  • How I went from broke to buying a Lamborghini: I once read a poem that said, "Who is mighty? They who control their own thoughts." The good news is as you learn to harness your brain you will unlock a tremendous tool. How are you practicing mind control (haha I like how that sounds)...?

I feel like my brain works against me when it comes to diet, I've studied this concept for hours, days, weeks, and I figured the more knowledge I learned about food the more likely I am at actually dieting but you made a great point. "if you read a diet book that's great... but diets fail because of planning and execution." Thank you.

guys, i just wanted tai to maybe have something to offer in terms of content which us younger people could get just for a understanding of what he would say. There's no need to argue we're all old enough to understand a) we are on the internet and b) that writing insults is just going to get everyone no where

For me implementing a regular meditation practice has been a HUGE help in taking control of my mind. Controlling the mind takes effort and its funny that a practice where you sit and do nothing helps achieve the goal. Just like you point out in the video about lifting weights, you've got to take a reverse action. Another thing that's really helped me is to be super conscious about what I consume. This is easy because pop culture and the media industrial complex make my stomach churn, I feel much more at ease and in control without that noise in my life.

Totally agree with you. My suggestion for getting back into meditation is to do it first thing in the morning, as soon as you wake up. Wonderful way to start the day and you've got it out of the way (for lack of better words). Good luck!

My emotional fluctuations are my biggest hindrance. For as long as I remember, I have allowed myself to indulge in my emotions, whether it's by overeating or throwing a tantrum for whatever reason(s) trigger the emotion. What I am working on now is allowing myself to feel the emotion without acting on it. Instead of fighting it, I allow it to be, knowing that it will soon pass. I think it is the resistance against the emotion, as well as not analyzing its true source, that leads to the indulgence and the negative behaviors. Building up my will-power stores through consistently taking a more positive approach regarding my emotions will be one of my biggest assets.

Its not only about controlling our thoughts, because some of the thoughts we have are not even our thoughts, its about being neutral, becoming an observer that is detached from the thoughts, only then will your thoughts have no power over you.

Very good information, thank you for sharing. I've found that most people just let their brains run on autopilot and jump from one impulse to the next. In my own personal self development, one of the greatest lessons I've learned is that you need to understand your self. Once you get a grasp on how you tick its a lot easier to set the clock. Have a good one and thanks again.

I've listened to this everyday for the past week and it's really helped me to stay focused in doing the right things and not just what my mind is telling me to do. I've found that most times the right thing to do is the opposite of what my mind is telling me so I'm in the process of retraining my mind. Thanks Tai!

Not being able to focus when reading , I always try to maintain my focus on reading. For now I am able to finish quickly through audio books. For example : I always feel bad because I cannot read at the level that I should be at for my age therefore, I have to reread the paragraph or where I left off about (3) times the minimum plus, looking up the words to get the concept better. It is never an issue to want to read but it does becomes a challenge/ annoying for me to read by the littlest distractions and I have to pick off from where I left. The more practice the better for me. The practical task I can take will be to be able to read whenever I get the chance to. Also I was already thinking to write or revise the summary in my head or on a notebook to understand the message that is being sent across. I also plan on investing myself on audio books to be able to multitask while being up-and-about.

Hey Tai, could I possibly make a request for a new upcoming video? If I can, my request is something like "things to start when your young" for like all of your younger viewers like me, I'm a 16 year old guy planning on going to either dentistry school or law school so I was just wondering some things you know now that you wish you knew when you were a teen like me. Your videos have been sort of life changing for me, like I used to never read and spend all my time on video games and now I've been reading more books and it has impacted my life greatly so just like everyone else I'm the comment section I'd like to say thank you for your "preaching" about big topics and subjects so keep up the good work!!

What is super helpful for me is something I heard from Tony Robbins: little decisions seem small in the moment, but imagine how big the change can be within a month, a year, five years. So every time I catch myself, stopping and getting out of the situation and thinking about "where do I really want to go" is helpful. I will try the "opposite way" as well. That sounds good :)

To live in the immediate conscious NOW, I say this like its easy. But its not, you need to rewire your brain, " Learning, is unlearning." I am just now understanding and practicing this concept. The few brief moments of complete being or awareness of now is something you cannot explain with words.

Hi. My name is Emilio Rojas. I'm only 16. But I can say I have a pretty good understanding of a fraction of the world then most people my age. I woke up today and the first thing I asked myself is "what should I do today". I did my morning routine, and then I looked at my phone and I saw the UA-cam application. I clicked a video to watch and an advertisement popped up. It was you. I usually skip advertising because most of it is unhelpful for me while I'm trying to watch a video that interest me. But the first few words brought me to your attention. Mostly because I like business and learning new things, especially if those topics relate to me in a way. So I clicked it and it took me to another video about the 67 ways to improve yourself. I watched the whole entire video it was a little bit more then two hours. I loved it. It was vary useful. Some things I already knew and that's one reason I kept watching it. I liked the fact that I can relate to you. And that I can understand you. After I watched it I was tempted to buy the membership on your website. The only thing was that I can't afford it because I'm only sixteen and I talked to my mom about it and she had to go to work and couldn't really talk about it at the time. She also said that she really couldn't spend anymore money. If you see this and can respond to it. I would be happy to contact you to talk about things.

Taking small steps to building up willpower and 'mind control' is excellent advice. Multiple micro-actions each day will go a long way.
Another great thing to do is, slowly but surely, limit overly stimulating activities (Internet, processed food, some movies, most videogames etc.), replace with work, good socialising, meditation, exercise, reading, nutrition, thoughtful movies etc. This allows you to have an even-keeled mind, which is also essential to be able to control your thoughts and actions.

Thank you Tia, this pretty much sums up where I am literally right now and pretty much my whole life. Fear always held me back, an mainly myself. Just more negativity that I could overcome or handle for a long period of time. Usually I am good for a week or two at MOST, but I'll fall back and mess things up in my life for months at a time, years even! I'm always playing catch up with my life! Which sucks!! A lot! I hate it too! But it feels like a never ending cycle...

I cannot live with with myself , this is the thought that kept repeating itself in my mind, then suddenly i became aware of what a peculiar thought it was. "am i one or two? if i cannot live with myself , there must be two of me: the 'i' and the 'self' that 'i' cannot live with" "maybe" i thought , " only one of them is real"- eckhart tolle power of now, great book , whenever i worry the worry trys to take control i become concious of it and just watch it and it usually goes away.

  • @arande3
    @arande3 9 років тому

I like that. I have to be careful or else my mind will take control. I'm most susceptible to it when I'm getting tired and it can easily snowball. For example, at night, I can be like "Oh hey, what's an extra 15 minutes before I go to bed." By doing that, I am just a bit more tired the next day, and things domino as I decide "Yeah, that cookie will be fine." or "I'm going to wait to call this person about this thing until later today." or "I'm tired today. I'll lift ten pounds less today in my workout to give myself a break." Within a week, I find myself in a totally undesired place. It all starts with a slow dilapidation. I'm going to try to reverse that process and develop better habits using Tai's suggestion.

It gives me a reason to listen to others when they are speaking and grateful for what is to become of the moment. Also, positive thoughts I like to listen to instead of going through a cycle of negative ones, I stop and ask myself in an upbeat way "what's my next choice?" , "what can I do next?", "How would you like to grow out of your comfort zone?". Nicholas Epley's book, "Mindwise" is very good on this subject. We are not really who we think we are. In fact, you are somewhat separate from your mind and sometimes your mind is out of your control -- and that's why self-control is so hard.

The biggest thing in my brain that held me back was a lack of motivation to do important things, like studying. Either because I felt overwhelmed with things, or because I just plain out didn't want to, I would leave them undone and later feel guilty for not doing it.
What I realized, and still use to 'override' that feeling, is that you just have to take responsibility for your actions.
You don't "have" to do anything. Sure, there are consequences to not doing things, but if it's something you really don't want to do, then don't do it. Consequently, if it's something that's important to do, then just do it.
As for executing that realization, I found that the biggest problem there was that feeling of being overwhelmed. To deal with that problem, I made it a habit to take my tasks and break it down to steps and individual tasks that take less than five minutes to do. With a clear series of tasks, it gives a goal to aim for, as well as provides a clear roadmap to reach it.
That's my take on things, and thanks for the video!

We have to invest in our self now and control these thoughts to benefit our lives the best way possible. we have to Listen to the intelligent mind not our ancient mind, because we are going to be around for a long time( there are now 80. 90, and 100 year olds living)

Hey Tai, letting you know that I appreciate what you're doing!
It seems like with all the success and money that you have, you could be livin' it up in all parts of the world, enjoying just about anything you wanted to.
But you're not doing that, you're investing your time into helping out other people with achieving their goals.
I'm only 20, from Australia and have very little knowledge on business practise, however a lot of things you talk about apply to my hopes and dreams.
The destination for many is different but the journey will always be the same.

What books do you recommend for this subject on mind control? I would love to learn more.
