Simone Simons has a voice like crystal. You think it's going to shatter at any moment, but it never does. This is one heck of a start for her solo album.
Such a epic sounding song with the chior like vocals in support and her lead vocals which are stellar. Great keyboard and song structure in general on this track. I enjoyed it.
Great reaction my friend! Queen Simone and maestro Arjen have clearly set the high bar for symphonic female vocalist solo work this is just everything and then some 🤘🏻🤘🏻
This song is a masterpiece! The song is technically complex and follows an unusual structure and scale, combining techno elements symphonic metal giving an awesome effect. The heavy use of Latin and the astronomical visuals just added to the epic result.
They were lovely in the insta live. She asked Arjen to write her an solo album, and this first was to "marry" Epica and Ayreon. The rest should be different, and she has a influence song list on spotify. Fun thing she mentioned about the green screen was that she did not take the right shoes to the shoot so most is filmed barefoot and edited out of the video. Amazing song the less and pre-ordered it because Arjen always delivers, and Simone is SImone...
If you didn’t know already, although listed as a solo project, this is effectively a collaboration with Arjen from Ayreon. There is s video on UA-cam of Simone and Arjen talking about the project. The full album comes out on August 23rd.
OMG. This is the best thing I have heard an seen in ages. I can't believe it. I always thought Simone's talent is not brought to full potential in EPICA. Here it is! I can't describe how much I loved this. The composition is far beyond my expectations... I'm in awe... and lost for words
Aeterna is the moment before a star explode into a supernova: The choir is just 12 Simones i think, Arjen lucassen wrote the music for this, and you can hear it clearly, it gives me vibes of the Ayreon album called Transitus, especially the song called Daniels decent into Trasitus, where Simone also sing, you should check that one out, to see what i mean.. there is a great official video for it, where Simone play the dark angel.. I do think this upcoming solo album from Simone is gonna be diverse, i heard a song should be in Dutch for example, so i think its gonna be a good mix of everything..
I always love that you have just a black background and in this case extra cool because the theme of the album is red.. and red and black go very well together :)
Such an EPIC start to her solo album! It’s dramatic and theatrical and atmospheric…it’s space opera!!! The vocal layering for the choir is incredible-it was all just her and one male vocalist-and the production wooooow. Wouldn’t expect anything less from Ayreon though. I’m so excited to hear the rest of the album! And I get what you mean about her voice “blending” with the music, I think! Like, this song is definitely about the production and atmosphere. Her vocals are impeccable as always, but this isn’t the song she’s showing off in, and I can’t wait to hear what it sounds like when she *does.* She and Arien have also teased a couple secret special guests-Alyssa from Arch Enemy will be on one track, but apparently there are others who aren’t listed on the tracks yet, including a cello player (Apocalyptica cameo maybe??) In case you haven’t seen the news, the second single-In Love We Rust-will be out June 6th! I think it might be a ballad, but I guess we’ll find out!
Simone is the best... Yes surpassing Floor, Tarja and Dianne.. as much as I love them as well. Her collabs with Arjen are so over the top wonderful. I can't wait for the rest of the album.
This video brought Simone and especially Epica to my attention. I have only had eyes and ears for Nightwish in recent years. I only looked at Epica from the corners of my eye. But this video brought Simone's voice to my attention and I'm completely on the Epica trip at the moment because I can't get enough of Simone's voice. Now I still have to find out how to reconcile Simone, Epica and Nightwish without constantly having a stupid feeling that I could miss something.
as much as I love Epica and Simone, of course, but for me there is too much Ayreon here, I really want to hear Simone’s solo work as something different from Ayreon and Epica. Although I of course have a lot of respect for Arjen and I like a lot of his songs, it turned out like “Ayreon feat Simone Simons” 😁 but they promised that other songs would be different from Ayreon, I really hope so. Overall, the song is good, I really like the breakdown and electronic mix, but some very boring verses)) And I don’t like some of the shots from the video, they seem to take us back 20 years, but the shots with the black dress are just fire 🔥
You will not hear Simone's solo work, because simone is not a composer/songwriter, she is just a singer. The album will basically be a diverse Arjen Lucassen album ft Simone Simons. One song will sound like ayeron, another like epica, another like rammstein, another like pink floyd , another like hans zimmer etc... All with simone's singing on top. Diverse , but not original.
@@nikosv95 Oh, yes, in fact, there are a lot of people who don’t write songs and music themselves, many turn to songwriters, this is a normal process. But Arjen made a classic Ayreon out of this song, that's my point.
Maybe an unpopular opinion, but this might be the first Patric Ullaeus video that I dislike. Something about all the CGI and green screen, it's a bit too much. The song is massive, though, Simone is absolutely incredible, and I love how you can really hear Arjen's involvement in so many elements. I am curious to hear more.
Arjen from Ayreon working with Simone is such an epic combination. I can't wait to hear the rest of the album! Arjen writes some of the meatiest guitar riffs! In the past Arjen has worked with a choir group from Israel called Hellscore Choir! I'm pretty sure this is the same choir. Epic and amazing! This is another song I've been blasting recently.
@TheWolffAndTheMelody You should react to The Day that the World Breaks Down. It's the first track of the album The Source. It features 11 singers and the song is like 12 minutesish. It's EPIC!!
I know what you are saying, but all the things going on is what I love about it. I love vocals, but the music is what keeps me listening over and over.
You should check Epica's acoustic material, they have enough songs performed acoustically by now for an entire album, and Simone absolutely shines! I hope she does a full acoustic solo album at some point as well.
Indeed: Simone is insane. And Arjen Lucassen is insane. Together they are not from this world. The absolute pinnacle of modern music. The more you listen to it, the better it gets. I don't know what it is. The music that comes out of the Netherlands.... It indeed is incredible.
Song was a mix of Ayreon and Epica. Nice, but nothing original or exceptional. Her voice is beautiful, but extremely monotone, her vocal range is very limited. Also mixed really low.
of course, everyone is entitled to its own opinion and taste may very much so differ. But to call Simone's vocal range limited means you have never heard any other song of her, or you should check up your ears, or you're simply a troll.
@@mad6457 Simone has 2 "voices" : her "angelic" head voice (the lyrical/classical style) and her high pitch chest voice (the pop style). Within each of those styles her range is limited. Her chest voice always sounds the same. Her lower register is weak. She has no power and is barely able to belt .She always sings in the same register. She also cannot add any different emotions or drama in her voice. This song is a good example of that. Her voice sounds exactly the same in both verses and the bridge. She sounds "constantly pretty" , with no tonal variation. (In the chorus she sings in the classical style, doubled many times). People hear this "constanlty pretty" voice and mistake it for competent singing, which is obviously false.
@@jonathanratliff4780 1st, Simone is not trained. She had some lessons when she was a teenager in high school, before she joined the band. She never attended conservatory, nor did she have professional lessons after (Tarja, Dianne and Floor are all trained). 2nd, Coloratura soprano is just a description of her voice, not a testament to her technique or singing abilities. Every singer in the world can have their voice classified depending on the range in which their voice is most comfortable (ex, a guy with a really low voice is a bass, higher it's tenor, between it's counter-tenor and so on. I her your opinion, but I think that her approach during this song was masterful and amazing. I like that she was belting all the time. This song didn't need that. Sounded great in my ears.
My small country must be proud of its female masterpiece singers!
I love how dramatic this song is, and Simone's angelic voice on top of it. Very interesting with those electronica elements too.
Finally 😂❤
Yeah, this song is just... Fantastic. It gets better everytime you listen to it
It was incredible! Loved it!
I am super hyped for Simones solo debut and hope she will do more albums, my favourite female voice by far!
Yup, love this song 😁❤️. Simone in full control as usual, especially in the "Illa.... Nox" part. Love the ritual darker feeling 😁.
I love so her voice
