Mark! My kids (3 & 4yrs old) and I got into shrimp/fish keeping a month and a half ago and I have to say, your videos have helped me out so much. Thank you sir!!!
So happy to see you and your video! We missed your videos and livestreams so much! This was a great video and we hope to see much, much more 😊❤ Thank you for sharing your story!
I got back from having a great time on the golf course , and when I saw Marks notification i!!! The long break from however many months ( toooooooooo Long ) It's like the feeling of wwaking up on Christmas day 🎅
Yes please, more videos Mark. I have seen exactly the same benefits also. Normally species only for breeding. I have neos, bristlenose and guppies breeding like muthur heffers in same tank. Hardly have to scrape glass too. Bristlenose might eat a dead shrimp but that's a bonus since other shrimp won't. LRB gave you a mention the other week when referring to the original hardcore shrimp crew. I did wonder what you were up too. Cheers 🥂
Thanks so much and great to see the progress on the tank - love to hear your blithering on so please don’t worry about going on long, it’s so great to learn from you.
I am gonna join the choir and singing Thank you Mark for a great video. Always a joy. I hope everything is well at you and your loved ones. Love to see the green tanks and shrimps. And to hear what has been done to them. 😊 welcome back Sir.
@Mark it's wonderful to see another video. Part of me seriously just wants to observe and watch you care for the shrimp. I want to see all of the fine details and the little things that go into the steps to problem solve issues. The other side of me watches this video and I just want to see a two part video. On the beginner side of things.... Why does the tank of blues dropping red shrimp? On the more advanced side of things.... How would you fix it and how would you cull the blues in that tank given the amount of shrimp you have to go through?
Glad you are back mark thanks for the video! I have tons of lush green hornwort in my neocaradina tanks snails and bn plecos is what I do too, and my blue dreams I bought 10 from mark Shelly, now I have thousands literally 🙂 stay well mate🙏
Hi Mark, Really enjoy watching the video’s, happy you’ve posted one again. You’ve inspired me to also start keeping shrimp. For the moment I have red and blue neocaridina shrimp and since only yesterday I have crystal reds! Really excited about them and they seem to be doing great! Really hope to see you posting more again :) All the best
This is very informative Mark. Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us. My water out of the tap is 7.8 pH, 150-200 TDS. In my established tanks, the pH is right on 7.0. I mostly do top offs, with occasional water changes. All of my tanks are heavily planted. I've noticed lately, the leaves on my anubias are a bit paler than the older leaves. Based on your experience, I'm going to add some crushed coral to all of my tanks. Good on you for shouting out Mark Shelley. I've bought several lines of shrimp from him. He sells very high quality shrimp. (No affiliation other than being a customer...) Looking forward to your next video.
Thanks for a new video. Its nice to see you and hear your voice! I have watched many different channels, but YOUR is the reason I started my first tank. Your not pushy, full of knowledge and humor, and sharing your love of shrimp. Have you ever tried breeding Amano shrimp? I am looking into it because we have two females that are bursting with eggs, and feel bad about letting them die off in the freshwater. Enjoy your tanks!!
I got a 20 gallon long tank with 8 corydoras, 4 amanos, 2 hillstream loaches, and 1 blue eyed lemon pleco. I plan for the tank to go unheated this winter but the tank gets as low as 60F (15.5C). I think I am pushing the limit and I may need a heater this year. I have an aquaclear 70 and a power head, no detritus forms and the tank remains spotless.
Hope you’re doing well Mark!! Interesting! I have been breeding a pair of bn plecos and nice to hear it’s working well for you in with shrimp! And a bigger tank too. Are you getting good survival rates from the plecos? Do you find any need to reduce snail populations? I worry they compete for food, especially with the baby plecos. Are you selling the baby plecos, and if so, how do you catch them without major disruption to the tank?
Mark I love your UA-cam channel I get so much information from it . I myself have been in the aquarium hobby many years 40 something have breed discus and show guppies and have won in the International guppy Association but the genetics of caridina shrimp is something pretty new to me so I was wondering if you could do allittle more on crosses with Crystal blacks in allittle more detail. Thank You Steven g. Miller
I was hoping on this update to come and I love more of it to come! 😁 I also love your videos of making food out of your garden, so maybe you have a great idea to make food for the plecos as well? I noticed one or two orange schrimps in this tank, is this part of the blue dna, or did they just hitchhiked from another aquarium?
Welcome back Mark - great to see you posting again! Hope all ok in Norway! One question I have - what do you do if you're too successful? I've become inundated with red cherries 🍒🍒🍒🍒
hello fellow shrimp keepers. I have been having a question and cant seem to find a lot of good answers elsewhere so I was hoping someone here might have some experience. I am keeping sulawesi shrimp (cardinals at the moment) and want to expand to the more difficult shrimp that need the 8.5 mineralizers. I have a real problem with the parameters that they suggest for these salts/shrimp. they say the GH/KH is around a ratio of 6/6 in the towuti lake, but they claim the conductance is under 200. I honestly cant figure out how that is physically possible since those levels of GH/KH to me would have to add more conductivity to the water than the recommended one. So i dont know what parameter to aim for, the GH/KH or the conductance. Anyone have any experience with these salts/shrimp? Any insight would be super helpful (especially if my assumptions are just plain wrong 🤣). Love the content mark, I would love to see more of your bee shrimps!
Hi Mark What level do you keep the TDS and nitrates below? My Blue Dream tank hasn't had a population explosion even though I see the occasional young one. My pH is 7.6, GH 8, KH 3, TDS 225, Temp 23.7°c (74.6°f) and Nitrate about 40ppm. Most websites that list parameters for shrimp don't list Nitrates so I figured they were overly important. Thanks
@@naomiwaters thank you. I liked the shapes of the branches. And in the meanwhile since I saw the video, I have been cutten some old branches of my old appletree, so now I know, when Mark use them, it is also safe for me to put in ny thanks. 🙂👍 So thank you very much.
Hi! I'm very new to shrimp keeping (aka I'm still gathering money to start) and I just want to know what substrate to use for the neocaridina shrimpies? I think you did say what you use but English isn't my first language so I didn't really understand 100%. If you could help me, I'd really appreciate it!!✨
Great to see you again. Miss you videoes
Wondeful to see you. We missed the dulcet tones of your relaxing voice.
Thanks for the shout out bud. Tank looks really good man. Love this way of keeping neos with plecos 👍😁👋 Love seeing a video from you 👍

I'm thinking of starting a similar experiment with my hillstream loaches

Glad to see a new Video. One question, with the plecos and added feeding do you find a need to clean the bottom of the tank?
I always thought plecos and shrimp had a symbolic relationship. this kinda proves it
Love your video s
I have just set up a beautiful 10l cylindrical tank for shrimp when it's properly settled in might order some from you 😊

Hello sir a good day to you, can I ask how do you control the snail population on your fish tank? Thank you 😊 and happy shrimp keeping 🦐🦐
Love Bristlenose. Have you thought of trying this with rarer L number Plecos?
We need more vídeos Mark

Could you plz repeat what kind of wood, you have harvest, dryed and put into the tank. 😊
He said it was apple wood

@MarksShrimpTanks okay thank you very much! I'm excited to begin my shrimp journey!
So having a walstad style, no filter, heater or anything tank, probably isn't the best way to keep my first ever shrimp? 😅😵💫
I depends on your goals my friend, if you want to just have a natural looking tank where you dont do so much the walstad method is perfect.
@@MarksShrimpTanks that's what I originally was after but those little shrimps have really got me hooked and I want millions of them now 😂
@@MarksShrimpTanks thank you so much for replying! You have taught me everything I know about shrimp 😊
