Dometic Vacuum breakers protect your freshwater system from bacteria contamination. They provide a physical air gap within the supply line. If you have a leak when the pedal is depressed, it may be caused by a failed vacuum breaker.

Can the vacuum breaker be installed upside down? i am trying to install a bidet on my dometic 310 but the breaker is un the way of the seat mount. will the breaker being sideways or upside down affect the funtion of the toilet? thanks

Homer Guerrero no it can not be install upside down, it must be vertical. The vacuum breaker acts as a physician air gap between the toilet bowl and fresh water supply. Vacuum breaker ultimately prevents bacteria from inside the bowl traveling back to your fresh water supply.

You would have to get a couple of different fittings but you could install a check valve which does the same thing and you could be mounted in any orientation
