The perfect 240. Quiet enough to be convincing, practically indestinguishable visually from stock, and yet many times the original horsepower. I love it.
That has to be the best looking 262C out there! Perfect and reliable power from the new LT1 and nice that everything has been kept stock and those wheels are phenomenal!
Oh Man your breaking my heart ❤ I bought one just like yours in 1988 its 6 cylinder had been replaced with a 4 cylinder but I didn't care I am the Bertones biggest fan, that car was totaled then a couple of years later I bought the all black metal Bertone .I used to get stopped everywhere I went by admirers, if I had one wish I would love to have the one you have! You are a very lucky man ✌💪
One word, Sir. Perfection! My Aunt Abbey, Uncle Jergen & cousins John & Astri are all from Oslo... well, Aunt is originally from Rattray in North East Scotland & John was born in Stornoway when Jergen had his first doctors practice! Cheers. Leigh.
@@SilentDMotorShow great car mate, really love it. This is what I got on the Bertone design ... Volvo arranged with Bertone to build the coupe. Bertone building the roof pillars, roof pan, windshield surround, cowl, and the upper parts of the doors. So the upper part was Bertone built. That's the uniqueness of the 262C.
Well thought out build, the wheels and quiet exhaust, absence of kiddie flares scoops and cheap mufflers make this car awesome! Dont understand the hateful comments....must be miserable to be them! This is a proper LT swap...not cheap done right but will hold up over time
I own one like this, 79 model year, euro specs, silver with vinyl roof. What an amazing car, everything original and stock. handles terribly and is seriously underpowered, but the looks of it are so unique. I agree with everything you said, the procedure you have applied to yours is top notch, when time, money and wifey agree some time this is the way to go 👍
I'm a swede from Gothenburg the home town of Volvo. When I was 15 year old, around year 1977, this was the car to have! Very nice to see you have done to this car! I get warm in my heart :)
@@SilentDMotorShow Oh I'm not swapping the black one, we also have a grey '78 with the vinyl roof and all. Already has had a redblock swap so it's perfect for a swap. I'm keeping my black '81 fully original, even if it's a bit slow
Yes, that was East Bay Muscle Cars idea. I wanted simple larger size steel wheels from Detroit Steel, but so glad Steve Keefer of EBMC talked me into getting the custom EVOD Industries Bertone replicas!! Really makes the car. Thanks for watching, thanks for commenting.
Hi silent D, love the car and its upgrades while keeping the retro look.🫶🏼 My mom used the have one with the eu headlights. Nowadays Bertone is only known for its spaghetti sauce. Oh no, thats Bertolli🤣 Thanks for sharing.🤟🏼
I need a set of those rear mud flaps. I deleted the butt cheeks on my 242 which removes the standard 240 mounting point. 242 GTs and Bertones had the correct mud flaps
That’s quite a complement! Thank you! But not quite tho, as we didn’t do any upgrades to interior and exterior (only wheels). Just drive train and suspension.
Slow was only the beginning of the bad news with the original 262 engine. Mine had less than 100k miles and ticked like a beater Subaru. If I remember correctly, the pushrods clogged too easily and deprived the heads of oil, so the top end needed rebuilding every 30k miles.
I drove mine for 13 years, traded it in when it had 205K miles on it, and it never '"ticked like a beater Subaru". Of course I changed the oil and filter every 3,000 miles - or less - and always used top quality oil and Volvo filters. On the other side of the coin, there was a fellow in my town who owned a '76 265GL who never changed his oil and was replacing his cams very 30K miles. Go figure!
Superb car, perfect except for the illegal Numberplates , be careful of the Police and hopefully you’ll not have any traffic incidents as the insurance won’t pay out either 🚗😱 #StaySafe 🦠😷
The Volvo 262 Bertone was a total miscarriage, in style and in mechanics. Bertone should be ashamed for such a bad styling (for ex. a far to low roof) and clumsy features. Maybe the worst issue of his brillant career. As for mechanics, you says it all: also a failure for having cut down two cylinders (!) The result: a too loud engine with no overdrive, nor enough power but also dursty; a very uncomfortable car to drive above 100km/h! I had one for about two years but was even happy to sell him out for a few money: no one was interested, above all here in Switzerland. Too heavy and totally unfit for our snowy mountains. In Europe this sort of Volvo was a total failure, however some Americans love it because remembering a little (but ugly) Rolls for boasters.

Just a small correction - it was designed in-house, not by Bertone. Bertone was only involved in final assembly.
Oh really. I had no idea. Thanks for clarifying

Highly underrated in the cool stakes !
This is wonderful!

Love the old Volvos. Always has, always will!
This has got to be the coolest car I have ever seen. I need it. Great review too.
wonderful video, the 262C is underappreciated, it is an Americanized Volvo if you will, there are fans out there that love it as much as I do

Tack så mycket!!
Totally agree with your interpretation of the 262C. I would love one someday! Regards
Will probably be doing the same thing with one of our two Bertones!
Yeah man, you won't regret it. Black 262C is super dope!

I had one for a while. It was the most comfortable seat I have ever owned.
I am jealous you got 2 262c and great swap story . Thankyou silent D
My favourite motor show - The Silent D Motor Show. Great story and great car. Thank you Silent D.
This is the next James Bond car!
Now that‘s something! You are competing with Icon Derelict without problems. Right up there. I love these small tweaks - 6.2 instead of 2.7, nice
That is quite the complement on the build! Thank you. I have always been a big fan of Icon!
Great car you have there! Out of curiosity, how much would a project like that cost?
wow brilliant idea on the larger original style wheels
Yes, that was East Bay Muscle Cars idea. I wanted simple larger size steel wheels from Detroit Steel, but so glad Steve Keefer of EBMC talked me into getting the custom EVOD Industries Bertone replicas!! Really makes the car. Thanks for watching, thanks for commenting.
W👄W.......
Beautiful, understated elegance.
You have a car for life ,
Huge solid Swede + 🇺🇸 Big Block, 👌💯
Brilliant upload..
Very Slick, 😉
Så häftigt bygge! har du flera bygg bilder? Framför allt på bakaxel upphängningen.
Big volvo fan here
Great car you made
Love how you handle the casette tape 😎
Generation gap present I guess
👍
Had a burgundy red Volvo 244DL . Reg VLS 81R 🤔 I wonder if that car is still on the road .
Excellent sleeper concept!
Hi Silent D , am after a 262 , and was wondering if it will be for sale anytime soon ............. Cheers
Great car man
"That's all I ever wanted from a Volvo". 😂
Wow, you really did take the sleeper concept all the way!
Nice to see the mods didn’t just stop at the LT1. It’s fun to make your brick faster, but it’s down right terrifying when you can’t control it.

Love this car, amazing work
LOL The host straight out of central casting!
Svårt cool Volvo. Bra gjort!
Tack så mycket :)
What an awesome car! Love everything you’ve done with it
Did you look into converting this into a manual transmission?
that thumbnail is fucking awesome
Such a talented musician you are. Please inspire me: How do you afford these kind of cars?
Thank you! I been lucky, working in the right industry, the right company, at the right time! Mobile games that was, back when smart phones blew up.
I alway fancied the coupe
How much did all that set you back?
This is my new dream car
not allot i would change on that beauty, but make a manual work with the stock manual shift would be so nice
I need a set of those rear mud flaps. I deleted the butt cheeks on my 242 which removes the standard 240 mounting point. 242 GTs and Bertones had the correct mud flaps
This thing is SO frikin sweeeeeeeeeeet! Dang!
Nice!
May I please have this car when you are done with it? It is marvelous.
You are lucky, you got the resources and the chance of buying one in emaculate condition. I can only drool to see this volvo...
Добрый день. На лобовом стекле ( левый верхний угол ) сохранилась прозрачная этикетка с предупреждением это большая редкость Удачи. Сталинград Михаил.
I remember those Bertone Volvo's, always thought they looked like a gangster car........
Love the 🇬🇧registration plate
man thats cool
Hei, ønsker deg godkjenning av vrangtilsynet og norske skilter.!
Jeg kan nok trenge alle de lykkeønskninger jeg få!!
If it was ugly in 70s, it is beautiful 2020
Looks like new
David Bowie owned one 👍😎
This is sort of a Singer Volvo. Probably best to keep it secret to avoid constant drooling of old farts like me.

Do you sing in all of your videos?
Nah, maybe 1/3 of them
if you ever sell this, let me know!
Awesome, from Ugly Duckling 🐥 to Swan 🦢 👌🏻😎
Bad ass car
I'm pretty sure they could sell those today.
Wouldn’t pass today’s safety standards tho :/
WOW
I’m not envious...................much!
This car could be in a Stephen King movie!
Superb car, perfect except for the illegal Numberplates , be careful of the Police and hopefully you’ll not have any traffic incidents as the insurance won’t pay out either 🚗😱

Didn’t you put the tape in backwards?
That’s the only way it goes actually. Tape recorder still works after 40 years+, and I added bluetooth and upgraded the speakers too
Drool! Drool !
Perfect car. Can I have it please, sir.
Better put a line lock in for those back brakes
Had a 780 bertone turbo it was not slow
It looks a bit light on the back
Blasphemy that I can live with. It grew on me.
Cool car! Don’t quit your day job! Rap less
The 780 looks much better
And a tuned 2,3 liter turbo would be more suitable
What a waste of a good engine in a gray brick.
Nice car...but with this re building engine, a total waste of money.
