Hey Ashton! That book sounds amazing! As a nonbinary trans person struggles a ton with feeling like I can’t take up space because of who I am, I think that book would be a good reminder to have around me
I’ll definitely have to put this on my TBR list!! Also, if you take requests for Trans Book Reviews, I’d highly recommend “Some Assembly Required” by Arin Andrews! It’s an autobiography about his life as a trans man growing up in the Midwest. I’ve read it 4 or 5 times at this point... it helped me a lot when I was first exploring my identity, so it’s just really important to me in general
I know it's so many months later but I read that book! I loved it before I realized I was trans. It was a friend's so I had to give it back but still, it's so good.
Have you read If I Was Your Girl by Meredith Russo? She's a trans woman who writes about a transgirl in high school. I really like it. Would recommend.
i'm getting in college this year and i'm finally getting more interested in political kinds of books (or in general books that aren't fiction) and your videos help a lot! definitely getting this one when i have enough money (i'm from brazil and getting a book in another language is really expensive)
Can you try reading "no man of woman born" by Ana Mardoll It's a great book of 7 (I think) short stories about trans and non-binary people in fantasy worlds which so hard to find. It's not very well known and needs some more love
I'm currently reading that! I only heard about it because of an autistic pride readathon so it's super cool to see it metioned somewhere else! I'm also really enjoying it so far!
You should read and review CN Lester's, Trans Like Me. It's my favorite trans book ever. It's light on storytelling and much more on discussion about trans issues and theory while keeping it accessible. I think it's very well done.
On your criticism of the use of "the trans community": the one thing that connects trans people is that they're trans; a trans person can be basically anything besides things that negate being trans (namely, being cis). I'm trans and I love metal music, but some trans people love pop music. Anyway nice video
i cannot wait to read this now that i learned about it from this video!! i’m nonbinary and a book like this would have been so validating, helpful, and just an important resource for me before i came out and right after i came out. nonetheless, i am so happy it exists now and can validate so many future trans people AND help cis people understand what it’s like to be trans & hopefully empathize
literally just the title of this book and my enby ass is already crying i LOVE your videos! i've only just discovered your channel but omg, you're so rad
that excerpt about selfies though yessssss. (i don’t take selfies much anymore, because i’ve internalized all the sh*t people have told me about how i look and whatnot) but i love love love how she articulated that. and i hope to be able to engage in that celebration someday again 💜💜
I genuinely live this review and I am inspired to read this book but I am most definitely feeling like representation of the community is better to show a United front LGBT 🏳️🌈
I just found your channel a hot minute ago and you have been a great help in explaining things and just speaking. Your speech is so genuine and I love learning more of your view points. I will definitely read this book because I want to learn and I am questioning my gender. I have been questioning for years and I need this book! Thank you for existing ❤️❤️
omg my finger slipped and i clicked “dislike” when i started watching the video. so sorry. just undid it//hope i didn’t mess up the analytics. okay, back to watching the video
Just finished reading this book. Good read, written for a broad audience, had some good moments that I will definitely ponder on. Didn’t change the intense hatred I have for myself because I was born trans.
Well next time I'm in a book store I should look for this book. I recently went through a huge questioning about my gender and who I am as a person. I found the answer but I'm still questioning future steps (medically transitioning ect). Keep doing whag your doing, you may not always see it but your videos help people
@@thekingrah6882 being yourself is nothing people should be annoyed by and if they are, well they probablt just don't understand but give them and yourself time.

What is diatic? (idk if I spelled that right) I've never heard of it before. Also nice video I might get this book now.
People who are not intersex I think
dyadic, and yes it’s ppl that aren’t intersex :)
ooo going right onto my tbr!!
Wait- it's a common experience of trans people to over compensate?? I thought that I was the only one who did that. That's so relieving haha

I'm still figuring out my identity, and thanks to Ur videos I bought this book and will be receiving it soon😁
Can you review "you and your gender identity: a guide for self discovery" by Dara Hoffman-Fox, when you have the time?
