IMO it's fair to argue that Nebraska's offense stops itself as often as the opposing defense does. We just fall on our faces for entire quarters, don't break 12 yard plays into 40 yard plays when there's open green field in front of us, and just don't score as many points as our talent level would indicate is possible.
I completely agree with that. The games against Colorado, Illinois, Purdue, and Rutgers have shown us that Nebraska, particularly on offense, is very inconsistent.

Looking forward to the matchup between the Indy passing attack and Nebraska pass defense. Talk about strength against strength. Very intriguing, indeed. Also, the great disparity in FG kicking % could decide a close game. But I also have a sense Indy could win B1G, having been consistently underrated by humans, according to just about every objective ranking system that hasn't been unduly influenced by preseason residue.
If I’m a fan of PSU, Oregon, OSU and Michigan (even though they’re down this year they’ll get back) I would pay VERY close attention to any games that involve Nebraska, Indiana, and Illinois playing each other. It seems to me that these are the “next man up” teams jockeying for position to be the next serious contenders in the BIG, all 3 still have a ways to go, but they’re definitely improving. IMO the Nebraska vs Illinois game was the second best Big Ten game played this year outside of the Oregon vs OSU game. I would include Iowa & Rutgers in this group but, respectfully, Iowa hasn’t shown the desire for innovation to meet changing times, and Rutgers looks like they’re still a few years out yet. Wisconsin is another team that I think has a bright future, but is going to take awhile before Luke Fickles system starts running due to the massive program overhaul in personnel and culture it requires. Salsa Index: Warm (There are several reasons to pick an upset, but the favored team has sizeably better odds to win) Indiana has been the more dominant team, is at home, and has a more diverse toolset to utilize. However, there are reasons to pick Nebraska here, mostly revolving around the Blackshirts' strong efforts and talent. We also cannot forget about Dylan Raiola's ceiling, and how he looks like a great QB at his best, and that paired with good WRs will be enough to score on Indiana. Ultimately, I think that Indiana's offense will slowly wear down Nebraska's defense because of Nebraska's issues running the ball and also the Hoosier's offense is too statistically impressive to be completely fake.
You forgot to mention Indiana Big10 opponents thus far are a combined 1-9. Why are the goalposts moved every week for Neb, needing to keep proving themselves, but Indiana is an amazing team for playing absolutely no one?
As a Nebraska fan, I have to agree with you. Nebraska has lost 25 straight ranked games and Rhule has lost 14 straight ranked games, only 4 of which occurring at Nebraska. Both program and coach have a long track record of not winning these games and I can’t say we will win until proven otherwise.
This game will go down to the wire as always because of Nebraska… honestly it’s a toss up… either nebraska will win by 1 score or lose by 1 score as they always do😂

The scariest part about Nebraska’s secondary is this is the first week Ceyair Wright will start opposite Tommi Hill at corner. Wright was previously his back up and has played lights out after Hill got injured, so with both of them back, it could be the best we’ve seen all season. I do like Indiana in this one though, for the sole reason that they’ve been an efficiency beast and Nebraska has really struggled with consistency. I think the Huskers have a higher ceiling, but they haven’t shown they can go a game without stalling out for huge sections. Can’t do that against Indiana
I only hope they aren't forcing Tommi to play. I don't want him to either reaggravate his injury, or not be playing to the level of his teammates. He could end up being a weakness if that happens. Thankfully Rhule doesn't seem like Frost in trotting out battered players as if he's trying to recreate RG3

Sam, good analysis. I have to respectfully disagree with you about the outcome as I think the Huskers win. Our defense is going to show up and it’ll be similar to Rutgers and we should out muscle them. I think our offense is going to be improved after the bi-week. I am expecting a game similar to the Colorado game where we show up on both sides of the ball and shut them down.
So this game is so unpredictable...Indiana has been more dominant against far less competition but has also matched up well with that competition. Nebraska has definitely faced stronger defenses and offenses and is an overtime loss away from being undefeated but been less dominant in their victories. This could be a close game or even a blow out either way because we have no idea what Indiana is yet. As for nebraskas offense, i think you are being very harsh on it due to rutgers game and overlooking the fact there were gusts up to 50 mph that day in a stadium where the wind swirls hard af. Going to be an eye opening game if Indians offense keeps rolling while a nebraska victory will be chalked up to Indiana being overrated due to their schedule being so weak
We (Husker fans) hope you are wrong with your score prediction. A few things. I think Raiola is going to come out swinging and play less conservative in the pass game. Ceyair Wright and Tommy Hill will both be on the field for the first time as stellar CBs. Mazccua hasn’t been playing for disciplinary reasons but we believe he’ll get back in to help with the run game. I also think the coaches will change their mind about redshirting Van Popel on the D-Line and he’ll come in and put pressure on the QB with Ty Robinson and Nash. He was one of the reasons for the goal line stand this year against Rutgers and last year against Illinois. I think with some mid-season adjustments, and a long-awaited bowl game on the line for the Huskers, AND coming in as underdogs, Nebraska is going to come out with the same energy they had against Colorado.
Nebraska has the worst special teams in the Big 10 and is the 14th ranked rushing team in the Big 10. Hard to win a road game versus a GOOD team on the road being that bad in those areas. I guess we'll see.
I watched like a quarter or 2 of Indiana early in the season. Can't remember who they played but I was shocked at how good their QB and receivers were. No huge throws but very efficient. Still NU 28-24 GBR!
Weird, just before the NU vs IL game Neb was ranked making a top 25 game for tv. Now , on a bye week, Neb somehow gets ranked 25 once more making a top 25 matchup for tv

You guys got to remember Indiana has never been tested yet and Nebraska has been tested a bit. I got Nebraska 24-18 Indiana. I like Indiana at Home. Can the Huskers stop IUs running game?? I dont think so. IU wide receivers will eat up the cornhuskers. Quarterback for IU is really sharp. Nebraska's Quarterback will face a tough Indiana defense. Should be a awesome Matchup.
I'm going to give Nebraska the edge in this one. They're finally going to win a 3 point game, and they're FINALLY going to beat a ranked team for the first time in what will be the 26 attempts. The difference for me is this. When pressured, Rourke's completion % drops to the low 50s I believe I read. He's currently only being pressured 20% of the time BUT they've played NOBODY!!!! Maryland and NW I believe are 15 and 17 in the conference in pass defense. I believe Nebraska defense will pressure him at a high rate and create problems. Offensively, I think Nebraska will have success because Dylan Raiola has a 44.2 passer rating against man and he's at 90.2 rating against zone and Indiana is in zone more than almost anybody in the country. I think Indiana has only been in man coverage for 26 plays this season. Big game coming for Raiola and the blackshirts. 27-24 GBR!!!
There’s absolutely no way Nebraska has a weaker strength of schedule! Nebraska has played Colorado who has looked legit the last couple weeks, Rutgers who was undefeated when playing Nebraska, and Illinois who regardless of the Purdue shitshow still doesn’t look terrible. Who tf has Indiana played? Northwestern and Maryland who are bottom feeders in the big ten this year? Maybe I’m stupid but the strength of schedule doesn’t make any sense at all…
@@blabberer8950tbf, we should look at his last season at Baylor, because that’s when he had his team in. he beat Texas at Baylor 24-10, Texas wasn’t ranked at the time but finished top 25, then lost twice to 7th ranked Oklahoma, one by 3, then by 7 in OT. Then lost to 4th ranked Georgia by 12. He takes over trash programs that hardly competed in their conference, and turned them into being able to compete with top 10 teams, I think he’ll be fine with more resources.

TBF, they aren't beating any good teams if their special teams don't get markedly better, and not just FG kicking, but long snapping, punt coverage, kick coverage, returns, etc. Easy to blame Foley, but it is the head coach who chooses his staff. 31 points on Nebraska’s defense would be VERY impressive given that the only team that has done that to White’s unit at Nebraska in regulation was 2023 Michigan. The Hoosiers haven’t faced a defense in the same conceptual universe as this one. IU has a really good offense, but I’m thinking inside the 20s is more realistic, which could still be good enough to win the game

I like IUs offense more than CUs offense by a decent margin because of the superior o-line play, but Rutgers has superior O-line/RB play to Indiana and they dominated them on the lines of scrimmage. I’m not disrespecting Indiana; They’re the most complete team we’ve faced, they will score points, and I’d even give them a 60% chance of winning because of Nebraska’s consistency issues, but their toughest opponent this season has been Northwestern.

Nebraska's defense has looked good against middling offenses. The last time they faced a balanced attack, against Illinois, they lost in Lincoln. Colorado might have a better NFL prospect at QB but Kurtis Rourke leads the nation in QBR, Indiana has a better performing QB and WR corps. Trying to compare an offense outside the top 60 to Indiana's offense is like trying to compare Northwestern's defense to Nebraska's defense, maybe that will help you understand how far off you are
Indiana runs zone > man defense almost 10 to 1. Dylan excels against zone defense. Indianas stats are padded asf from playing 6 very bad teams. Indiana hasnt seen a defense anywhere near ours. Our wrs and TEs are taller than all but one of their d backs. Dylan is gonna go off. The running game while i dont trust it for the huskers is going to have the opportunity to really get going.
Indiana is about to expose Nebraska for being overhyped. I’m not saying Nebraska isn’t good, I think they are a decent Big Ten team, but I feel they have been given too much credit. For example, compare them to Wisconsin: Nebraska won at Purdue 28-10 and beat Rutgers 14-7 in Lincoln Wisconsin beat Purdue 52-6 in Madison and won at Rutgers 42-7 (both the week after they faced Nebraska). Nebraska got a comfortable win over Purdue and managed to scrape away a win against Rutgers while Wisconsin absolutely demolished both of those teams. Now how much of this is Wisconsin having an epic turnaround and/or Nebraska being overhyped is debatable, but I think it is a lot of the first and some of the second. I don’t think this will be a blowout, but I think Indiana will win in a similar fashion to how Illinois beat Nebraska in a one or two score game.
To be fair to Nebraska, they aren't really trying to be a high octane, score 50 points a game style team. Don't let the final scores fool you, Nebraska has controlled every game this season with the exception of the Illinois game and the 1st half of the Purdue game. Aside from those instances, their opponents had virtually no shot at taking over/winning the game. Even the Rutgers game as well, despite only winning by 1 TD. Rutgers blocked a punt and recovered it at the 2, had 6 chances to score, and came up EMPTY. Wisconsin on the other hand is trying to transition into a more balanced, high octane team under Fickell, and it seems like they have been clicking lately. Not saying that Nebraska is going to win this week, but I wouldn't be surprised if they push Indiana for the first time this season. If that does happen, it will be interesting to see how they handle it.
Wisconsins wins were at least half flukes. You don't lose the turnover battle and win with an average point differential of 45. Nebraska dominated the turnover battle and won by 12 points on average. How often does a team put up 400 yards on offense, commit zero turnovers, and only possess the ball for an extra 36 seconds? It doesn't, at least not when a certain 3rd entity isn't making themselves the center of attention. And against Rutgers, Raiola simply had the worst game of his career so far. Do I think Nebraska will win this game? No, and no one should, given their inconsistencies. Do I think that is some grand revelation? No. Indiana is playing a freshman quarterback who has shown his growing pains. A young RB room. And admittedly, an OC who has a history of being underwhelming, and in this season, seems to play hyper conservatively all the time. As for Wisconsin, either they have turned around from 15 point wins over FCS teams, or they were the benefactors of two fluke games, where they turned the ball over more than the teams they dominated. Either way, I don't really care. They will get tested against Penn State, Iowa, and Oregon. And the Iowa game should be telling of if they're really any good.
Alternative thought: perhaps maybe, just maybe, Wisconsin benefited from playing both Purdue and Rutgers the week after playing Nebraska 🤔 Being a 49ers fan I know all too well the toll playing a physical team can have on the following weeks performance as this has been a common theme over the previous couple seasons after playing the 49ers. A win is a win and Nebraska was firmly in control of both those games throughout regardless the final scores.
Sam, 12 starters for IU were playing FCS football last year. Nebraska historically underperforms in these type of games, but if they just lean into physicality they could really dominate in the trenches. Big Red 28-17

Biggest thing for Nebraska: Indiana is allowing 1.8x as many ppg, despite facing offenses that score .92x as many points. That is a huge swing. For Indiana?: Nebraska is horribly inconsistent on offense. If Nebraskas offense plays to **potential** it isn't close, but they continue to falter late in games or commit penalties, or like last game, just not show up. I think Indiana is super overrated, i think their schedule has been historically easy. But, Nebraska hasn't faced many truly good teams, and hasn't capitalized or separated themselves. Indiana gets behind by 2 scores, Nebraska stagnates in the 2nd half, 24-21 Indiana.

Ceyair Wright and Tommy Hill will both be on the field for the first time as stellar CBs. Mazccua hasn’t been playing for disciplinary reasons but we believe he’ll get back in to help with the run game. I also think the coaches will change their mind about redshirting Van Popel on the D-Line and he’ll come in and put pressure on the QB with Ty Robinson and Nash. He was one of the reasons for the goal line stand this year against Rutgers and last year against Illinois. I think with some mid-season adjustments, and a long-awaited bowl game on the line for the Huskers, AND coming in as underdogs, Nebraska is going to come out with the same energy they had against Colorado.

Nebraska has the worst special teams in the Big 10 and is the 14th ranked rushing team in the Big 10. Hard to win a road game versus a GOOD team on the road being that bad in those areas. I guess we'll see.

I watched like a quarter or 2 of Indiana early in the season. Can't remember who they played but I was shocked at how good their QB and receivers were. No huge throws but very efficient. Still NU 28-24 GBR!

I'm going to give Nebraska the edge in this one. They're finally going to win a 3 point game, and they're FINALLY going to beat a ranked team for the first time in what will be the 26 attempts. The difference for me is this. When pressured, Rourke's completion % drops to the low 50s I believe I read. He's currently only being pressured 20% of the time BUT they've played NOBODY!!!! Maryland and NW I believe are 15 and 17 in the conference in pass defense. I believe Nebraska defense will pressure him at a high rate and create problems. Offensively, I think Nebraska will have success because Dylan Raiola has a 44.2 passer rating against man and he's at 90.2 rating against zone and Indiana is in zone more than almost anybody in the country. I think Indiana has only been in man coverage for 26 plays this season. Big game coming for Raiola and the blackshirts. 27-24 GBR!!!
There’s absolutely no way Nebraska has a weaker strength of schedule! Nebraska has played Colorado who has looked legit the last couple weeks, Rutgers who was undefeated when playing Nebraska, and Illinois who regardless of the Purdue shitshow still doesn’t look terrible. @@blabberer8950tbf, we should look at his last season at Baylor, because that’s when he had his team in. he beat Texas at Baylor 24-10, Texas wasn’t ranked at the time but finished top 25, then lost twice to 7th ranked Oklahoma, one by 3, then by 7 in OT. Then lost to 4th ranked Georgia by 12. He takes over trash programs that hardly competed in their conference, and turned them into being able to compete with top 10 teams, I think he’ll be fine with more resources.

31 points on Nebraska’s defense would be VERY impressive given that the only team that has done that to White’s unit at Nebraska in regulation was 2023 Michigan. The Hoosiers haven’t faced a defense in the same conceptual universe as this one. IU has a really good offense, but I’m thinking inside the 20s is more realistic, which could still be good enough to win the game

I like IUs offense more than CUs offense by a decent margin because of the superior o-line play, but Rutgers has superior O-line/RB play to Indiana and they dominated them on the lines of scrimmage. I’m not disrespecting Indiana; They’re the most complete team we’ve faced, they will score points, and I’d even give them a 60% chance of winning because of Nebraska’s consistency issues, but their toughest opponent this season has been Northwestern.

Nebraska's defense has looked good against middling offenses. The last time they faced a balanced attack, against Illinois, they lost in Lincoln. Colorado might have a better NFL prospect at QB but Kurtis Rourke leads the nation in QBR, Indiana has a better performing QB and WR corps. Trying to compare an offense outside the top 60 to Indiana's offense is like trying to compare Northwestern's defense to Nebraska's defense, maybe that will help you understand how far off you are

Indiana runs zone > man defense almost 10 to 1. Dylan excels against zone defense. Indianas stats are padded asf from playing 6 very bad teams. Indiana hasnt seen a defense anywhere near ours. Our wrs and TEs are taller than all but one of their d backs. Dylan is gonna go off. The running game while i dont trust it for the huskers is going to have the opportunity to really get going.
Indiana is about to expose Nebraska for being overhyped. I’m not saying Nebraska isn’t good, I think they are a decent Big Ten team, but I feel they have been given too much credit. For example, compare them to Wisconsin:
Nebraska won at Purdue 28-10 and beat Rutgers 14-7 in Lincoln
Wisconsin beat Purdue 52-6 in Madison and won at Rutgers 42-7 (both the week after they faced Nebraska).
Nebraska got a comfortable win over Purdue and managed to scrape away a win against Rutgers while Wisconsin absolutely demolished both of those teams. Now how much of this is Wisconsin having an epic turnaround and/or Nebraska being overhyped is debatable, but I think it is a lot of the first and some of the second.
I don’t think this will be a blowout, but I think Indiana will win in a similar fashion to how Illinois beat Nebraska in a one or two score game.
To be fair to Nebraska, they aren't really trying to be a high octane, score 50 points a game style team. Don't let the final scores fool you, Nebraska has controlled every game this season with the exception of the Illinois game and the 1st half of the Purdue game. Aside from those instances, their opponents had virtually no shot at taking over/winning the game. Even the Rutgers game as well, despite only winning by 1 TD. Rutgers blocked a punt and recovered it at the 2, had 6 chances to score, and came up EMPTY. Wisconsin on the other hand is trying to transition into a more balanced, high octane team under Fickell, and it seems like they have been clicking lately. Not saying that Nebraska is going to win this week, but I wouldn't be surprised if they push Indiana for the first time this season. If that does happen, it will be interesting to see how they handle it.
Wisconsins wins were at least half flukes. You don't lose the turnover battle and win with an average point differential of 45. Nebraska dominated the turnover battle and won by 12 points on average. How often does a team put up 400 yards on offense, commit zero turnovers, and only possess the ball for an extra 36 seconds? It doesn't, at least not when a certain 3rd entity isn't making themselves the center of attention. And against Rutgers, Raiola simply had the worst game of his career so far. Do I think Nebraska will win this game? No, and no one should, given their inconsistencies. Do I think that is some grand revelation? No. Indiana is playing a freshman quarterback who has shown his growing pains. A young RB room. And admittedly, an OC who has a history of being underwhelming, and in this season, seems to play hyper conservatively all the time.
As for Wisconsin, either they have turned around from 15 point wins over FCS teams, or they were the benefactors of two fluke games, where they turned the ball over more than the teams they dominated. Either way, I don't really care. They will get tested against Penn State, Iowa, and Oregon. And the Iowa game should be telling of if they're really any good.

Alternative thought: perhaps maybe, just maybe, Wisconsin benefited from playing both Purdue and Rutgers the week after playing Nebraska 🤔 Being a 49ers fan I know all too well the toll playing a physical team can have on the following weeks performance as this has been a common theme over the previous couple seasons after playing the 49ers. A win is a win and Nebraska was firmly in control of both those games throughout regardless the final scores.

Biggest thing for Nebraska: Indiana is allowing 1.8x as many ppg, despite facing offenses that score .92x as many points. That is a huge swing.
For Indiana?: Nebraska is horribly inconsistent on offense. If Nebraskas offense plays to **potential** it isn't close, but they continue to falter late in games or commit penalties, or like last game, just not show up.
I think Indiana is super overrated, i think their schedule has been historically easy. But, Nebraska hasn't faced many truly good teams, and hasn't capitalized or separated themselves.
