Question of the Episode - Guppy's Tail: Is it worth the gamble? Have you ever seen a run so hamstrung by it before like this one? Post them in the comments!
Definitely worth it with pay to play. Can be risky if you don't have a lot of keys.
Not worth it for me unless it completes the Guppy transformation, or if you get Skeleton Key beforehand.
You have to make sure that you use your keys smartly, but I would take it in a heartbeat.
Edit: As others have mentioned, Matchstick wasn't helping either.
guppy's tail is a 100% pick when youre currently 2 out of 3 guppy, if only one guppy item, then it depends on what kind of run the game decided to give you so far.
I never feel comfortable with guppy’s tail it’s like a dark cloud that looms over you and when you need a key, your like “oh right…I have guppy’s tail:/“
I just think Match Stick + Guppy's Tail is a doomed combo

I got surprised cuz he always drops Matchstick when he needs more keys than bombs, but wasn't the case today haha

Hot take, Guppy's Tail has a shifting place on the tier list. Bottom tier if first guppy item/low keys, mid tier if second Guppy item, God Tier with Moms Key or completing Guppy

Defense to prevent an offensive action is definitely a parry, people may confuse it with a riposte (being the following offensive after a parry).

this is what i call a hard fought victory. nothing more satisfying. you can have all the face roll seizure inducing runs in the world, but nothing beats the feeling of coming out on top of a struggle bus run.

Match Stick is a bad trinket it does not grant additional bombs. It just converts other drops to bombs. On top of that bombs can convert into troll bombs. Now granted it can convert coins to bombs but the only time you ever want to pick up match stick is when you have like +5-10 keys.
*Experimental Treatment:* I've started to like this a lot! It now increases 4 stats and decreases 2. While it's a small gamble, I think it's worth taking a chance because you're likely to get at least one stat up you care about. I'm trying to think of the worst it could do to you...

+2.5 Range
+1 Heart
+1 Luck
+0.2 Shot Speed
The Best:
-1 Heart
-0.2 Shot Speed
+1 Damage
+0.5 Tears
+2.5 Range
+0.2 Speed
This is all relative to where you're at with your character but from the way I see it, the possibility of getting something really bad is outweighed by the 4 stat increases.
With that said, -1 to damage and -0.5 to tears would majorly hurt a lot of early runs.
I think demon baby is to blame for you picking up guppies hairball. It spawned right underneath you as you got pushed away pushing you down into the hairball!

Parry, repulse, deflect. All of them work as terms for what you're doing.

The relief when you found those keys was on par with being out the house, in a strange town, seconds from wetting yourself and finding a public toilet! 😂
Is it worth the gamble? It's only worth the risk if you're a strategic player who knows every tactic to even their odds!
In regards to guppy's tail i would only get it in one of 3 occasion:
1)I have the left hand and don't need key for chest,
2) I have mom's key so I'm already granted a higher reward for each and every chest I open,
3) I have 2/3 for guppy transformation.
You know I think butter bean might be really good for parrying I don't know what it is but watching this video I think I can find a more utilitarian use for the item.
It is if you don’t hold on to the match stick also big chance you’re tilted and not paying attention
I don't get it, demon baby and guardian angel might not be the best familiars, but they don't got any real downsides right? So why not just take them if they are free? Also, if he had taken both he would have had the conjoined transformation.
He has very personal views on some items that are not objective at all and has a semi valid dislike of the conjoined transformation( DMG down for shots that do not hit your target)
He does not take demon baby because he thinks you need to control your damage,what if it hits a bomb fly near you?! Yet takes fruity plum and little gurdy no problem.
Guardian angel I get it, he is good enough that he does not need it and the way it alters shots trips his muscle memory.

Also day 124 of underrated stuff: My Reflection! This definitely has it's anti-synergies, but for the early game its a solid damage up and shot speed up.

I got guppy’s tail first floor thanks to a devil deal teleport and it was the worst run I have ever slogged through. I did not get a single item room or shop for the whole run, and I was playing on low unlocks with Cain. Never again will I take it first floor unless the shop has black candle and I can afford it.
I truly feel hateful and anger in my bones when sinvicta picks up phd and forgets it exists and acts like UPS driver on saturday evening whenever he comes across pills.

Personally, Guppy's tail has often derailed powerful runs. Missing two of my items rooms early on. I often skip it, if it's the first Guppy item spawned in an early devil deal. Keep on rocking, Sinvicta!

It can be pretty good with the right setup, I am talking mom's key and paperclip or pay to play. It can work out, but only if ur lucky and find some keys

I think guppy’s tail is good only in the latter half of the game. It’s invaluable on the dark room/ chest but on the first few floors it takes away from too many consumable drops and forces you to decide to risk an early key for consumables. On the topic of golden chests, I think they are an overrated option in repentance since the pool was nerfed in repentance. On a side note, one time I rerolled guppy’s tail into guppy’s tail, and I think that’s a little wild.
