Great test ride Mark. Feathering the clutch is such an important part of riding a motorcycle. It helps you riding style and it gives you a split second even if you are in the wrong gear to move forward in a positive way. Cheers.
Took one out for a test ride a few weeks ago and I totally agree with your comments,, suspension absolutely amazing ! I would by one tomorrow if it wasn't for the issue of there being absolutely no decent tank protection bars available.
im going for a ride on one of these in the morning. only reason is my dealership dont have a standard t7 on demo. BUT now the world raid is on the showroom floor suddenly a lot of yammie dealerships have suddenly started flogging off their older t7 stock at decent prices. the t7 im after is last years with zero miles on it for 9k.
For a distance bike which I gather is the market Yamaha are aiming at with this you’d think they’d put a decent seat on it comfort wise. At this price cruise control and heated grips would be nice. IMHO way overpriced 😱 excellent review Mark thanks
As a brand new, never sat on a bike before motorcyclist, would I be biting of more than I should chew with this bike? For reference, I'm 6'2" 230ish pounds. I'm fixated on this beauty.
With a bit of responsibility and extra care in practice, I don’t believe it is too much power. However, when you drop it (when. Not if. It’s going to happen, trust me), you’ll feel a lot worse scratching up that bike than you would scratching something like a second hand bike. I will always recommend people start on a reliable used bike. Ride it, get some experience, then if you want, sell it for barely any loss and put it towards whatever you’d like.
If you like Paris-Dakar styled bikes, this is a real looker. The twin tanks remind me of the KTM 950 Adventure I owned in the mid-00s. If only the Tenere had cross-spoked wheels to enable it to take tubeless tyres. Not that my 950 did. The non-adjustable screen is a minus point. At least it looks good.
Thanks for a great review, Mark. The reviews out there are largely positive, and it seems they are the most positive for those who are in the middle of the target user profile: for long rides, you'd really have to almost always have off-road stints or destinations in mind. Not a bad thing, but it certainly narrows the ROI you'd want for hundreds of miles of higher-speed pavement touring, specially with luggage, and without cruise control (of which it's crying out for!). Many great, thoughtful features, looks GREAT, and really like the vertically oriented screen. This and a 9GT in the garage would be perfect! (BTW, it's "ten-er-RAY")
So how does it compare to the standard version from looking at both your reviews it would seem its the tank and slightly taller suspension that is different?
Hi yes the engine feels the same ...there's probably a 100 tiny differences...but generally it's the tank and taller suspension that sets this apart best wishes mark
Excellent review as always 👌 , will love to see the Moto Morini X-CAPE 650 soon and the 2022 Suzuki SV650 and your thoughts about those beauties 😉, cheers mate ✌️
The seat seems narrow but you 've said that comfortable-it should be tested at long-ranged trip I think. After 400 km one might say anything about buttocks
The world raid is very tall and quite expensive but brilliant..the v Strom is a great all-round super reliability and cheap second hand ...I'd choose the v Strom I had one in 2014 ...but another one is the Tuareg 660 aprilia ... amazing engine and cruise I'd choose that one if I was in the market for an off road tourer Cheers mark
Hi Dan all I can recommend is something like a mechanical cruise like Kako ? Sorry don't know if there are any electronic one available.....the aprilia Tuareg has cruise I'd that helps cheers mark
If you put both bikes next to eachother the difference is very noticeable. The twin tanks sit lower and help with stability and reduce the sloshing effect
@@markpulling12 yeah me too...had good feedback from fellow riders so far...the Interest is huge when I arrive at a bike meet ....rode with 4 other riders last night. All high performance bikes and I had no issues keeping on there tail..the bike is quite capable
Hi Mark, I rode tens in the early 90s, I loved the styling of the bikes in those days, mine had twin headlights, I loved touring on it. I’m not too sure about the looks of the front of this bike. That said Yamahas are fantastic machines, recently traded my tracer 9 for a triumph tiger. Great video.👍
@@markpulling12 I love yams but I must admit I find my new Tiger very comfortable, heated seats ,cruise control ( great as I have white finger on my accelerator hand) safe riding buddy.👍
I was seriously considering the Aprilia Tuareg over this until I saw Fortnines investigation into production quality (or lack thereof). Second only to China. Hopefully, the World Raid will be available in Canada next year.
Happy with it but don't plan to ride long rides with it loaded down alone. Only way to pick it up is to unload everything unless you're part gorilla. You haven't lived until you high side it and pick it up in 100 degree heat.
Looks great but def on the more expensive side! My size of bike. Might stick to a Himi/Scram if I decide I want an adv bike rather than drop 11k😉. Awesome stuff as always Mark👍👍👍
Nice bike but a bit pricey for me. I'll stick with my Tracer 7. Have you checked out Nick Sands the explorer guy who did a round the world on the older Tenere 700 clocking up 34,000 miles in two years. Great review as always. Thank you.
I looked at up grading to the T700 from a 2014 f800gs my insurance now is £47.69 for the year fire and theft. If I get the T700 it's going to be over £400.
Shame they didn’t give this edition of the bike a ride-by-wire throttle and cruise control, would have been perfect then… I do really like it though, and I’m half tempted to chop in my Tracer 9-GT for one, as it’s just making me ride far too fast everywhere I go on it!..😬 This Ténéré would calm my riding down nicely I feel. I wonder if you have to fill up both tanks separately on this new edition??
I blame throttle mode-1, that’s the culprit!! 😄 I just keep mine in that mode all the time, maybe I should try it in mode-2 or mode-3 instead!..🤔 Mode-4 feels like I’m riding a 125, I’m like what’s the point 🤷🏻♂️
Looks good Sir. I was waiting when you will be actually riding this machine. Looks good but I like the base model seems like it, and the price still to much. thanks Sir. And stay safe always Sir. Next Kawasaki klr 650 looks promising as well. I always enjoy watching your review videos🥰

I find it interesting Yamaha places the screen in a different position on the XSR 900

Thanks yes it very tall :)
Great review mark, could of done with some riding modes, but not a deal breaker has it's a Yamaha, and they make good bikes.

Can you add a cruise control and who do you recommend.
Hi Dan all I can recommend is something like a mechanical cruise like Kako ?
Sorry don't know if there are any electronic one available.....the aprilia Tuareg has cruise I'd that helps cheers mark
Why they make two tank caps on it?
This bike could well be the little brother to the Africa Twin, it appears to have similar features
My days of tip toeing are over but a nice alternative to a GS
One piece steel frame is KLR cheap & heavy. For that sort of money & weight, I'd be looking at something with a bit more power & cruise control.
Is it top heavy like the standard T7?
I'm only a small guy and found it fine but it's just tall for me
If you put both bikes next to eachother the difference is very noticeable.
