I one trick morgana support and as soon as hwei released I knew he would be my new support main, he has so much flexibility and impact in every situation and gives me a feeling of control over the game I dont often have as support
I could never win if I played how you did I mean yeah you played it very well, I’m sure you win a lot. But I get the most toxic unhinged ADC’s who will throw a game if the support gets a kill. Hell I even had an ADC throw a game today because I auto’d minions. Not even last hitting them…just literally because I auto’d minions
I haven been playing league on and off for like 4 years, not felt in the mood. As soon as I saw Hwei's kit i instantly said to myself, this is it. I'm maining him now on mid and although i usually have good scores and decent damage, it's like a 50/50 literally. 50% win/loss on him. I'm slowly learning that i can push lanes kinda fast to try and move around my jungler (silver/bronce jg, you can imagine) I was hessitant to try it on support because i usually take a more defensive playstyle cause you can barely trust this kamikazes or turret huggers in this low elo. Thanks a lot for showing this, I see that is viable, I love the champ and I will absolutely try it as soon as I can. Keep up the good work, you got my sub!
what i really like about hwei, it feels like you have a new puzzle every encounter. sure you have your standard spell rotations like root and lightning, but in teamfights he feels so flexible and your spell choice really matter. i like that a lot. and support makes a lot of sense. if i would play normal league thats what i would play as supp
Hwei feels like a combination of mage supports that already exist. His only weakness is he is very very vunerable. But thats basically every carry support champ. I want to try him again with these buffs.
He is very vulernable yet most experienced players say, and I quote, "In most games you will rarely die" showing their op.gg with 1-3 deaths. Playing him, idk how they are surviving with this champ. His ult is an amazing slow and he has the damage but utility is strong in teamfights but not for survival unless you use all your CDs.
When Hwei just arrive on the rift, i already knew it will be a cool champ to play, especially as support. Everything on his kit want me to play as main support instead of mid. So i invest lot of time in it and he became my favorite mage support. Honestly, when you play him a lot, everything become muscle memory and you know he is very stronge. As you said, no matter what you will always be useful compared to a xerath, velkoz, lux. You can speed up a mate, push lane fast, have a small shield but still useful, a fear which can deny a lot of jungler ganking, a root to zone important choke point or objective (and with modification on the map, in the baron pit, it really be deadly), a long distance poke, a really nice ULT which if he's not enough to kill if you are behind, can still slow a target. So yeah, Hwei is really good and fun to play ! He has also a really high skill cap. And now, with the new season you have a lot of possibilities to build him. Horizon is a must have, but you can add Rilay's scepter to add another layer of cc (and durability), Liandry against very tanky team and so on... I still dont understand why is winning rate is so low.
@@ian75333 yeah and maybe this is easier for an "old" player. What i mean by that is, there is plenty of abilities which remind a lot of other champs. - QE, is "similar" to Kog'maw E - QW, like swain "W" - WE, nami "E" - WQ, Qiyana QQ (with Elementa grass") And so on... So when you already play those champs, you already have an idea "visually" of the effect, using the same keyboard shortcut. Making Hwei, easier to play, at least for me. But for my own experience, champion like Aphelios are way more difficult (lot of parameter to handle) or even Qiyana (for perfect combo and quick reflex) to play. The funniest part is, at the end of the day, either people think he's op when played well and bullying the lane non stop, or full trash tier when played poorly.
Yeah, now do that against actual good players. I checked your games, this was an Unranked game against a botlane that doesn't even play ranked. Man really educational.
FINALLY, finally Ioki is giving us a Hewei support video. Just after I took a break from him and went back to being a near unkillable Nami. I would put his low win rate not to people playing him but the mental of people who see others play him. I've had so many adc's who see me pick Hwei and just dont even try because they claim he's not a support champion. Its a sad world when you can play something strong and have your team weaker for it because they don't bother to keep up.
I play Hwei support only with my duo, is is hit or miss because of the inters in our team, but I am having so much fun playing him, I will try this build next time, thank you for this video, i0ki ❤
I'm relatively new to LoL, and this champion is the one I feel most confortable with. He reminds me of Adina, a character from Eternal Return. She's also a mage that can dish out pretty good dmg, stun, shield, give speed buff, but could also act as a support since she can also heal. The word I think describes hwei better, like adina, is "specialist 🙌"
why not run the Azzap runes? (dark harvest, ingenius hunter) specifically since item haste helps out Horizon and Cryptbloom and Seraph's (if you got a tear early)
My opinion is from the perspective of playing him as support. I haven't played him in any other lane yet but I have almost 100 games on Hwei now. I can repect Hwei damage and versitility but they overtuned him too hard. I know he has a regen ability with WE and he starts with one of the top 25% biggest mana pools in all champs but by 18 his manapool tops at 990 which is lower 50% of mana pools. I know by 18 your whole team can have blue buff but if not I run out of mana with manaflow band regen with archangels staff. Also for a mage/support his range is great for his damage abilities but his utility has no range, has barely any duration, has long CDs even in late game with full build. With his QW slow, WQ MS, and EQ fear I still get chased down by ANYONE with a dash since the slow is great but has a long delay, MS is 25% at best and long CD, while fear is good but despite being a skill shot last only 1.25 so a little bit of tenacity is nothing but is also a long CD. I had to use ult a few times since that has the biggest slow in his kit just to survive Diana, Xin, ect. I love everything about his Q even if his QE has a horrible delay it great in teamfights, his W is always a gamble on if you need mana or weak utility (shaco boxes and shroom damage last longer than shield but you can beat ignite with it), E is great setup and area denial but is too easy to outplay your only real safety abilities, R is amazing slow and great for teamfights. I wish applied your passive with every tick of damage since untill it explodes at the end it doesn't seem to do much damage on it's own. The end damage is massive though. In total I think the Q is fine but his scaling is more item reliant since his utility isn't great without ult. I've only played him as support so utility is where I like to see my mages useful. Even with a gold deficite, your utility wins teamfights as a support. His damage is great but if I'm getting scaled or chased down by mobile assassins (normal for mages) I would trade damage for more utility.
You should try him in the support lane with First Strike, Triple Tonic, Biscuits, and Cosmic Insite with Precision as secondary (Presence of Mind and Coupe De Grace). Double AF with health scaling. You can really change a game early to get a big snowball going, and it's fun just slowing n QW'ing people lmao
I do the same build but if enemy has 2 scaling tanks like Mundo, I take the one that increases damage against enemies who have more HP than you. 15% damage boost is no joke.
@@kradwolf5719 Never thought to try that.. I would always do Mag into Horizon into Liandry's and that just honestly shreds the tanks if theres more than 1 or high sustained champs. If there's squishy's I would just build another good AP item instead of liandry
i play elise support from the very first time i watched you played her! it' amazing and i love the hwei you are showing here! ty for the content always top quality
I'm sad that you dissed my Zyra. However, must say that hwei puts out the damage. Going to have to try him. He's pretty complicated with all the decisions, like karma - what you going to do, have to decide. :)
I trust in the I0ki that this is a good sup. This wasn't a very good demonstration. That lane was free on any champ. I wasn't watching vex very much but that Jinx was a clown.

easy, you step forward, you die, so they stop stepping forward, hence low deaths.@@kradwolf5719

the lack of pink wards triggers me *edit - control wards
Hwei is a Dope support...most fun ive had since senna, aphelios and rell
revolver into horizon focus with dark harvest is the way i stand by that. lost chapter turns him into a new champ
Yeah, mana cheats on and blast E W everywhere is the most annoying thing in the world, i love it
I think ingenious hunter over the ultimate hunter could be very valuable as well. Either way, both are good
i really hope they dont nerf him support, but i know they likely will
been getting flamed from bronze all the way to plat playing hwei support but im climbing
fizz inting with herald killed me xD
Hwei OP support, what happen in lane was the same to me get poked and die or just not able to play.
Hwei support is definitely cracked

im a zyra main as well like 5 games into hwei and i dont feel like he does as much, then again im not that good at him yet
Love how everyone thinks “I’ll be the one to kill him “
Everytime i0ki says pro team all I hear is protein
I really like the champion and wish I could play him but my brain fries every time I try to execute a combo, I never know which spell is what
I feel like there might be an argument for ingenious hunter. horizon, crypt, and hourglass might find more value maybe?
Clearly with this build you should. It also works with red trinket and zagzag, and yeah hourglass or archangel if you want defensive options
Any chance we might see some Brand from you this season?
No, he wont play brand the entire season

oh you were up against a vex support
im playing him exclusevly over the last 2 weeks and I love him. But sometimes I feel I have zero impact in my games.
zeri ap support pls showcase
This is the hwei!
Hate solo Q ADC's. they rage if you even touch minions.
Wasn't Hwei designed to be a support originally?
it is supposed to be his secondary role
Broken in Utility and if you have a decent team is the wining card.
But these low elo players on Reddit say that hwei is weak, so they must be right
I was about to like the vid, then u said "i play pyke" so this video is meaningless
