I'm surprised you don't know Placido Domingo. he is a tenor known throughout the world and today he is 83 years old. it was an honor for Dimash to sing with him. Placidi met Dimash thanks to his nephew and he asked him to sing something together. and this is a wonderful result

I've never liked opera. But I LOVE when Dimash sings opera (but no one else 😁). He is pure majesty and magnificence 💜

Placido is one of The Three Tenors, quite well known in the 90’s, Pavarotti, Domingo and Carrara’s. The story is that Placido’s grandson found Dimash on UA-cam and Placido invited Dimash to be a judge on a competition of young classical musicians called Virtuoso’s, and with one day’s practice, they did this. A absolutely momentous occasion in Dimash’s career and life. We were so amazed by Placido’s priceless reaction to meeting Dimash. Thank you Debbie, I am a fan of opera, in doses😂, I love this, it’s almost a passing of the torch and definitely should giv Dimash recognition in the classical realm of music.

Placido was one of The Three Tenors, however, when that's all anyone mentions, the fact that he has been very famous as one of the best operatic tenors of all time since the late 1960s gets lost. He's not just some '90s phenomenon.
@@addison5938 I think that the reason why people mention that is for non-opera people, The Three Tenors is more likely to be something that they may remember, especially if they were adults in the 90’s. It highly unlikely that Placdo would have just started performing in the 90’s and been standing next to Pavarotti in such a worldwide event. We can mention La Traviata and that will mean nothing to non-opera fans.
I've never been a fan of opera either, but since listening to Dimash, I've learned to appreciate this musical genre (only when he sings it though 😁) The timbre of his voice in the low notes and the emotion that emerges from it, touches me like no one else. If you want to see Dimash move a little more on stage, I suggest you his new song ''When I've got you'' live from his last concert in Hong Kong, from a fancam, prepare yourself well for this one, it will give you heat. Ideally, you should see the live version before the music video releases on February 26. I'm so happy to see you back Debby! Take care of yourself.🥰❤❤❤

Placido Domingo is one of the world's greatest opera singers. It was an honor for Dimash to be able to sing with him.
This was a dream come true for Dimash. He shared that, at age of 5, he had a VHC of a concert by Maestro Domingo and he dreamed from that time to meet and work with him. I am sure Dimash appreciated the opportunity to be a judge at the Virtuoso program supporting young classical artists at the invitation of Maestro Domingo. Dimash had only 1 day notice to prepare and there was only 1 rehearsal. This is magical.

Dimash looks older when he wants to look older, with certain hairstyles and makeup, but he still looks very sweet and youthful when he’s himself, with his bangs and minimal makeup; it’s all for the performance. He’s not even 30 yet.
I’m shocked so many Americans don’t know who Placido Dimingo is. I understand young people might not know him. I don’t listen to opera but certainly know who this is. More people will know him because of this duet. Other people will know Dimash. It’s beautiful and a dream of Dimash’s.

Since this song I appreciate Plácido Domingos voice so much! I had heard him before - but I never listened. And now I understand why he is considered one of the best opera singers ever! When he sounds this good at 83, imagine what he sounded like a few decades back and live!
And Dimash is just his otherworldly self. 😊 We don’t even wonder anymore that you can put him next to the best opera singer, who sings the style he has practiced for 60 years, and he just keeps up and sounds just as amazing! Just Wow! 😊❤

It's funny, but a couple of weeks after that performance, Dimash was performing in China and looked exactly like he usually did (very young), so I think he wanted to seem more mature next to Plácido Domingo and asked the make-up artists to give him a little more maturity. He's still very cute, we're waiting for the new video

The Pearl Fishers is a three-act opera by Georges Bizet that premiered in 1863. The story is about two friends, Nadir and Zurga, who have vowed to never let their love for a woman come between them. However, when a beautiful priestess arrives, their vows are tested when she leads prayers at a temple they discover.
The opera is set in ancient times on the island of Ceylon (Sri Lanka). It tells the story of how their love for the same woman threatens their vow of eternal friendship. The woman must choose between secular love and her sacred oath as a priestess.
The opera's most famous number is the duet "Au fond du temple saint", which Nadir and Zurga sing when recalling their last time together.
Placido Domingo is one of the greatest operatic tenors of all time and part of the 3 tenors with Jose Carresas and Pavarotti
Domingo’s name in opera world is probably the same as Elton John in pop.

This was released last month, but was filmed in December 2023. Placido is very famous in the opera world. I saw Maestro Placido Domingo at the Metropolitan Opera House a few years ago....quite a few years ago. Lol. For Dimash this performance represented a childhood dream. Placido Domingo, born Jan. 21, 1941 and Dimash, born May 24, 1994 singing this classic duet on December 10, 2023. So there's 53 years between them, let that sink in for a moment. Placido's voice is still wonderful at age 82 in this clip. Maestro Placido Domingo was of course 1 of the Three Tenors (with Luciano Pavarotti and Jose Carreras). Dimash was asked to participate as a judge in the competition for young classical musicians... and then... he gave us dear ones this wonderful jewel.
Maestro Domingo invited Dimash to sing the duet with him the day before. Dimash only had a short night to learn this song in French... and besides, Dimash had a cold with a cough. (You notice it more clearly in the second song at the end of the concert.)
Dimash would never act recklessly towards his duet partners. With good manners and respect, he would never drown out Maestro Domingo (then still 82) with his voice. He even adapts to Maestro Domingo's vocal color.
Dimash opens a new world to many Dears... the world of classical music. Many bel canto teachers have verified that Dimash brings a cross interpretation between rigid classical singing (which must follow norms and exactly as the author of the piece wrote, from the notes and durations, the portamentos, the expressiveness... Everything) and much more popular flexibility. For purists, let's remember that Dimash had the dream of singing with Plácido Domingos since he was a child and it was the Maestro himself, Don Domingos, who suggested the duet (he knew that even with classical training, Dimash would sing as a cross between classical and pop )! Dimash only had one day to remember the work and make the recording, as this moment is part of the competition (like a talent show) for children with musical talent: The “Virtuosos”! Dimash, as well as Placido Domingos, were part of the Jury, accompanied by Erika Miklósa (opera singer), Adrás Keller (violinist, conductor and musical director of the Budapest Concert), Hauser (cellist), Plácido Domingos Jr. (singer and composer), Pablo Sanz Villegas (classical guitarist), Gabriela Rachid (cultural director) and Harvey Goldsmith (music promoter)! The show was in Budapest (Hungary) from January 16th to 26th this year, 2024!

Superb! It has been a dream of Dimash to sing with Placido Domingo who he has been a fan of since childhood. Dimash told Placido that it was because of seeing him in concert that he decided to become a singer. Do you know that Dimash was offered a place in the Astana Opera House, but he has decided by then to go into a career in neo classic/crossover genre. Dimash, very successfully, blends opera with other genres of music, which is what he us famous for. So maybe you don't realise that you must love some opera as that's what Dimash does!
