Thanks for all of the excellent knowledge that You share with Us. I just finished installing a Koi Toilet bottom drain in My new pond that I'm building at My new old house. I was gonna just fling a submersible pump in the bottom of the pond and call it a day. You gave Me the incentive to put one in, and with Your tips I did a good job too. You mentioned making sure the pump is compatible with Helix skimmer; does this apply to external pumps as well as submersible pumps?
What is the particular silicone that you recommended using on the liner and faceplate/skimmer?

Hi, I just have a question with your explanation of the throat and pull of the skimmer. I acknowledge that you are discussing an active venturi pull into a vortex which greatly benefits the process of the skimmer, but you lost me with regards to your circumference statement of 15 inches as opposed to 6-8 in in the competitor . A 6 in circle is determined by squaring the 6 inch sides ( 36 square) and multiplying by .7854 to get the actual surface area (28.2744) which is understandably less than the square surface area of the other skimmer. If the other skimmer were 8 by 8 inch, it would have a larger 64 in square surface area, again larger than the helix.
I can see that the Helix has a larger throat opening to allow larger debris in( which looks like 12 in across by possibly 6 in high which is a huge benefit ), as well as not having all of the other encumbrances of the cage and baskets on the other skimmer but I think your strength lies in the centrifugal vortex created by the design.
I appreciate all your work and love your videos but in my humble opinion I think your comparison seems to be a mix of apples and oranges. Respectfully, Anthony

Well Eric...I just talked to your lovely wife and ordered my Helix with 1/2" auto fill and other stuff. Lol. $700 later. 😆👍🏼 Man I can't WAIT to get it installed. I also ordered a stainless 2" in 2" out 75watt UV light. That should keep my 2,200 gallon pond looking good. I also ordered a 20' x 24' Sail shade to put over my pond for shade. 👍🏼
hard to beat aquascapes moveable faceplate to reset water level
I know this comment is 2 years old but the aquascape skimmer sucks.... I had one for 2 years and the plastic already started to cave in.
