I never noticed it before, but it's such a clever little thing that whilst Esther was smothering Daniel, wearing his pulse oximeter, her heartbeat BARELY rose.
Shows how truly cold blooded and deranged she is. Not even the "rush" of excitement that they say some serial killers get. She is smothering an innocent boy and couldn't care less.
Now you need to watch Orphan: First Kill. It’s actually a surprisingly good prequel. The actress that plays Esther was born in 1997, and somehow in the 2022 prequel they made her still look like a little girl.
@@DanielWeinreb-vc6et No CGI, they just used the same tricks that Peter Jackson used in Lord of the Rings for the scenes with the Hobbits and Gimli. @@DanielWeinreb-vc6et they did use a little girl body double but the shots with Isabelle Fuhrman were done using camera trickery and other effects. No CGI though.
I’m going to disagree. She’s a great actress, but she didn’t look 8. Not her fault. They were the ones who decided to cast a 24-year-old girl to play an eight-year-old. She did the best she could with it and I enjoyed the movie, but I think it would’ve been better if they hired a girl more the right age to play the part.

Oh, I only brought it up because Kat wondered if it was a real condition and if they really looked young. So I gave her a real world example to see what it really looks like. :)
I put my life on hold when I saw Kat had an Orphan reaction. Fantastic performance from Isabelle Fuhrman. In this film she's an actual "child" who plays one, but is actually an adult. In the prequel Orphan First Kill, she is an actual adult who plays a child, who is an adult! And she pulls it off.

@@SurvivorBri ATJ needs to be in a 'young horror queens' movie with Jenna Ortega and Kathryn Newton. The third for Vera and Toni should be Carla Gugino 😉
Actually this movie is based on a true incident of a woman, Barbora Skrlová, who posed as a 13-year-old boy in Norway. And there was ANOTHER incident that happened after this movie (probably inspired by it) where an Indiana couple adopted six-year-old Natalia Grace from Ukraine...in that one apparently the girl threatened the family and there's dispute as to what her age is. It's another weird instance of life imitating art.

Isabelle Fuhrman (Esther) excellently played one of the creepiest, scariest movie villains I've ever seen on film. Her performance was hauntingly disturbing.

Today is the first time I watchted one of your videos (Alien brought me to your channel). You immideately reminded me of Jessica Chastain when I saw you. You're right, she's a beautiful actress ;) This movie is awesome, I loved how things gradually got weirder and weirder with Esther. And I wouldn't have guessed her story in a thousand years, but actually called it... I Watched lots of horror movies, but this one is definitely one of the more intelligent ones. And Isabelle Fuhrman was only 12 years old when filming that. Such a great performance! This one left an impression.
So if I'm aware a movie has a twist I'll look for it, and maybe about 85% of the time I'll figure it out. Watching this I remembered a story about a little girl who wore ribbons around her neck, another kid pulls the ribbon, and her head fell off. That's what I thought the twist was, so I was shocked! 😅 The dad in this is one of my most hated horror movie characters. He's just the worst. Crazy considering Ester is also in this! I'm gonna agree with everyone that you should def watch the prequel. There's a fun behind the scenes photo to look up after you do.
Isabelle was 10 when she shot this movie, to this day this is mind blowing to me. Pure talent right there, i truly believe she deserved a Oscar for this acting.
Speaking of Vera’s character being gaslit by Esther, you should watch Gaslight (1944). More of a thriller than a horror, but it’s very good. Angela Landsbury’s first film!
You should watch the prequel, Orphan: First Kill. I didn't think it would be any good, what with knowing what Esther really is, but they managed to spin a different, batshit crazy, story.
I LOVE YOU FOR THIS REACTION!!!! ..... I've watched every reaction I can find of this movie so seeing a new one, and by YOU, is so exciting! One of my all-time favorite movies.
from the movies wikipedia page: "Esther of Estonia was inspired by the May 2007 media coverage[5] of 34-year-old Barbora Skrlová, a woman impersonating an orphan who took over her first adoptive family, manipulated the mother and her sister to chain and starve both their sons/nephews, and ran away from the police when caught. She eventually was found impersonating Adam, a thirteen-year-old boy who had gone missing in Norway"
I wasn't going to watch this movie because I already knew of the real life story it was loosely based off so the reveal was already spoiled for me. But, I ended up eventually watching it and actually liked it. Loving your reactions, thanks for suffering for our enjoyment.
IIt's possible for someone to be older but looks like a literal kid. A classic example is Gary Coleman. He suffered from a form of kidney disease called focal segmental glomerulosclerosis and the corticosteroids and other medications used to treat it limited to 4 ft 8 in (142 cm) and his this kept his face a childlike appearance even into adulthood. He went to star in Different Strokes back in 1985. He was 17 when the show started, but his character was 10
The real horror of this movie is a family who couldn't pay attention to two kids wanting a third.

Glad you're back 😊❤
"Haunted ribbonsssssss"
20:04 when she accidentally guesses the twist lmao
So if I'm aware a movie has a twist I'll look for it, and maybe about 85% of the time I'll figure it out. Watching this I remembered a story about a little girl who wore ribbons around her neck, another kid pulls the ribbon, and her head fell off. That's what I thought the twist was, so I was shocked! 😅
The dad in this is one of my most hated horror movie characters. He's just the worst. Crazy considering Ester is also in this!
I'm gonna agree with everyone that you should def watch the prequel. There's a fun behind the scenes photo to look up after you do.
I love how agitated you were at this Bud. You are so much fun to watch. I appreciate your time.
What about "The Orphanage" (2007)
We need to get Kat to 100k!
..."don't hide the backpack w/the nudie mags - he'll find'it Right Off"...😂🎉
This is my favorite channel ever
AAAAA YAAA!!!! MADE MY DAY!!!!
I checked our 9-year-old daughter. It turns out she's really 4 years older than my wife.
Ugh. Hate it when that happens.
Damn temporal anomalies.
You should watch the prequel, Orphan: First Kill. I didn't think it would be any good, what with knowing what Esther really is, but they managed to spin a different, batshit crazy, story.
"What is she's been alive a long time?" ... Well, you could say that, yeah lmao
for a certain definition of "long" [laughs in almost-30] 🫠
@@baneoftechnology lol don't sweat it, I'm 36 =(
kat bringing the heat last week and this week!
I LOVE YOU FOR THIS REACTION!!!! ..... I've watched every reaction I can find of this movie so seeing a new one, and by YOU, is so exciting! One of my all-time favorite movies.
from the movies wikipedia page:
"Esther of Estonia was inspired by the May 2007 media coverage[5] of 34-year-old Barbora Skrlová, a woman impersonating an orphan who took over her first adoptive family, manipulated the mother and her sister to chain and starve both their sons/nephews, and ran away from the police when caught. She eventually was found impersonating Adam, a thirteen-year-old boy who had gone missing in Norway"
48:26 Kat's dead birdies 😆
Definitely check out Orphan: First Kill. 13 years after this, but uses the same now adult actress with camera tricks. It’s a lot of fun.
I wasn't going to watch this movie because I already knew of the real life story it was loosely based off so the reveal was already spoiled for me. But, I ended up eventually watching it and actually liked it. Loving your reactions, thanks for suffering for our enjoyment.
In mother Russia, orphan adopts you
“Max” was the most adorable child actress ever. She just wanted a big sister. Time flies.
He was 17 when the show started, but his character was 10
Haha! You're reaction to this one was priceless, Kat!! Keep 'em comin'! 😃
Always brightens my Wednesday with your reactions, Kat!
Esther's rewarding because we are all subjected to the stuff that the father never sees and were like how can you not see it.
