I've had to deal with the compressor often, and I had only understood half of it, but the visuals here helped me a lot. Your explanation was perfect. Keep it up, people will stay once they watch. Maybe make 2 or 3 thumbnails and rotate them for the same videos to increase your exposure and improve click-through-rate.
Thank you, I really just wanted to hear how the one knob compressor on the Yamaha desk sounded and you did that so thanks. Also for the explanations - thumbs up :)
I'm trying to see how one knob compression works on the Yamaha MG06X. Brilliant videos btw. Any ideas if on the Yamaha MG06X, is one knob compression used on channels 1L and 2R & you alter it with the gain? Or does gear4 music have their specs wrong on their site?
You're always a blessing. In my church a front of house mix from Yamaha digital mixer supplies to MG6 used for live streaming and the input source is usually very hot especially during singing. What's the best relationship between the Gain, channel know and the Master know levels?
Hi, do you think the compressor would be suitable for Pub karaoke with a mixture of people singing too softly and yelling into the mic? 🤔 Thanks for the great video!
¡¡GRACIAS!! Estoy aprendiendo a usar una de estas consolas pequeñas y no entendía bien el tema de la compresión. GRACIAS a este video tengo una idea más clara de cómo abordarlo. De nuevo. ¡GRACIAS!
Thanks for making this. I, too, find 12:00 is usually a sweet spot for vox. Was just wondering what settings are under the hood of these things, and to my surprise, you answered that question! Thanks! Are the numbers in the manual?
While basic, I think these would have been a very useful feature if they had been implemented on Portastudios back in the day, given the limited dynamic range of cassettes.
I have a Yamaha mixer. What do I do to prevent feedback? Do I adjust the "gain" knob, "compression" knob, or the "volume" knob? If so, do I adjust it up or down? Thanks.
Wow, awesome video. I just start considering the Behringer Xenyx Q802 but I was curious about how the one knob works. Thank you so much, it help me a lot!
no.. only to that specific channel. The other two channel doesnt have it so i wouldnt use it for vocals. If you need more than 2, get a bigger mixer board or you can run racks.
That was the BEST explanation of compression I have EVER seen!
I know, right!? 😮
You’re really good at explaining things. Well made tutorials. Cheers
Glad you like them!
Three year old video is still the best explanation of compression I've been able to find. Thanks a lot!
Amazing.
1 knob compressors are so nice for people who don't want to learn too much and still have it work intuitively !!

Nice, concise, down to earth explanation of a very difficult concept! Thanks!!

Your videos are so good! I bought this exact mixer and your videos have been gold

Thanks Jordan great video!
Your expression and explanation are good, you really took your time, but am new to this, how best can you help me?
Awesome video!
Thank you so much!
Very helpful
Thanks, Mr. Kettner!
How would you guys generally set the one knob compressor for kick drum snare drums and toms?
Thanks for the explanation, very well made
Perfect video, thanks.
Absolutely awesome and informative video!
¡¡GRACIAS!! Estoy aprendiendo a usar una de estas consolas pequeñas y no entendía bien el tema de la compresión. GRACIAS a este video tengo una idea más clara de cómo abordarlo. De nuevo. ¡GRACIAS!
Excellent explanation
Thank you so much, your videos are very helpful. 💚🌿

There is a diagram printed on the mixer itself that shows the compression ratio.
@@kettnercreative Too cool! Thank you :)
How is the Yamaha compressor sounding compared to Mackie profxv3’s compressor? Are those all digital compressor or analog compressor? Thanks.
Thank you sir for your packaged information
Should I run my controller through the 1 knob compressor?
Super! J’ai la même console que toi! I have the same mixer as you showed..
Merci!✌️🎼
While basic, I think these would have been a very useful feature if they had been implemented on Portastudios back in the day, given the limited dynamic range of cassettes.
For sure! I always leave the dbx or Dolby nr switched on when I record, because the noise reduction is a compressor.

Excellent video
Great video, thanks!!
Thank you!
Perfick. Thanks for sharing
Whats the best ratio on that one knob of compression that you use for vocals and other instruments?
Does it means less compression for bassy vocal to make it sound brighter?
Wow, awesome video. I just start considering the Behringer Xenyx Q802 but I was curious about how the one knob works. Thank you so much, it help me a lot!
Excellent video, tyvm!
Glad you enjoyed it!
So, which way do we bypass the compression? at 0 or 10?
0 will bypass the compression.
thanks - amazing
What is the different in using a compressor and a di box and can I use both 🤔
Thank you so much 😊 It really works 😊
Welcome 😊
This one knob compressor also works with condenser microphone ??
is compression works on dynamics mic only or it works well too on condensor mic ?
You ROCK.
Really great video thanks!
Glad you liked it!
Hi which mixer is best when it comes to effects yamaha or soundcraft. Thanks in advance.
Allen and heath
Thanks bro
If you use all 4 channels by connecting Mics to it, does that one compressor knob compress all 4 mics??
no.. only to that specific channel. The other two channel doesnt have it so i wouldnt use it for vocals. If you need more than 2, get a bigger mixer board or you can run racks.
Thanks for making this video! I get a clipping sound when I set the compressor knob to max, any idea?
You need to turn the gain down
@@kettnercreative I'll try that. But is it okay to put it in max? What is the ideal setting?
It is useful
It sure is
Thank you SO MUCH
You're welcome!
why feedback when used one knob compressor?
Can the compressor be used in live performance when doing high notes and low notes
The compressor can certainly be used in a live performance. It will compress all frequencies at an equal rate.
You look like Captain Cold from the Flash
Great
In Windows, you can set the audio input volume from 0 to 100. Should it be set at 100?
yes
Why didn't you turn the compressor up and move the mic farther and closer so we can see the actual compressor getting to work
Geez I watch a lot of your videos. Lol
Glad you find them helpful!
ㅇ0O Thanx,,! This video is exactly what I was looking for!
👍
He Yamaha compression Doesntt work on a kick drum. The initial hit blasts straight through that 25 ms attack.
Q: How do you use a one-knob compressor?
A: By turning that one knob.
Who could've guessed?
but now the narrator's plosives are louder :,(
