She’s so absolutely gorgeous
Her eyes are like God and the devil both looking right at you
In this clip, in 1992, she is certainly lush. Now 32 years later in 2024 and Ms. Stone is not so great. The Wall remains undefeated.
I must say that Jerry Goldsmith did an amazing job for this film with the music coz its got this hypnotic tune all the way thru and really puts a mysterious and freaky mood through the whole film.
I love this movie 😇🥰 Sharon Stone and Douglas work so well together and I think there are a lot of small details you can see in the close shots of the face of the actors. The 90s movies were the best for me, more psychology than we see now...
Jerry Goldsmith was the composer on this movie, not Williams. They are both great composers though.
@@danielm3192 oh yes... my mistake... 🤣🤣 I keep mixing them up... since they were both on demand at the same time
This movie has that “Body Heat” vibe. Kathleen Turner turned down Sharon Stone’s role.
Catherine Tramell is one of the greatest characters ever created.
And Sharon Stone brought her to life amazingly, with aplomb, depth & to incredibly chilling effect
Absolute classic, Sharon was the perfect woman for the role too, extremely gorgeous with perfect acting.
The way she smirks when he says he was killed with an ice pick was so funny lol
Catherine get away with swearing at the policeman.😱
That smirk has a name, " narcissistic smirk". In that moment her mask of sanity slips, and we se her true nature as a sadistic killer and manipulator.
How come today movies can hold a candle to this ?
Who did her make up In this scene did amazing job
Agree. A very soft but extremely seductive smoky eye coupled with a warm toned, matte nude lip and slighter darker pencil combo ('90s style), a light touch of bronzer, as if sunkissed, and everything framed by those gorgeous eyebrows.
@@AnnaPxx and this her just woke up look like This.
@@Pinkranger87 She is Sharon Stone, remember? 😏 Her make up here is a great example of '90s "no make-up make up". Love it. Her make up, nails and hairdos in Casino are pure masterclass too
@@AnnaPxx This how you make a great strong woman femme fatale.
@AnnaPxx
I didn't like her look in Casino. I don't get why everyone seems to like it. To me she looked her best in Basic instinct. Absolutely gorgeous. I thought so 15 years ago when I first saw the movie, I still think so today.
In Casino she looks cheap for my taste.
GREAT scene! Thanks for posting!
She dominates this movie not only masters the role but goes totally over the top, and her name is not above the titles with Douglas, making him come off as a total jerk.
But he was the mega star actor and she was a relative unknown. That’s why. They always bill the more famous actor first. Nothing to do with him as a person.
Gosh I want to go to that beach :06 and relax.
Sharon Stone is a great villain
My understanding is that the BI script went to most younger, good-looking actresses in Hollywood, who saw all the skin and sex for the female lead and declined. Eventually SS got it and said OK, even though she certainly had an issue with the skin and sex (especially the beaver shots in the interview room). When they shot the beaver footage, the director said to SS, "If you feel uncomfortable with having the camera look up your dress and show your vulva, we won't include it in the final cut." SS said she found it supremely embarrassing but the director used the beaver footage anyway. Movie insiders must have looked at SS on screen and said, "Oh, so *you're* the chick they got for this high-powered sex machine of a movie!"
Your a weirdo and the beaver shot was not even in the script and some of the sex scenes also.. you weirdo
SS must have been trying to make ah normal life
She slapped the director at the film premiere after the film was shown
SHARON STONE WAS THE BIGGEST SEX SYMBOL OF THE 90'S BECAUSE OF THIS ICONIC MOVIE
The acting back than compared to now... what's a difference
She wasn't the first choice to portray Tramell, but seems she'd succeed to be Tramell.
yeah lady tramell
I've been having vided dreams awake and asleep. Can't get this outta my head. Any reason? I could elaborate but your guess is better than mine. Godspeed
I first watched it when i was like 11 - and i thought to myself that these cars are hot. When i watched it again at being 18 - i thought to myself that Sharon Stone is hot. I watched it again yesterday being 37 and i thought to myself that this house and the view are hot. And i would say that there is not much more interesting in this movie - cars, Sharon Stone, luxury houses and the views. My advice - if you`ve seen this movie as a kid, don`t watch it again.
Probably would have been better to drive south from SF to Carmel vs. north from no one knows where . . .
Too much peanut butter and wonder bread.
"what are you a pro?" "No I'm an amateur"
Yeah, dumbest line I've heard. Well, close...
With the anger, lol
My response would have been ""I'm only a pro when surrounded by amateurs.""😜😉
I love this scene , it has a 60s Hitchcock vibe . The music and the scenery are just awesome
Vertigo with a big herpes
interesting
You said it before I could. You are so right. I caught this movie on the TV a few weeks back and watched it for about ten minutes or so. I caught the scene where she goes up to his apartment early on in the movie, and het gets a block of ice out of his freezer as he is making her a drink. The music, the setting, the dialogue, Douglas' attitude - these things elevate a humdrum scene into movie legend.
60s Hitchcockian is right--that's when he started to lose his touch with films like Marnie, and that's what Stone reminds me of. She has great beauty, maybe one of the most beautiful actresses in Hollywood history, and she certainly has screen presence. But she also comes across as cold, hard and vulgar, and it's not just the script, she's the same way in all her roles, as well as in interviews. There's nothing of the mystery of the classic Hitchcock blondes like Grace Kelly or Kim Novak about her. Like Marnie, there's not much romantic and sexual chemistry between her and the Michael Douglas character. The script says it, but the actors' body language says something different. I read that Douglas and Stone couldn't stand each other, and it shows (contrast that with the chemistry between him and Kathleen Turner or Glenn Close). She has a history of not getting along with her leading men, but Michael Douglas and William Baldwin are known to be abrasive themselves so you can't just put that on her.
All in all, it's a very stylish film with a great soundtrack, but no characters you really care about. The most compelling thing about it is if she did it or not.
She looks great here and the scene is so beautifully lit.
I'm so glad I didn't have to scroll to see someone say this! Absolutely gorgeous.
@@suzylux she's sexy with out showing skin. The sweater and pants maybe skirt looks amazing
When is she not...
💛💛💛
This movie is extremely underrated on so many levels. I think it lives on as a sort of camp, erotic thriller film from the early 90s with *that* scene that everyone thinks of first; but it's so much more than that. It's truly a beautiful, moody & sexy top-notch psychological thriller with an incredible neo-noir score, and incredible neo-noir lighting and direction. It's a cult classic.
Definitely. And each time you watch you see an extra layer, and notice details you didn't notice before
Very well said. I couldn't agree more. I've always loved this film.
No it wasn’t. Sharon Stone is great though.
Ppl do not take it seriously b/c by the time this movie was filmed, DNA testing was already available and used to identify criminals etc. The movie, as a whole, is perceived as a joke by some. A mistake, b/c Ms. Stone played a perfectly actualized psychopath w/ severe criminality in her.
and also inspired a real-life murder moulded after this character and the victim!
"i wasnt dating him. I was f*cking him"..
"What are you, a pro?"
@@astaciamckinnis3969 No. I'm an amateur
@@astaciamckinnis3969 : sorry, I sound like such a hick with this question, but what did the lawman mean by asking her if she was a pro ?

Hollywood gained a STAR with Sharon Stone from Basic Instinct. The film is a cinematic masterpiece, it's a shame it was overshadowed by the sexual aspects in the film.
She lost custody of her child due to this role. They had the judge watch it
Sharon was gorgeous in other movies as well, King Solomon's Mines, Scissors, Casino, He said She said.
Its mind boggling to me how the filming of this and cinematography is better than some of the best in the 2000 era when this was shot in the early 90s!
I agree
They learned their craft and took great care to achieve a specific look. Great cinematography in this movie by great artists. Sadly, it’s just not the same anymore.
After 30 years, people are talking about it as the best thriller. How is that underrating?
@@nina84374 30yrs not 50.
This was about 15 years after the first Star Wars. It wasn't exactly the dark ages.
OMG 🤩 Sharon Stone was so beautiful in the movie!😍😍
She was a knockout right through the 90s.
Christ, what a creature. This is only 3 years before Casino yet I can watch Casino and barely notice her beauty. In this film it's intoxicating.
Are you saying she aged badly in just three years? 😅
@@ladyGZSeChu I guess, yeah. Or the way she was dolled up in Casino didn't really do her beauty justice.
she was gorgeous in casino too
She was gorgeous in casino before her character turned into a bi*ch.
I just came back here after reading Sharon Stone's post on instagram about her clothes used in this film. She mentioned this one in particular, the Hermes cashmere throw on she wrapped around her in thos scene
The MOST beautiful actress in Hollywood!!! 😍🔥😍
My opinion too
The helicopter shot, the music, the crane shot peaking over the wall.....this is a great scene. Gorgeous.
The luminous blue beauty of the surroundings almost lends a religious depth, the azure sea and sky a glimpse of the infinite.. and Catherine is certainly one of God's dark masterpieces
This comment made me think of how nature works in it`s core. Her personality dissorder ( narcissistic psychopath) , is the way nature made her survive her trauma. Nature or God, is in it`s basic cruel. And the beauty of nature as you point out make`s it even more horrifying.
Her crude language too
Lol you`re so poetic, more poetic than the movie itself)
Sharon Stone wasn't the biggest star in Hollywood at the time and she really just handled this part like a star in the making with so much charisma and cool confidence. They could have given this part to any established star and they made the right choice to turn someone else into a star.
They did try to get established stars to act as Catherine Tramell but nobody wanted to touch the movie. Except for Sharon Stone, who actively lobbied for the rule.
She did star in total recall prior
Stunning view from the deck. Reminds me of Play Misty for Me.
It was filmed in Carmel. So yea
Sharon Stone looked great in Basic Instinct but now she is 62 and she is older. She was only 36 when she did this movie. Catherine Trumell was the femme fatale she killed Nick, her lover Roxy, her parents at the age of 7 which was on a boat making it looking like a boating accident, she killed her college professor, had an affair with Dr. Beth Garner killed her and Nick's friend Gus, She killed her lover Johnny Boz a retired Rock Star, In Basic Instinct 2 Risk Addiction she killed her lover a football player, Her therapist, she kills everyone and she did it to see if she could get away with it.
“Kill to see who if she gets away with it” reminds me of patrick Bateman in American psycho and he gets away with it
She didn't kill Roxy or Beth, but she did set them up to get killed. Absolutely brilliant 👏
Stace T who killed beth theb
then*
Nick killed Beth.
The house is stunning! I want to live there 😆
"No, I'm an amateur". great line
The way she flicks away her cigarette 😍
Pollution 🧐
Name a performance that has been as captivating and overwhelming since Sharon did this role. I’ll wait.
There are thousands.
Rosamund Pike in Gone Girl.
None
Bar none, Sharon was super gorgeous too.
What are you ? A pro?
No im amateur!
She handled that question very well
Back in my late teenage years were great because of this film, Sharon was a stunner 😍😍
So beautifully done..... Music, scenery!
This is my favorite scene from n the movie. That first look was epic no one could play Katherine the way she did .
Que hermosa era sharon stone
I'm trying to find the scene where Sharon Stone says something like, "I'm a writer. I write about people. Let the people beware."
That's the interrogation scene where she does the leg cross
i want to kiss a beautiful girl on that beach 0:03 and then fall asleep.
ugh....I was 20 when this movie came out....now I am older than Michael Douglas was in it......crap
Sharon was hot
I wish I had the patience, the guts(AND the manners)to tell the police to get the fuck out of my house too
Catherine is savage AF
Top class acting
Amazing Sharon Stone and Stunning Catherine Tramell!
She's so obviously guilty any half trained cop would figure it out. Then again Michael Douglas is too enamored with her and his partner is just a background decoration.
It's difficult for even a well trained cop to not let their dick call the shots
Самая красивая женщина в истории человечества
The best erotic thriller of all time. Hollywood never produced a movie like this.
Music.
Really great movie
I remember watching Basic Instinct i was a freshman in college
I was a Junior! I remember leaving the theater in a daze, totally in love with both characters and also depressed AF waiting for the bus because I knew I had to do all this homework I had been procrastinating over!!🤣🤣🤣💗💜💙
A DNA test would have solved the case instantly.
Not in that time. DNA test was very weak.
We had no idea, back then, that this was epic
Tiene mucho noir esta peli... me encanta...
I love Michael's sexy voice.
What a sociopath! Flicking cigarette butts into the ocean.
Now Detective Curran is married to Wednesday's mom
She was effortlessly cool and i c o n i c
Sharon Stone was such a babe.
My baby likes champs!!
That withering glare at 1:08 tells us exactly how this story is going to end for anyone caught in Catherine's wake. It's almost pitiful. Sharon Stone is, of course, luminous in this scene - a silver screen legend being born from the moment she turns to face the camera. She spins up an Oscar-worthy performance from a B-movie script, allowing subtle shifts in her countenance to draw the audience into her performance and make us root for her to succeed, even as the bodies begin piling up. It's hard to imagine how anyone else could have been considered for this role of a lifetime.
So Seductive *in my 50 voice
Whoever came up with her character's name was a genius. Catherine was a hutch to Tramell some wild thing in, Grima Wormtongue would have said.
the background music is just haunting you..
1:07
just love Michael douglas acting....
One of my favorites movies.
Hi! Could you explain me the ending? Elisabeth was obsessed with Catherine and tried to blame her? Were there 2 murderers?
@@mrg1996 I apologize if I make mistakes but I am French. So Elisabeth is innocent and was framed by Catherine Tramell. It was Catherine who killed Marty Nilsen over Nick's file. In short, Catherine is Machiavellian.

I saw the film when I was a kid...and I dont know why I kept memories of " is a good film". I saw it today, age 34, taking out the sex scenes what is the plot? Really boring, and predictable. Michael Douglas ass is sad.
Stfu
Susana u will never understand -
Don’t be a hater
U probably are jealous of how hot Sharon stone is
Because it has a great score, a beautiful new superstar actress for a femme fatale, incredible scenery and settings, and was bold and original with great actors besides Sharon Stone. A classic yet simple plot. You know from the start that Oedipus is the killer but HOW you get to the conclusion is what matters.
Douglas must have been insane walking around naked.
In the erotic thriller/crime movie genre, DRESSED TO KILL (1980) and BODY DOUBLE (1984) by Brian De Palma are way far better!
👎👎
If you examine this secne carefully you'll see why did he look like he notest something way before she came into view the tree way in the way he couldn't have seen her yet untill he passed the tree/ bush !!!
