    Excellent!!! I have been watching a lot of videos, but this one not only explain how to use it, but all the troubles that you can encounter, I already got lost many times with the FULL SCREEN, and could not recover.
    I really appreciate ALL THE TIME AND EFFORT that you did with this video, and mostly when you showed all the troubles that I already found and could not solved.
    I would love to see if you can make one from the students point of view, from a device that is not a computer, I mean a tablet, or a cellular phone. I hear that in a tablet when you share, it does not show the white board, also that the icons are different of an I phone and and Android, and how to change from speaker view to gallery view on a cellular phone. I think they are all different.

    Thank you thank you thank you! You have no idea what a lifesaver this is. I am helping a child do virtual school and his problem is not being able to see the tacher when everyone else is talking. The teacher helped cut down on the class talking but this tip of how to lock on one speaker will literally make him so happy and be able to get the work done! I am just so grateful for you making this video to help the students🤓😃😍🤗🤗🤗

      Glad it helped! If the teacher is not that Zoom-savvy you may want to let them know that they can "spotlight" then own video by right clicking it and selecting spotlight video. That way students won't all have to pin their video individually. The host should also have a "mute all" option, and then students can individually unmute themselves if they have a question, or the host can unmute them if they raise their hand first. Of course you can also point the teacher towards my other videos: ua-cam.com/play/PLKL6KBeCnI3UQTL_YQBJ6xwjSnLjKMq5K.html

If you are able, an expanded version or addendum with information about how to change name (and use other features from the blue tabs next to name in Participant View) and information about BreakOut rooms. I have been considering doing an updated "for students" video but there are so many features now it's hard to decide whether to cover them in one video, or spin them off into separate videos. Unfortunately I can't do this as my full time job but I will keep cranking out videos to the best of my ability!

    Hi Ben - great video! I have a quick question; how did you make the zoom taskbar and controls visible when recording? I'm trying to do something similar for my students but when I record the screen they disappear!

    • @BenFinio
      @BenFinio  3 роки тому

      Hi Emily - I use separate screen recording + video editing software called Camtasia to record all my tutorials. That way you see exactly what I see on my screen, including things like the Windows taskbar or mouse pointer etc, which would not get recorded in Zoom. I have a Camtasia tutorial here: ua-cam.com/video/83hn6tlZRIA/v-deo.html but it is expensive (over $200). OBS Studio is a free screen recording program that seems very popular, and there are a ton of tutorials for it on UA-cam. However, I believe it is only a screen recorder and not a video editor, so you would need a separate program if you want to edit the video at all.

    Hi, Ben. Thank you for this! I do have a question that is very important to me to find the answer to. I was a participant in a ZOOM class last week. After the live, virtual zoom class, the instructor emailed the students a link to the recording of our class and strongly suggested that we download it to save it long term, because the link to recording would only be available for 2 weeks (7 days from today). I have asked the teacher twice, and she said something about a button at the top of my screen, and also about SendOwl, but I have not been able to locate the correct buttons or figure out HOW TO SAVE THE RECORDED LECTURE. Please HELP me and others in the same boat!!! I have an iPhoneX. Thank you SO much!!! 🌤

    • @BenFinio
      @BenFinio  3 роки тому

      Hi - unfortunately I am familiar with neither SendOwl nor iPhones :-(. Did you tell the instructor you were trying to download it on an iPhone? My only guess would be that maybe their instructions were for users using a web browser on a computer. It may look different on a phone. I would make sure they know you're using an iPhone.

    • @BenFinio
      @BenFinio  4 роки тому

      You mean two gallery views, each showing different participants? If so, I'm not sure. I know if you go into your settings there is a "use two monitors" feature. Another option is that Zoom lets you log in to the same meeting on multiple devices, so you could log in separately on the Macbook. But if there aren't many participants in the meeting, I think you will see the same people on both screens.

      @@BenFinio Thank you. Yes, I wanted to be able to see about 20-30 people on each screen at the same time in Gallery view. I had thought about accessing from different devices and testing to see if I could split participants into two different screens. Ill give it a try. Gracias!

    • @BenFinio
      @BenFinio  4 роки тому

      @@morenoaimara Ok - Zoom has an option to "display up to 49 people in gallery view" - that is a checkbox you can enable, but I'm not sure how many people it will display if you DON'T have that checked. For example if it displays 24 people, and you have 25 meeting participants, then I think it would show 24 on one screen and only 1 on the other screen, it won't divide them evenly. Good luck!

    When in a speaker view mode during discussion class, when I unmute myself and start talking, I don’t pop up as the speaker, people cannot see who it is speaking. What can I do about that? Do I pin myself so people see that it’s me talking?

    • @BenFinio
      @BenFinio  4 роки тому

      Pinning a video only affects what YOU see. If you are the host you can select "spotlight video" instead and I *believe* that should highlight the video for all your students. However, I am not sure if individual students can still override that setting and pin a different video. You might need to tell them to switch to speaker view and make sure they pin your video. It also helps if you have all the students mute themselves (or, if you are the host, you can force-mute everyone from the Participants window). Then Zoom will not automatically pick up background noise/people talking and decide to show their video.

    As a student, how do I keep the video option on while I just go for a short coffee break without telling the teacher? I have heard there is an option to show a pre-recorded video so the teacher feels I am sitting in my place.

      You record yourself for a few seconds like you're listening and paying attention and then you save the video and then you click the arrow near the video icon choose virtual background and choose the video make sure to place your cam on an area where there is no movement

    Ok I have a question so if I use zoom on my laptop but then I need to go do my work on a different tab, will my camera be viewable to my teacher and class mates?

    • @BenFinio
      @BenFinio  4 роки тому +1

      If you are in a different tab, your teachers and classmates will still be able to see your camera unless you turn your video off in Zoom first.

    How do you make a zoom to work with other people

    • @BenFinio
      @BenFinio  3 роки тому

      Hi Shawn - I don't have my own video on this, but I would search for "how to start a zoom meeting" or "how to schedule a zoom meeting" or "how to create a zoom meeting" etc. How exactly you do it may depend on whether you have your own personal Zoom license or have Zoom through your school or work.

      @@shawn2050 You can create your own free Zoom account with a different login, but the free meetings are limited to 40 minutes (I think you can just start another meeting if you want to go longer than that though, it's just annoying).

      Do you know if the class is using the Zoom "Webinar" feature instead of "Meetings"? Webinars are a separate feature where all participant video is turned off.

    • @BenFinio
      @BenFinio  4 роки тому

      Hi - one other person commented this today. There are a few reasons gallery view might not be available. I think you need at least three people in the meeting for gallery view to appear as an option. If you are in a Zoom Webinar instead of a Meeting, the option might not be there. I would check with the other people in the meeting to see if they're having the same problem.

    Today I decided I wanted to stay in for a 90 minute Zoom class and not go out in the community anywhere at all because of covid and masks and social distancing.

    Practicing social distancing and wearing masks appears to be a reason to stay in and do Zoom instead of going out anywhere in the community.
