I was due to start basic at Catterick on the 5/4/20 which got delayed due to covid. I’ve now put it on hold as unsure if to leave a secure job in the emergency services at 27 to join the infantry. Tough decision but your videos offer a good insight to what career I could have
Yes covid really disrupted everything. You just have to way out your own personal pros and cons, making the assesment on what works better for you. The Role you are in now and the Army are both secure jobs, a benfit to working for the Government.
Theres always the potential for joining a local reserve unit. Keep your civilian role and have the chance to serve and see what a military career could potentially offer. I know a few chaps in the same intake as myself that are doing just that.
I left a secure job in the financial industry at 25 to join the infantry, best decision I’ve ever made. It might seem daunting at first being older, but personally I’ve found it so much better than being a kid. If you work hard you’ll promote quick, I’ve been in battalion less than a year, and I’m already on a promotion cadre.

I'm asking because Scotland going independent has been getting some major traction again recently and it looks like an independent Scotland from a second referendum is totally possible or is going to happen, Westminster are now admitting to seeing the reality of it and they are planning for it post-covid. The Scottish Defence Force would then be born. Do you think they would then assist local police forces and conduct security, counter-terrorism etc on home soil most of the time, or do you think they would be deployed to Afghan and stuff still?
Hi, Im interested in the Royal Irish Regiment. If you don't mind me asking whats it like for Southern Irish in the Royal Irish Regiment ? dose the Regiment have many Southerners ? What do they think of there experiences with the Regiment ? The channel content is great BTW! Keep up the good work!
There's loads of Irish in all the British forces anyway. There's even more in the Royal Irish for obvious reasons. You'll be treated like anyone else and you won't be the only lad from down south in it.

Nice one mate, have you been thinking about producing any more podcasts? I thought the last one with MKR was fantastic. I think you could capture a a good audience with podcasts, as there doesn’t really seem to be any other serving British army personnel on UA-cam that do them already.
Yeah it certainly was something I was going to continue the issue is a piece of equipment has piled in, thats the reason I’ve had no proper live streams either that arnt using my phone, once that is sorted I’ll be back in action on that side of things.

Just as am thinking to apply after my final year of university and I wanna know so I have an understanding for the future.
In all honesty I’m not to sure mate as it’s a completely different branch of the military, so I would definitely say that there would be some differences.

Cheers mate and 😂 . What I’ll say it’s extremely cheap in the cookhouse which will reflect in quality. Civilian ran company!! There are kitchens in the accommodation so most lads have breakfast and lunch self made.

No not at all mate, sgt course is the last arduous course you will have to do. (Promotes to sgt). The further two more promotions are based on management performance and getting the educational courses.
I joined at 25, and being older helped a lot more that you’d think. If you work hard when you get to battalion, you can promote mega quick. If you work hard and you’re mega at your job, you’ll be a Sjt way before you’re 40.
I live in west London and Catterick is really far from where I am. I want to apply for infantry when I’m 18 but since the basic training location is so far im not sure
You would have to spend 26 weeks there then move to your unit. Guards could potentially be a good choice for you if your wanting to stay close to home.

@@nova260q7 it’s totally down to what you want, there’s multiple roles in the Infantry, which will have you stationed at multiple places. My regiment is light mech which use the Foxhound (I’ve videos here on the channel ref our vehicle) we are based in a place called Ternhill (Shropshire). You’ve also got Airborne, Armoured, light role , etc with different Regiments in different places.
I’m currently about to start my training with the irish defence forces in a week but the royal Irish has been interesting me lately aswell as the foreign legion I’m just wondering is there many Irish lads in the unit and how they get along main thing about me joining would be I’m Irish joining the British army but I’d love to go overseas and not just peacekeeping and training All the time

UFC casual #1 This question comes up a lot and honestly there are no problems with it at all. There are Rangers serving from all over the UK serving in the Regiment. So all good mate 🤟🏻

Bit of an unrelated question but one that bugs me. If a British Soldier was to encounter an American Officer would the British Soldier do the palms facing outwards normal salute or would they perform the American palms down facing salute?

Yeah there’s loads of Rangers serving from the South of Ireland as well as all over the UK and commonwealth. So absolutely no problems there mate.

Damien Forrester Mates there is loads of guys that serve in the Regiment from both sides of the boarder in Ireland. So that isn’t an issue at all.

Well the Regiment are about to get busy with that side of things next year with overseas towards the end of 2021

UFC casual #1 shared rooms initially but when you promote you will moved into single rooms. The shared rooms have divides in them.

You would do what is your custom so as the person is in the british army hed do palms up
