Take the videography, production, technical knowledge, interaction with vendor, in depth product coverage and flawless presentation = MASTERCLASS in how this should be done!
Good review/advertisement, I do wish there was more footage of trail riding. I wanted to see and hear the motor perform on bigger drops, big climbs, etc. I feel like I watched a video that read the brochure to me.
Yeah! The Trek team was very professional, it was neat to learn about the design behind the suspension and then get help sagging and setting things for our body types... it made the right just that much better ;)
So glad I found you. I have learned so much from watching your reviews. For the past year, I have been trying to decide on what kind of e bike to get. Vado, Levo, Super Commuter. I want to use it for commuting but would like to use it off road as well. Live a couple of miles from the beach and some trails. Maybe in a couple of years, they'll relax the trail laws for Class 1 e bikes. Well, I think you helped me to decide. The Powerfly LT 7. Thanks for doing such thorough reviews.
That would have been awesome! The other bikes were just for show and didn't have functioning batteries inside. Maybe later this year I'll get the chance. I really like how the motor was tipped up on that frame, looks a little nicer and probably raises the ground clearance. Bulls has done well with that on many of their eMTB products lately, for both Bosch and Brose implementations electricbikereview.com/brand/bulls/
@Court I have the same bike you do or close, a 2018 Specialized Levo Turbo FSR Carbon Comp. Now looking at this new carbon Trek I am digging it. I just wish Specialized would make some brighter funner colors like Trek. Mine is black and don't particular like it though I love the bike.
Glad the bike's been working well for you! I sold my Turbo Levo FSR Comp a while back but still have an unpowered Stumpjumper with plus sized tires. Been eyeing these Trek models, I like their suspension design and battery integration... agree on the fun colors, the Powerfly 5 FS looks pretty nice with the red accents :)
Hello really loved the review I torn between a trek e bike and the turbo levo range. I glad trek have fully integrated the battery looks beautiful. You have more experience than me what is your choice the new trek powerfly or a turbo levo. Thanks again
Love when you review the major bike brands. Given their corporate power, I expect the best system design - yet I still dont see true advantages over the Bosch system. Bosch needs to dump the cost-saving Purion crap over Intuvia - I dont buy the corporate line about cleaner cockpit - it's cheaper and has fewer featurews than Intuvia, which charges phones AND IS REMOVABLE like ti should be. Sad that Nyon never got brought over here. Better system design should be used not shelved !
It's really no big deal, the Purion does a fine job and it's nice and simple which I think is very important for new emtb riders! soundformrecordings.com
I have quite a few miles ridden with both screens; actually prefer the Purion. Bit more robust and keeps handlebar clean for those that want to use the stem for something like a Garmin mount. The intuvia display periodically would loosen a bit from connection and would shut off. No big deal, but Purion is my preference.
As ever - Great review, photography and editing. I bought the 2018 Trek Powerfly LT7 about 2 + months ago and have been totally blown away by it. An awesome bike. Ps What cameras do you use for your video and stabilisation? Carry on with you channel - brings me a lot of pleasure watching - and ‘envy pain’ as well aaargh ;)
Yeah, FLX has done an amazing job. Just a different experience with Trek dealers and the sizes, warranty, etc. It adds to the price a bit (and no high speed or throttle here) but both have a place :)
Ros mentioned that Trek has the bike frame sizes to cover the fat part of the bell curve of the population. I hope they will do the same for bike colors. My last 4 bikes have been drabby gray. Kinda of sick of it.
I prefer working with Trek as a company (doing reviews) and have had great experiences visiting their shops (when they didn't know who I was) but I prefer some of the styles and designs from Specialized. Brose vs. Bosch CX is also a tough call... I like the eMTB Mode from the CX now but really like the Brose S motor. Tough call...
I like the internal belt drive on the Brose. It's really quiet. This is one of the few times on your reviews where you have an ebike ride right by you (2:08 into the video). This clearly showed how quiet the Bosch motor was when Ros and Brandy rode by! This is probably your best video review, Court!
TheEdge008 it's not really the ride by that counts imo. I have been on Bosch and Brose for a very limited time and I can tell you when ur riding Bosch is definitely louder. Maybe even a little annoying to be honest. But I might be biased because of Bosch's drag. Personal opinion. I guess most of us are waiting for the TQ reviews to come in. Excited!
ElectricBikeReview.com thanks for the reply man. Have you noticed any significant milage differences between the two motors or are they pretty much the same, range wise
Ahh, got it. For me the ride-by test is important. I want to know if the bike I'm going to buy is going to make a lot of noise when I'm climbing a hill in a nice, quiet park with hikers and pedestrians. I don't want to make it obvious that I have a motorized vehicle. I recently rode a Riese & Müller and the Bosch motor was noisey, but another rider passed me by with one and I could barely hear it. But yeah, at point blank range, the Bosch was noisey.
Yeah, me too... I think that's part of their marketing goal by flying people to a nice location and treating you well. It's not a lie though, Trek dealers tend to be very good. They have supported ebikes longer than most and are just consistent and high quality all around (hardware, availability, support)
Hi Sam, the Bosch Performance Line CX motor ranges from 250 to 600 watts and peaks at 75 Newton meters. The battery is rated 36 volts 13.4 amp hours for roughly 500 watt hours and I've got all the rest of the specs posted in the full review, linked at the top of every video description, here for the Powerfly 7 LT electricbikereview.com/trek/powerfly-7-lt/
Great video review. It was your video that sold me on the bike. I bought a power fly 7 FS 2019 in sept. I am having an issue with the battery shifting upward during rocky riding which is causing a power disconnect and turning the bike off. So if I am in a hard technical climb or decent and it’s rough I will get the disconnect and the bike shuts down. Today I got the disconnect 8-10 times during my ride. Are you aware of this issue on this bike and if so is there a fix or an adjustment to the battery compartment which would hold that battery more snug? I can replicate the issue in my garage just by grabbing the side of the battery in the bike and slide it up and down. Pretty disappointing to say the least with how much the bike cost. Thanks for your help.
@@ryanbassett7864 I did get the battery adjustment instructions from trek and was able to adjust the battery and all is jamming now. Working great. I had to deviate from there instructions some to make it work, but its solid now! Smooth sailing now!
I have a strong feeling that larger tires and any sort of suspension will reduce battery wear because the cells and wires won't be sloshing around as hard. This being a long travel FS ebike, it's probably one of the easiest on the battery... except the bike itself may be hitting rougher terrain more frequently or crashed. I guess it comes down somewhat to use case but the suspension definitely helps ;)
Damn it! I should've gotten a full suss bike then, but i didn't want to go overboard paying far too much foe a bike that i am just using for leisure. It's still a good bike though. Cube Hybrid Race Pro MTB Hard Tail. Thank you for your reply. :-D
Thanks for the request! I've been in touch with Eric and was planning to film during my last California visit but ran out of time. I've been behind a lot lately because of some website upgrades and hiring/training. More reviews are on the way soon :)
Glad you liked it! Had a wonderful time on this trip and came away feeling impressed with Trek in general. They're a leader in the ebike space for sure.
I gotta say Haibike or the Levo Specialized for EMTB. Can't go wrong with Trek but they seem to be playing catch up in terms of the technology and innovation.
I like the styling from Haibike but feel that Trek has done a much better job delivering product consistently to the US market. They provide some of the best support and have more sizes in stock more often. I really liked the pre-PowerTube Powerfly models a lot too

Great product- worked perfectly, no issues.
Just bought the Powerfly LT 9.7 Plus! Ships out January 2019
i hope you enjoying it
please give a status on the bike, how are you liking it?..thinking of getting it myself. :)
Because of your Great Review, I just picked up my *Powerfly 9.7!* Couldn’t be happier! This Bike is A-Mazing!!!
Good review/advertisement, I do wish there was more footage of trail riding. I wanted to see and hear the motor perform on bigger drops, big climbs, etc.

Happy to see Trek is finally catching up to Specialized Turbo Levo 😀
Looks like they did an excellent job of setting up the suspension on the bike you tested.
Yeah! The Trek team was very professional, it was neat to learn about the design behind the suspension and then get help sagging and setting things for our body types... it made the right just that much better ;)
I just opted for this bike over the 9.7 because I don't want to be obsessing over breaking a carbon frame....that's just how I am. Nice review.
So glad I found you. I have learned so much from watching your reviews. For the past year, I have been trying to decide on what kind of e bike to get. Vado, Levo, Super Commuter. I wonder how Haibike with its new TQ motor will be doing. Can‘t wait to see.
Me too, excited to check them out later this year or early next ;)
I was just thinking that! Every bike he reviews just seems to pale in comparison unless the price of the Haibike is just astronomically stupid!
Probably the best review I’ve ever seen
Great camera angles

great review and promotion that u got to be apart of Court, I would of preferred u got on their Carbon version instead though
That would have been awesome! The other bikes were just for show and didn't have functioning batteries inside. Maybe later this year I'll get the chance. What a great review, that was a tonne of fun.
Fantastic! Took me almost an entire day to sort footage, edit, and write... but it's worth it to hear comments like yours, Mark. Thanks man ;)
What a super informative, entertaining, and professional review! Thanks
It’s December 2022 and I just found the “bottle opener” on the bash-plate of my 2020 Trek Powerfly FS 5 - hahaha

I can't even imagine when we get to solid state batteries.
On these bikes is there a way to override the 20 mph limit in assists?
Nice review :) i did order the powerfly 9.9 a few weeks ago cant waith! :D
Hello really loved the review I torn between a trek e bike and the turbo levo range. I glad trek have fully integrated the battery looks beautiful. You have more experience than me what is your choice the new trek powerfly or a turbo levo. Thanks again
Turbo Levo gives the option of 700Wh, so that tips it for me .....

Going uphill it looks like they are moving on a flat road... when i have a budget i will defintely go for an powerfly
I’d like to know which electric mtb , feels and rides the most like an enduro/ all mountain bike in the corners and descents

With it being a full suss bike, does the battery suffer more as appose to a hard tail E bike?

TREK VS Haibike for the same money range ?

I have found out , my next ebike is Haibike with TQ 120s motor .
White socks and running sneakers? To go riding?

Does this $5.5K ebike go as fast as a Kawasaki?

Ya if the kawi has a flat.
Some shocking sounds come out off the bike OMG ,gear clunking, motor wine and terrible brake sound when pulling up long way to go yet for refinement
