Part of my container garden is nine 5-gallon buckets. I used a one-inch hole saw to drill drainage holes, like you did. I didn't want my soil to spill out of the holes, and I sure didn't want pests burrowing up through the holes, so I cut high quality landscape fabric to fit the inside bottom of each bucket, then added my soil and continued on with my little container garden journey. I did the same with the large storage tub containers. I've been very happy with that set-up. It's just a little patio container garden, but it makes me happy. For bigger dreams, I watch your channel! I love every single garden thing you do. And every chicken thing also! 🐓🐣🐥🥬🍅🥦🥒🥕🥔

I am in Fl too. I put my lettuce under shade cloth to keep that direct sun light off of my seeds.

That accuracy with the blood meal.... I would have had most of it outside of the container from that height.

This is my favourite salad green because it stays crunchy longer than the others. I love the heart of the butterhead so I'm glad y'all get to enjoy that. Though if I were to grow them at home in my tiny balcony I might have to sacrifice the heart in order to get more leaves for more salads. I love these progression videos and I'm glad to have them back. They also make me want to rewatch the other progression and cooking videos which I have already watched many times.

Hollis and Nancy.... I somehow stumbled on your channel as I am doing some research on how to grow my own food. This year is my first year of trying. I am having some success however I have made alot of mistakes. I have watched about 4 of your videos so far tonight. All I can say as a rookie Gardner is your videos have educated more than any others I have seen! Thank you both for taking the time to create this type of video. I know creating this took alot of time and effort! Your videos have truly educated me! I was getting a touch discouraged but not anymore. Thanks again , be well, and god bless!

Oh how beautiful that lettuce is! Hollis and Nancy, did you work in the food growing business for a living? Or, perhaps just always been drawn to gardening? I’ve always loved it. It’s so rewarding to plant a seed, watch it come up and grow, and be able to harvest it and eat it!! It’s a God thing, for sure!
Keep up the videos. I love watching y’all. Blessings always!!❤️❤️❤️

The hardest part of planting in FL when moving here from other parts of the country is knowing when to start with the heat here. My biggest question is do you have any problems with bugs?

Thank you both for the inspirational and educational videos and for being so good to share. I have learned quite a lot from you. I have dabbled with square foot gardening, used both pumped and Kratky hydroponics, and tried Mittleider gardening over the years. I learned that every one of those methods worked, but in the end, simplicity works best for me... good growing medium, regular plant nutrition supplementation, and consistent watering. Vaya con Dios.

I definitely won’t put lettuce in such a giant container. I would put it in a container 1/10 the volume. Such a waste of soil. But I am guessing there must be a reason he is doing it and probably works for him
