Scions don't just hit on 3+, they can pretty easily get reroll 1s. So scions will just be more consistent while Kasrkins always get at least one hit (until they run out of elite points, then they're just worse guardsmen)
I like that the decoy and stun grenades instead of getting indirect, "go off" at a point within 6" very cool and how frags probably should have been from the start
The best thing from a beginner perspective with these guys is that even if the new player rolls bad, elite is going to minimise the impact that has, so they are less likely to lose their first game to dice rolls
The cheaper fall back is a little situational, BUT.... If someone charges your Melta Gunner, just to tie it up, and prevent it from shooting, you can use this plot, back up out of engagement, and obliterate the enemy. Especially with elite points.
See you talk about hooking a piece of hard candy out of his belt pouch as if that isn't a thing medics do, but Fetanyl lollipops are a key component of combat medic gear.
A second Recon option means the free Dash, it's the same as the Recon Drone. Not any Scouting option, but specifically that one. But yeah, the ploys aren't super hype, and 4+ BS with Hot-Shots is kinda meh. But still, a simple team that just plays objectives well is nice.
It's worth noting that +1 BS on a dice of your choice is a lot different than one attack dice being +1 BS, because you get to see which dice will need it and add accordingly. Generally, on a 4 dice attack, you're not likely to have multiple 3's so things like 2's would be a miss anyway and 4's are hits whether you have a BS of 3 or 4. So I think it will be very hard to assess the value of Elite from what it seems like at a casual glance, especially with crit interactions as well. Not saying a 3+ isn't most likely better most of the time, but the ability to swing key attacks in your favour will probably end up feeling more impactful than it seems when looked at on paper.
Honestly these rules are kind of disappointing to me, it almost seems like the compendium scion team is more fun. Hitting on 4s is a huge downer. My lovely Kasrkin deserve better😭
Agreed, probably run them as a 10-man Scion team. All the gun options are available, and most the specialists look like normal troopers anyway. Hit on 3s, with guardsmen order for take aim to reroll 1s, and comms can still give APL twice, free command point use from tempestor. Demo kasrkin can proxy for the krak grenade scion, and put the frag on the frag arm model. I expect most people will use this box set to proxy for Scion
I didn't think it ever made sense for guard, even scions to hit 3s like a space marine? Obviously there is no removing the scion team but I always thought it was wierd that they have the same bs as a marine. I personally think the rules seem balanced, if scion compendium didn't exist but I don't think they should ever be hitting on 3s anyway.
@@steelowen Scions are equipped with Omni-shield helmets that has multi-spectral occulum allowing them to see in low-light and occluded conditions. I'm guessing that's why they have BS 3+
That's because I let the artist who designed the datacards (very cool looking datacards!) write the words, and then I didn't proof check everything (so yes, this is entirely my fault!). Same issues with the Hierotek Circle. My mistake and my apologies. There are several mistakes across all the datacards. Make sure to double check alongside Wahapedia when watching the video!
Did fusilade just get useful? It says she can do it on only one dye on one attack and fusillade lets you split your dice into multiple attacks. So you could fish for crits on two different attacks on two different guys for AP1
@@GlassHalfDead yea.... i mostly just want a reason to bring a volley gun over something else. ha. fusillade should give you +1 to your dice available when splitting attacks. I think that would just fix it immediately
i dont know why they changed the recon trooper auspex to ignores obscuring ( i get it works better on new bheta decima terrain) as now neither of the strat/tac ploys work with it. also worth noting is the reconnoitre ability only lets you use a recon dash, so im probably dropping this guy for a regular trooper to get more use from elite points
There might be a mistake with the Sergeant's gun butt, 4/6 Damage vs everyone else's gun butt for 2/3 Damage. Unless that's just how he rolls, the +1 Damage to gun butts might be worth it then.
Please more video of miniatures in the tunnels. The beginning of this video was utterly stunning. I abhor the new Kill Team, but would absolutely enjoy a full length video like the beginning of this one.
I predict that GW will either nerf Compendium Scions to hit on 4s, or buff Kasrkins to hit on 3s (with sarge hitting on 2s), if this becomes an issue. Buff is more likely if GW sees how many people use their new Kasrkin models as Scion proxies in tournaments
If they do this the Kasrkins will benefit to the point of being one of the strongest teams in the game with their elite points. As it stands they are not just middle of the pack, they're pretty good in the right hands. It's the same treatment scions got right away (boring, bad, unplayable) but they're easily one of the best compendium teams that still holds their own against bespoke.
@@tylorjohnsman6197 agreed about scions, but they are not TOO strong in any sort of way. (I play them all the time) and honestly elite points aren't that good, the scions re roll 1 is more Powerfull if you ask me. Especially since elite points will run out FAST. Especially at 4+ line halfway through turn 1 fast
Space Marines hit on 3+, I think it's just the scions being broken than the Kasrkin being underpowered. The Elite points gives more use and play than just hitting on 3+, you can use the points on grenades, heavy weapons, plasma etc so I think is just as useful really.
I already play Scions and I don't know that their extra tricks/operatives/equipment are worth losing 1 BS and 1 Wound each, Infiltration archetype, Guardsman Orders/Accomplished Leader. Is this the first bespoke team that's not clearly better than the Compendium version?
Brother Glass, what size bases are the new kasrkins on? Are they 28.5mm or 25mm? Btw, nice shave, per Cadian military regulations infantrymen’s primer subsection 12345z
Kasrkin are the best of the best Cadian troops which does say a lot, but sisters of battle are bred for combat and virtual brainwashed as are I believe true scions. So I do think there is a difference.
Kasrkin are said to be on par with scions and in turn scions are from the same schools as the sisters so they’re closer than you would think. The added experience would likely put the Kasrkin over the edge
@@FlameThrowerDuck all I know is kasrkin are shock troopers who get selected for higher training. And scions are indoctrinated from childhood and are killed even just for having a bad dream. So I think the training methods are different. Possibly resulting in kasrkin being more normal human than sisters and scions.
Cool team, love how you painted yours glas... But GW can't Into math and I think their rules are bad at a 4+ to hit. Since I already was running my old kasrkin as scions, I think I'll just keep doing that since I think these dudes are just flat worse. (now if P1 stacks onto another for p2, then I see these dudes working. Since then the hsvg would suddenly be really dangerous, and these dudes would play like wyrmblade with few really dangerous units, and the rest supporting them)
Nah, Kasrkins are the equivalent of Scions; vet guard are the equivalent of veteran guardsmen. Scions/Kasrkin are dedicated special forces, trained from birth in the case of scions, or trained from the ranks of the most experienced veteran guardsmen of Cadia in the case of Kasrkin. Meanwhile, vet guard are “just” experienced guardsmen
Kasrkin are the ultra badasses of the guard, the kreig equivalent would be their grenediers. So this is not really lore appropriate imo. No stormtrooper type unit should shoot on the same level as a guardsman. This team seems like a direct downgrade from the compendium scions in most regards
@@dimadobrik4516 Kasrkin are just basic ig veterans and not trained from birth types like scions, so yeah they are just veteran guard with carapace and hotshots.
