My favourite band of all time alongside Pink Floyd! Great list! Finally someone acknowledges the greatness of the first two albums and also the newer ones! You just earned a new subscriber! Great work! #13 - Sorceress #12 - Heritage #11 - Pale Communion #10 - In Cauda Venenum #9 - Damnation #8 - Deliverance #7 - Orchid #6 - Morningrise #5 - My Arms, Your Hearse #4 - Blackwater Park #3 - Watershed #2 - Ghost Reveries #1 - Still Life
Lose the moustache and glasses and you are Gentle Giant...Good ranking, they are all interesting albums. I think Heritage was sort of weak along with Sorceress. It would be great to hear some remixes on some of the earlier albums (Arms/hearse and Blackwater in particular) . I'm excited to hear the new one !!! Loved the "In cauda..album.
I also like the Swedish version of In Cauda Venenum. I really feel that it being in Swedish gives it authenticity, considering it's their native language. It's something that I can't skip.
@RhymeSignatures agreed. I feel that bilinguality is uncommon in music, to my knowledge. Opeth is probably the most mainstream to have done it. I can only think of three other examples. These are: Coppelius - Abwarts Morlas Memoria - Mine of pictures Molllust - In deep waters All of these go between English and German in the tracks.
Sorceress is my favourite Opeth album!! Will o the Wisp is the best song Jethro Tull never recorded, and the title track sits alongside "Square Hammer" as one of the most fun, catchy, heavy, riffy rock runes to be released in the 2010s
@RhymeSignatures no it's top 5 too. But damnation is also near the top! 90s Opeth is too death metal for me. I don't want to call it bad, I know it's great for what it is, but I just pass on the first three albums. Maybe one day I'll come around.
@RhymeSignatures top 5 I think is sorceress, Blackwater, pale communion, damnation, in cauda. But I haven't listened to Ghost reveries or watershed enough.
@@MusicVersa I maintain that Morningrise is worth the effort :) try Black Rose Immortal, the first couple of minutes are the endurance test, it opens up into a whole new world after that initial acerbic hit!
Man, I hated Heritage so much I basically stopped following the band and pretended Watershed was their last album. It took me years to give them another chance, but still - can't say I love their work post 2008.
Opeth are my favorite band, so I’m with you about loving everything that they have done. But for me Orchid is the clear choice for my least favorite. And your top 4 would be the same as mine. I’d probably put Pale Communion at number 5, but by that point we are splitting hairs.
Opeth is my fav prog metal band...get to see them first time in Oct. 1. Ghost Rev. 2. Still Life 3. Blackwater Park 4. Watershed 5. Damnation 6. My Arms.... 7. Morningrise 8. In Cauda... 9. Deliverance 10. Orchid 10. Pale Communion 11. Sorcerer 12. Heritage

What is your opinion on the new song?
I friggin love it!! Sounds like ICV meets Watershed!

Should check out the Abbey Road 2023 remasters of the first three albums!
Also I should do a Gentle Giant ranking... 🤔🤔🤔
I love the end of Deliverance and almost want more of it. Awesome lawn mowing music.
We need a 20 minute long super cut!!
Okay!!!!! Let’s see…
I expect some considerable differences!!
I think you might have to re do this list on October. Funny you should mention Jethro Tull doing metal as Ian Anderson is on the new album.
I'm super SUPER excited for the new album!!
Our top 3 are the same, but I have Ghost Reveries in the #3 spot.
Great ranking!
Clearly we both have amazing taste 🤟😎
Fellow Opeth/metal fanatic from the other side of the pond...great video. Subbed!
Hell yeah 🤟🤟 glad to have you on board!!
Yo i recognise you from reddit
Happy new Opeth album announcement day!
Guess I'll have to do a revised version of this video in a year or so!!
Yes! Happy!
I also like the Swedish version of In Cauda Venenum. I really feel that it being in Swedish gives it authenticity, considering it's their native language. It's something that I can't skip.
Yeah!! Honestly, I'd be happy as anything for another Swedish language album from them :)

the ending of Deliverance is kind of like what Jeff Buckley did with Kanga-Roo. The repetitive ending that keeps going on and on is sort of the point.
1. Ghost Reveries
2. Deliverance
3. Still Life
4. Blckwater Park
5. Watershed
6, Damnation
7. My Arms Your Hearse
8. Morningrise
9. Orchid
10. Heritage
Oh for sure! I do personally love it, just as I love Return of the King, but I can understand why it would grate on some people :p

I must ask then, is Blackwater Park your least favourite?? 🤣🤣

I have a feeling the upcoming record may scratch an itch!

Yeah, when I get to the upper half of the rankings, it's a matter of millimetres between the albums!
Opeth is my fav prog metal band...get to see them first time in Oct.
1. Ghost Rev.

9. Deliverance

11. Sorcerer
12. Heritage
Excellent picks!! Super jealous you get to see them so soon!
lmao bro brought Opeth back
When I challenge Micky Akerstache to bring things back, the call do be answered 😎😎😎
Kind of funny that you made this video the same week that they released a single.
It ended up lining up nicely! The day after I upload this, they announced the new album!
