Thank you. This video helped me replace the cat converter on my 07 cbr600rr with a SS midpipe with O2 sensor (for my bazzaz and zafm autotune. Followed your instructions step for step, except for the welding part. Great video.
@@mando8977 No, I didn't weld. The mid pipe I bought from MJS Performance came with the bung pre-welded at the proper angle. This is what I bought: www.shop.mjsperformance.com/product.sc?productId=214&categoryId=59

Sweet man!! I'm actually a little worried of cutting my pipe too... I think I'm just going to go ahead and do it, so you have clamps on both ends of the pipe? And also didn't make a big difference in sound and or performance?
Yes, I have 2 clamps on. The bottom clamp came with the midpipe on the link I posted. The top one was already there from my Akra slip-on. The sound is more throaty without the cat. As for power gains, I'm not really sure because I autotuned my bazzaz mapping at the same time....which was the main reason I got the midpipe with O2 sensor. Let us know how it turns out.
The only part I would be reluctant to do on my own is the part of the video you edited out. Drilling the hole for the 02 sensor and then welding it closed? I'm not even sure what you did there. Do you have that footage?
What brand exhaust is the one from the thumbnail? I believe it’s what’s on my new to me bike right now and I can’t seem to figure out what the brand is.
I'm curious how much weight was the cat if you had to take a guess? I'm doing this to my bike next week, I already have the parts. Thanks for the video
Scott Elliott One more question sir Did you have tune your bike again after you removed the cat? My bike has already been flashed and tuned my concern is the reduction of air space might disrupt the mapping. What do you think?
I tuned my bike as it's a race bike. I have an engine management system that allows me to tune the AFR's. For a street bike I don't think you'll need to change anything. The existing cat does flow quite well so the eliminator gives a small power gain which you'd possibly not really notice on the road.
khaloudy boss Thanks. I bought some of these for the fog lights on my W204. They look great as they're 6000k temperature. Do a search on eBay for "H11 led cree bulb" and you'll find hundred's. I put a 25 w load resistor across each bulb to get rid of the error message. From experience I can say 6000k cree led bulbs look good as they give a crisp white light.
No real change to the noise Tim. I already had the slip on pipe. I couldn't really notice the difference in noise on the track. It's possibly slightly deeper tone but not louder.

Hello Scott. I hope you are doing well. I wanted to know if removing the CAT makes any difference in terms of sound and performance? i saw a couple of post on CBR600rr forums that removing the CAT make your bike worse if you don't install power commander or dyno tuned your bike to get the max performance. I am from Pakistan and unfortunately there are no Dyno tuners here. i am confused to remove CAT converter from my 2008 Honda CBR600rr. So wanted to know if its worth it or not before proceeding.
Yes I'm doing well ... thanks for asking. Removing the CAT doesn't make much difference in terms of sound ... it's a little bit louder. The fuel map will need to be changed to get it working optimally. If you haven't got a Power Commander or some other means of modifying the fuel map then leave the CAT in place.

I'm not completely familiar with the 2006 model. The process will be similar if not identical. It depends where the O2 sensor is. If it's on the front of the CAT like the 2007 model then you'll have to put a new threaded fitting onto the pipe. These bikes do perform better if you fit a Power Commander or similar to tune them correctly. They come out of the factory too lean at small throttle openings and too rich at high revs and high throttle openings.
oh okay i see what youre saying.. well thank you i will look into it more. one more question for the pipe do i fabricate my own? or do they sell a slip on delete for the cat?
im doing this to my bike but i just notice that mine does not have the O2 sensor... would it work if i install it anyway? and do i have to purchase a O2 sensor eliminator?
Well if you have no 02 sensor you don't need an eliminator. Perhaps the O2 sensor is located more forward on your model. Removing the CAT will still work.

For a street bike I don't think a remap is necessary. They tend to be set up to be quite lean at small throttle openings. Sometimes they can feel a bit fuel starved from a closed throttle after opening up the exhaust. You'll just have to see how it feels.
Because it gives more mid range power. Unless it's a track with very long straights you're better off sacrificing a few horsepower up top to have better mid range drive out of corners.

Hi Scott just wondering if I cut the baffels from my stock exhaust to make sound a bit louder should I get a Dyno remap after ??
For a street bike I don't think a remap is necessary. They tend to be set up to be quite lean at small throttle openings. Sometimes they can feel a bit fuel starved from a closed throttle after opening up the exhaust. You'll just have to see how it feels.
@@ScottElliott152ok thanks
what year model is your cbr600rr ??
+moustyafghan 2008
+Scott Elliott so theres no way it would a fit an 05 ? without any mods to pipe ?
I don't think it will fit straight on. If you do a search on eBay I'm sure i've seen versions for the 05 series.
Is it required to add power commander when you eliminate the cat with the mid pipe?
Usually the motor will require adjustment to he air fuel ratios. So yes a PC or similar system will give you peak performance.
I need cbr 600rr 2008 exhaust
if race bike why even keep the butterfly/servo its just weight you don't need
Because it gives more mid range power. Unless it's a track with very long straights you're better off sacrificing a few horsepower up top to have better mid range drive out of corners.
@@ScottElliott152 hmm ill have to do some dyno searches to see the difference
that mid pipe I see there are some on Ebay is that where you got yours from?
i was wondering which one kept the butterfly or not.
@@seinfeld11123 I bought mine on eBay quite cheaply.
Did it make the bike louder?
Not much ... only a bit.
