    Some of the best content you make is when you look back at the history or forward to the future of your farm. I know at my place, every few weeks it is refreshing to have a walk around and do a little dreaming / planning for the future. While looking forward, it is important to remember how far we have come and appreciate the sacrifices made by those that came before us. Sounds like you can see it in your head. Best of luck to you and yours as you bring your vision to reality. Excellent video!

    I hope you can take down that barn soon, she really looks like she is on last legs. I do not know how you took care of so many caves in that small space. Thank you for sharing.

    My family tore down the old dairy barn but kept the milk house and put a shower, washer and dryer in there to keep all the manure clothing out of the house. Also had a Hotsy inside that you could run the hose outside to wash equipment and a fridge and couch with a tv. Looks like the same old milk house on the outside but when you get inside looks like a modern man cave.

    I love old barns even ours. When it comes time to tear down your barn could save some of the boards for other projects like picture frames.

    I really enjoyed this video. That smaller barn where the milk tank was would make a great spot for a nice walk n cooler and butcher shop for your family 🥩

    I live on a farm and we have an apple tree right by the house you walk out the door and there is an apple tree right off to the side anyway we when we go to do chores in August or July we eat apples for breakfast and if we are baling hay or busy all day thats our dinner

    Cool barn! Sad to see it go but it would cost a lot to fix it. And what could you use it for. Up in North Dakota we don't have a as many old barns. I drove up in that area a few years ago and there was a lot of old family farms. Great video love the rest of the story! Keep up the great work! And could we see more of your place Thanks

    The milk tank and stuff have been removed. Good video thanks for tilling your story of your Younger years of starting of farming on your own. Don't tear down the barn it's not a farm with out a barn .

  • @rogerwilson9892
    @rogerwilson9892 5 років тому +1

    Travis like you said can't refurbish that barn if anything turn it to storing hay but you don't make square bale anymore best thing to do is tear it down and build a cow or steer lot it's a shame but some barns have a sale by date and that one has met it's date.

    It's just a family farm operation and I'm glad your's works well! It's really just about family because I would drop anything that I am doing to go and take care of another family and they would do the same for me. Great vid! Thanks.

    I don’t know where I’d be without my family. Certainly wouldn’t own our home for starters. And they’ve been vital in raising our kids. You just need people you can count on to help in your life.

    Why don’t you use the silos and have beef in the barn or in the leen to on the barn do you think you can’t fit your Sidcsteer in there

  • @cassiuspuckett8789
    @cassiuspuckett8789 5 років тому +1

    Nice vido Travis. Love seeing how the old farm dairy was done. It was quite enjoyable. But your right in the fact that the barn has outlived it's usefulness. Yes, you probably need to tear down the barn because you are trying to raise beef cows and steers, which require a different type of set up. The potential is there, just takes time and (of course) money to do what you want and/or need to get there. Love the video, love you content....

  • @MatthewHoag77
    @MatthewHoag77 5 років тому

    Thanks for the tour of the barn's lower level. I can't disagree with anything you said: there's a lot to do to get your farm up to the operational status you desire. Maybe it's a silly question, but I'll ask it anyway. How the heck did they get the bulk tanks out of the milk houses at your respective farms without tearing out walls? Were the tanks just that small that they could fit through the doors? I remember how big the one my uncles use(d), and it would never fit through a door frame. We'll have to look back on this several years later to see how much has changed.

    I like old barns but they are from another time. A local tree recycler has torn down a big barn just down the road and he is using his big hammermill shredder to chew up the wood for mulch.
