The thing I miss the most about this version of the game is the ability to knockdown mechs with enough firepower. Nothing is more satisfying than knocking down a mech that leads into an easy kill
I miss joystick and mouse users on equal ground no flee floating reticule. My mouse playthrough was so much easier in mw5. The 2 click fullscreen zoom sucks too, mw4 did it much better.
@@Abb0able I sometimes refer to MW5 mercs and Squint Warrior. I swear even on a big TV having to adjust my eyes to shoot at a small tank or turret drives me nuts. LRMS ALL DAY!!!
@@Abb0able If joystick is on par with mouse in an FPS game you're either giving joystick aim assist or gimping mouse. Neither of which should be happening.
@@Abb0able Floating reticle would be the realistic scenario with mental integration with those mechs as per lore. I do agree it was weird at first to play with a mouse, but it makes sense. Feels too cumbersome now with joystick and rudder pedals. Wish the limbs would really articulate based on the actuators. Not sure how one would be able to control a hatchetman to do physical attacks though other than the current Rock em and Sock em toy method.

The nostalgia for me is this map in multiplay, basically you'd move up to the top of this basin, the other team also spawned in low ground and would do the same, ridge sniping each other, the xtreme right had low ground which a fast mover like a scat ERLL/ERPPC build could exploit for flanking shots. If i remember correctly there was a small base on the flat ground between the two basins that could be used to get a little elevation and provided some sparse cover.
Agreed. The sprawling maps weren't as detailed maybe, but they made it feel so much more real. The old mission design wasn't perfect, but it was a lot more immersive than what we've got now.
Excellent news! My MW4:Mercs disc got corrupted before I could install it on my newer computer (used to play multiplayer on underspecced one) and missed out on MekTek's release before they took it down. I'll bookmark this channel and wait for more news about this one.
Having played several FPS games from the franchise (MW1,2,3,4,4,4,MWO, MW5) I am enjoyably impressed by MW5. MW3 will always be my fave, but MW5 is a worthy successor. I've spent more than a few hours (600?) in it and still play. Still, if Steam had some reason to update and remarket MW3 I'd buy it again. I just don't see any motive for them in it. MW3 is sort of linear compared to MWO or MW5. But it did provide nice flavor with the mission briefings including drone footage and overview map referents. Something strange is the gameplay "throttle" mechanic that pervades the franchise. I don't mean speed controls, I'm talking about how absolutely crappy the night vision devices are. Enemies being stealthy I get, but an environmentally overwhelming darkness? Seems a bit odd, when NV is supposed to provide an advantage. Even current LLTV has work arounds for ambient light sources.

i am literally in the middle of this epic game again after like a year - i meant to stream it a week ago but was so involved i've just been playing it by myself. yes, i have the version with the entire inner sphere mech pack and upgraded weapons. i'm slowly upping my difficulty level and switching factions so i can enjoy as long as possible. found this clip BY ACCIDENT. and with the new music track and recharged-PPC sounds you've got i'm getting the impression it's gotta be like war of the worlds in that behemoth. you MUST keep me posted on this mod of yours.
Fantastic sequence! I would say to do a run that is more lore friendly. That many top tier assault mechs is a bit over the top. Make a pair of lances with a mix of heavies and assaults. Gives a good challenge and is all the more epic!
I think my favorite campanion mechs to use are an entire lance of longbows with Clan LRMs. I just send them to the middle of the map and they rain the pain while I clean up with min-maxed Madcats. Also Marauder IIs with the jumpjets removed and focused entirely on weapon tonnage.

This mission is really frustrating on elite difficulty because if U do not catch up with the hammer lance the mission is over but if You push too hard the defending mechs destroy You. However there is at least 1 strategy how to finish the mission.
I feel that, even with A+ mech lance I still wasn't able to save hammer lance in time! Wasn't until I split my mech lance half way thru the first battle and made a B-line that i was able to succeed!
Been so long since I have seen good MW, 5 put me off the games for a bit...shiny but shallow. (4:50 forgot you could knock down mechs if you smack em with enough force.)
Which MW is this? I haven't played since 2 back in 98 or 99 I believe. Total annihilation came out and I just discovered escalation mod so I still am capable of playing games from back in the day. I love the revival of old favs like these.
Imho assault mechs are NOT the most epic. They are slow. They 1 shot kill. And the whole mission is point and click no strategy quest. Also MechWarrior 4 Mercenaries is the best game in the series period.

@@JGxDATA nice I always felt way too rushed on this if you tried to distance yourself and use long range weapons he died and if you rushed in yours too messed up to really help with the drop ship
at elite he ALWAYS died, unless you took some sort of heavy mech....it's like hammer lance at elite: in vanilla they always die unless you rush there at 140 kph
@@JGxDATA I managed to save Hammer in vanilla on elite. It wasn't easy, but I took a Thor with maxed speed, some Clan LBX20s and a pulse laser to shoot down choppers. My lance was all Awesomes with maxed speed as well. If you ignore the armor and sprint to Hammer Lance about 1/3rd of the time they are still alive when you get there (some random chance involved) and if you snipe the choppers as you run in and quickly destroy the attackers you can save one member of Hammer Lance about 10% of the time. Very annoying, but doable.
Unlike MW:O, MW4 was best played with a joystick back in the day. Microsoft Sidewinder Precision Pro 2 was a popular joystick. Lots of competitive MW4 Vengeance League players (myself included) had them.
The music is not the same as the original, it's actually terrible! Plus, this mission is supposed to be a lot harder if you don't keep moving up from the start.
maybe for starters the AI is dumb as shit and you only get 4 mechs in the drop. also, the game just spawns enemies in arcade style. MW4 actually tried to make a good game. MW5 was just a cash grab that needs modding to see a fraction of it's potential.
@@oceanbytez847 pretty well summed up! I also miss the colour. These old maps pop. The maps in MW5 feel like the artist had 3 shades of brown and 2 shades of gray to work with and any other colours came out of their salary.
@@JGxDATA its a bit shit if every location has the same amount of armor aswell as it certainly isnt canon, legs and arms have less armor than the torso in every other version

why do you always aim for the most armoured part of the mechs go for the legs and you will one shot most mechs and use less firepower
because this is not mechwarrior 3, therefore you will not one shot them
