So glad you guys are doing this! I love Suburban K9 so much. My dogs went from not being able to go outside, in a car or out in public - to literally going EVERYWHERE with me❤ I always try to learn new things from your posts!

This was a great video!! Very informative. When everyone was talking about bad breeders, Nelson I immediately thought of Katie’s 1st doodle…Sully. The meanest 10week old puppy ever!!! It was your expertise, Nelson, that helped Katie make the decision to give him to a rescue. When the rescue came to pick Sully up, he turned & bit Katie in the face!!! No reason. I sent this to Jay & Jason because there is sooo much helpful information to use with their puppy, Royce. If you look at my picture, you’ll see Tully(Toaster) & sweet McKenzie. It was Tully’s behavior that sent us to Matt…in 2008 or 2009. We can’t thank Suburban K9 enough for their help thru the years.

with my dog i got around the vet recommendation by leashing my dog up and placing him in a papoose while walking my senior dog. whenever a dog would try to sniff his feet i would treat him and allow him to briefly sniff them and observe my well behaved senior dog interact with other dogs and people. this also helped with house breaking.

Did you vet recommend doing that so you could socialize your pup with a lower risk of parvo/distemper?

5 minutes in and I already have a comment. My GSD/Husky mix (I am guessing no DNA and a shelter dog) has been at my retail job where he had 3 young kids petting and hugging him. (i told the children not all dogs like this and explained the fear of being trapped etc) but when I was going to hand a cig out my car window to a homeless man and he decided to reach in my car window across my body to get it he almost got his hand taken off. Now my guy gave a warning air bite right next to his wrist. Some dogs usually certain breeds that have that protection sort of built in to why they were bred have a good idea of what is friend or foe behavior.

Absolutely!!! We tell all of our clients that if you have a guarding breed, you need to KNOW guarding breeds. They were certainly bred for a purpose. Thanks for taking the time to drop a comment!

I think one of the main reasons is that some people who know nothing about dog ownership are getting breeds that they cannot handle instead of starting off slow with a shih tsu they dive right in with a pitbull, cane corso, or a malinois not knowing how much management and training these dogs need. some also see a breed of dog acting out of the norm and think that all dogs of that breed must be like that but did not see the training and education that the owner put themselves and their dog through only the result.

Totally agreed! We always recommend starting with an "easy" breed. Thanks for watching and taking the time to leave a comment!

for some reason ive seen more aggressive goldens than ive seen aggressive bully mixes heck my shih tsu mix gets along better with bully like breeds than he does with goldens and labs.

I think about it like this people want to pet your dog instead of asking the owner you should ask the dog if it OK to pet you, I don’t like when people come over to me and try to touch me so why do people think it’s correct for them to do the same to our dog? I had a miniature pincher a long time ago he died but he loved to get padded and picked up most of the times, if he didn’t let you pet him. He wanted to be around everyone anyways. Now I have my dog Luna she always been really anxious to be around people. We have worked it out and her own pace. I took her anywhere with me everywhere so people come to me and say your dog is really cute. Very fluffy. can I pet her? and I always say always say I don’t know. Let me check with Luna. She is always by my side and I look at her if she steps behind me if she doesn’t want to be petted. The point I want to make Is The trainers! Don’t actually Teach the people to respect the band race of the dog! They have boundary’s just like everyone, and just like everyone else’s should be respected as well!

@@SuburbanK9DogTraining been bitten twice in a public park by dogs on leashes when i wasn't even trying to pet them. jogged by one and it just lashed out and bit me and the other when i was walking with my gf they had it on a long leash and bit me. something tells me people know when they have aggressive dogs and it's not the first time it's shown aggression but they don't take any steps to keep contained

Oh man. That sucks. I hope you are ok! Most of our clients that call us with aggressive dogs are great considerate people, but I see a lot of people out and about in public with aggressive dogs that they don't even try to manage the issue. That is the reason I won't ever take my personal dogs to a dog park.
