnotismo general en cada canción. De los mejores hasta hoy. Su música no pasa de moda sigue vigente.
