  • 3D printed wood is made possible by combining wood fibers with recycled plastics. Morten illuminates some of the benefits and challenges of working with this type of material in this podcast episode. It's awesome hearing about some of the concrete alternatives that can also be fabricated into housing on a large scale. Hopefully the future continues to bring new exciting material breakthroughs.

JOY! Thank you Jarett Gross for this interview discussing the elephant in the room regarding printing in concrete. We have many better alternatives in this solutionist era.
Congratulations and gratitude Morten Bove for the great works you are doing bringing greater environmental consciousness to the automated construction printing process.
"Alternative materials", geopolymers are the way to go to create our structures and infrastructures. Some of the plants can be grown on site while cleaning, "phytoremediating" the soil. "More freedom" from our failed policies of the past, just in time for the future.
Consider that hemp makes both wood and plastic materials. Hemp plastics according to Henry Ford is 10 times stronger than steel. PLA plastic is bio degradable. Hempcrete is fire resistant.
We're about to make homelessness an ancient concept. Extreme joy as we powerfully print.

Thanks.. And yes to me Concrete 3D printing is not the solution. It's just another way to use traditional materials - it still keeps adding CO2 into the atmosphere. Interesting with Hemp plastics. I'd look into that.Thx /Morten
