What most of the people commenting on this guys work don't understand what he's showing. Yes you can be more careful etc but this guys is a house basher. He's paid to smash houses out to an acceptable standard as fast as he can. The faster he is the more money he earns. That's what he's showing in his videos. How to smash houses out at volume. Good enough to get the money!
The best tradesman is the one earning the most money.

Great video, as usual. I appreciate what you say about not contaminating the paint left in your can with bits your brush picks up from the wall, but how do you clean your scuttle/bucket when you are done so that the next time you don't contaminate your brush with bits left in the scuttle? Everybody has got a different method , Id like to try and get the dust up with a vacuum first and I don't think I would like working with gloss in that bucket . Anyway as long as you get the job done. We never use to cut brushes , use in emulsion , then undercoat , then gloss. Stir it or not , do what it says on tin. Oh and if the paint in the kettle gets shit in it , you can always strain it through some tights before it goes back in the stock .

    Surface prep is key
First sand the surface lightly removing any uneven bumps lumps and to create a key for new paint to stick grab onto surface of skirting
You can hoover any sanded particles up but if use a damp cloth to clean the surfaces well allow to dry fully
And then carefully apply a cost of gloss if another coat of gloss is required then allow sufficient drying time between coats read the application instructions on tin of paint for drying time
1-2 coats of good quality gloss job done
    If it’s bare wood
Surface prep as usual plus very light sand then clean
    Wood primer 1-2 coats
    Undercoat 1-2 coats
    Gloss 1-2 coats

Zero point. You’d have two textures on the skirting, brush marks at the top and a slight orange peel on the face of it. You should be able to get a smooth finish using a brush, just don’t apply too much and brush it out as far as you can

    • @neilshuttleworth8699
      @neilshuttleworth8699 4 роки тому

I tend to wait till the gloss is completely dry before removing the masking tape or muck will most likely spring up on the skirting from the sticky side and your hands can get covered as you need a finger to grab a corner of tape to pull it off, hence no gloves. If the tape is troublesome to remove use a Stanley knife to break the edge of gloss. Most of the tape should come off freely, only on occasion you will reach for the knife.

DIYers please dont do this, particularly the 'simulating masking off a carpet' bit....yes it will protect the carpet but only to a point and if you deliberately hit the tape that heavily with the gloss it will likely bleed through in places.
A couple of times in the video you advise not to put the unused gloss back into the tin, which is good advice, however you then demonstrate how it's ok to hit the new bare concrete floor (adding that we "will pick up bits") and seem quite happy to spread that shit up and down the skirting, baffling.
My favourite bit of your How 'not' To video has to be the dusting fail..."Before you start just dust off" etc etc, "I've done it already", then you demonstrate and, oh look, a shitload more crap, pmfsl absolutely priceless.
I could go on, and on.

OK Mr Senpai , therefore due to your neat eyes - Candleman does new site price work , its not a fucking private . It got to be presentable , not perfect , we meant to make money , not fuck around with masking tape etc. a lot of builders simply damage your work soon after you finish or in most of the cases - while you produce unit , so shut the fuck up as after the man do the job most of the units goes through 1st stage snagging from the employer , then from the builder and then from the fucking client . We mean to produce unit which is then - easy to re-dec if necessary .

You think an electrician in a new build can bodge it quickly and do a shit job cos ‘time is money bla bla bla’, in the same way no ones wants badly painted skirting and doorframes with shit in the paint just cos you cowboy painters ‘want to make money and fuck off quick’. Bunch of titheads I swear.
