This is one of those songs that you grow up with, but never really know the name of. Then years later when you hear it on the radio or something, it all comes back you like a tidal wave of sweet nostalgia :D
Yes, there is a lot of controversy surrounding "emo" but this song isnt really wrist-cutting emo. Yes its sad but there is a lot of pro-life and anti suicide things in it like "We'll carry on" and "Go and try, you'll never break me" So i guess its really a matter of the way you look at the song yourself whether you look at it all about death or carrying on when you've lost a loved one.
My best friend showed me this song all excited saying we should sing it for our talent show, we practiced forEVER and lots of kids from our rec always pretended to be all nochalte and listening to us. It was so fun! Love this song!
oh man these songs really bring back good memeories of when i was young, im going through a really bad break up and for some reson this song is just chearing me up :) lol
@guzzo42081 It's about the 'pasient.' The whole album is about him finding out he's going to die. And this song is where he actually dies, and he remembers his fondest memory. When his father took him to see a Parade.
no girl should something like that to someone and that must of been really cool to have those people come up and play while you were singing! i and i bet you sang great! ^^ and it must of been great to have people that wernt your friends to do that for you.that was a good story because you had people to back you up and to be friends with you after that.
@OwlCitizen14 Its about a guy who takes his kid to see a marching band and that was the kids favorite memory so when he dies he goes to heaven and relives the memory and joins the parade... i think.
@GHannelius100 Shannon passed after she fell from her horse whilst competing in a showjumping competition - her absolute passion in life. It has just passed the fourth anniversary of her passing, and still feels like yesterday..
@HeinrichKonig Jack Duckworth was dying of cancer. He sat on the same armchair his wife Vera passed away on 2 years ago. He sat on that chair on his 75th birthday reminiscing when he had a vision of his wife, while succombing to his illness. Vera helped him out of the armchair and they kissed and danced. This reminded me of the video to this song because it's about a dying man who was remembering his life and death came to him in the form of his happiest memory. Vera is Jack's happiest memory.
I remember hearing this when I was approximately seven, (I'm 15 now) and I could never figure out what the song was, this is the same with many other songs, but it's great finally finding out what the song is after hearing it after almost a decade.
"Do or die, you'll never make me. Because the world will never take my heart." I love that part. this song will lie on forever in the hearts of the broken.
@Picturewithmusic did you ever watch the holloween specail of the simpson when lisa comes to the realisation that if your ignore the mosters they die. i think where on to something
Played today in memory of Shannon Leigh Bloomfield, for her 16th birthday. Shannon passed away 27th January 2008 aged 12, this was her favourite song. RIP Shannon, you are so missed x x x
@LikeColdFire I didn't think it was too hard of a question. One possibility could be that a friend recommended the song to them, and they didn't like it. Another possibility could be that they were looking around for songs and stumbled upon this one, but perhaps didn't like it. I didn't like this song for a while, but I love it now :)
This song is one of my favorites. I actually went to the talent show and was going to sing songs with my old ex-girlfriend. I went she broke-up with me and left. I walked out on stage and was kinda sad so I just started singing a random song. Turns out I started to sing this. My "new" friends (I say new because I made friends with them at that point) heard me sing this and they had their instruments already set up so they walked out without me realizing and just started playing. I had just star
In my opinion it's about carrying on after you lost a love one, I feel as if it may be military related. But that's the best part about this song, nobody can say your interpretation of the song is wrong.
I finally realize the story its about the patient who dies of cancer and he remembers his dad taking him to a parade in the city thus forming the black parade
This and Skylines and Turnstiles REALLY defines the band...They want you to know you are NOT alone. That there ARE people who know your pain. I love My Chemical Romance.
He said...."Listen here you little shit. Don't make a band and then break up 15 years later!"
Is it normal that while i was singing along with them i started crying? Those words....*tear falls down*....it is just, so ....agh...
He said:
"Don't create a legendary band just to screw it all up 15 years later, mmkay?"
It was 12 yrs not 15
This is one of those songs that you grow up with, but never really know the name of. Then years later when you hear it on the radio or something, it all comes back you like a tidal wave of sweet nostalgia :D
He said, “when you make an amazing band, carry on and don’t break up 15 years later.”
12 years later? thats how long it takes to make a full allbum

I sang this with my friends in the same car,
Every Monday,
In memory of the "death" of the weekend
Memories~
I'm havin this played at my funeral. When I die, I want everybody to party and carry on \m/
This song reminds me a lot of Bohemian Rhapsody...just because it changes the rhythms so often and because of the beast solos
this generation hasn't had enough great rock opera's like this, this is fucking great haha
first song i heard ny mcr & it will always stay in my heart
@XxTRUExINSANITYxX isn't the Black Parade basically death? Love my chem romance and everything but not enough to meet my maker.
This song doesn't remind me of a lost loved one or a painful past. But still, I find myself brought to tears every time I listen to it.

LONG LIVE THE BLACK PARADE!!!!!
This sounds good enough to be parodied.
Goosebumps. O.O
Even though I generally don't like this type of music, I for some reason enjoyed this song especially and the amount of meaning the lyrics have.
I just love the begining
Amazing Song!
In my opinion it's about carrying on after you lost a love one, I feel as if it may be military related. But that's the best part about this song, nobody can say your interpretation of the song is wrong.
