  • From time to time I like to do non greenhouse topics like this. I have this old Chevy truck that I couldn’t read the speedometer anymore because the dash bezel had gotten so foggy and scratchy over the years. Here’s how I fixed it. It’s not real complicated but what has to come off first and that kind of thing might be useful to some of you. Hope you like this.

Chevy Cheyanne! I bought one of these, one of the best older trucks. Mine still has the classic clock, which sucks and runs the battery down. This video helped take it out.

That truck reminds me of my friends Dad's truck. It was the only vehicle I road in with 3 on a tree. It was the early 90s when he owned it. Cool truck. 😎

The engine needs a little work now but I still have this truck. The newer ones just don't do it for me.

Good video, I know it's a year old now but it might help someone out in the future. when I replaced mine I removed the dash pad and loosened the 2 nuts on the steering column to drop it down enough so the vent (top right) and the headlight switch (bottom left) wasn't in the way. Made my life a lot easier!!

Thanks for the comment. When I did this I had no idea how to do it and I figured maybe some other guys might be in the same situation so I did a video of it, mistakes and all. Sound like you had a better way of getting it done. But even so I hope I showed the basics of what ya gotta do to get that bezel replaced. But now with your comment there's even better information on how to do it.

All of my gauge covers were fogged over - looks like somebody used the wrong spray to try to clean them. 30 minutes and a headlight cleaner kit (for plastic lenses) cleared them right up. Used a drill for the larger gauges - had to do the small ones by hand but a Dremel would probably have worked too. No disassembly required. (79 c10)

I hadn't thought of using a cleaner. It might have worked as in your case it did. But in my case I am not sure if the "fog" wasn't penetrating all the way through the plastic and not just on the surface. This was really old plastic that had been in the sunshine for years etc. I wish I had the old one now to take a look at it.
