Pete--I'm about halfway through LBS project thanks to your encouragement and detailed explanations. You are wonderful teacher and mentor and thanks to the Internet many of us around the world can benefit from your knowledge and experience.
I'm retired and in my 70s, a non-engineer and non electronics whiz. You and Bill have helped re-ignite in many of us the thrill we once felt when we first discovered ham radio. The LBS will be my third project in the last two years. I'll send you a report when I get it up and running.
I could have inserted this comment anywhere but have chosen the DBM video because I found it especially useful.
    Again, many thanks.

One of the viewers commented the audio level may not be correct. Thank you for the feedback. I am using a Hero Go Pro 3 for this video and must confess I know more about radios than cameras -- So I will look into the sound level settings.

Pete, Great Video and explanation of the DBM used in homebrew. I've just begun listening to Bill and You on soldersmoke and have reached the past episodes of when your "Let's Build Something" was being published. You'd mentioned in the podcast that your bench was in your (uninsulated) garage for some reason I had imagined a partition, stall or cubicle separating the bench area. I can see in this video that you're right next to your vehicle. My folding table in the spare bedroom seems like a luxury now!

Hi Ralph, Thanks for your post and comments. Yes --you freeze in winter and roast in summer but that is all part of being a ham. If you send me an email to n6qwham@gmail.com I can send you the two part article on the Let's Build Something project. Many of the circuits used on that project are now in use on other current projects. Thank you for being a podcast listener. 73's Pete N6QW

Follow up to the comment that the audio was a bit quiet. I checked the Hero Go Pro 3 manual and there are many settings where one can adjust the video features. However I only saw a small amount of info about audio settings. It appears there are only three: 100% (default), 70% or OFF. My camera was set for 100%. I listened again to the video and the audio level sounded similar to then other videos made with the Go Pro. I believe the individual who made the comment may be a professional videographer and thus would know the difference from normal to "a bit quiet". The next time I will place the camera closer to me and hopefully achieve "full quieting."

Hi Pete. I am no videographer and find your audio level way too low as well. I notice the same issue in some of your other videos too. Thanks for Sharing your knowledge!

Dean Murray Thanks for your comment and input on the audio level. I will once again check the Go Pro audio settings but as I indicated previously I only found a minimal reference to audio level settings. I do not have a quiet voice and so that is not the problem. I am not sure how to address your comment as well as the previous one if I once again determine that the audio settings are at 100 %. There possibly is something that can be done to boost the audio in the editing process with MS Movie Maker. I must add that I have only received two comments about audio level. So perhaps others are experiencing the same situation and would hope as you, they would provide me that feedback. The Hero Go Pro 3 is especially noted for it superb audio capture. Perhaps thee is something wrong with my camera. Always a possibility.

You might want to look at this one.www.onsemi.com/pub/Collateral/EN3240-D.PDFI would suggest doing a search of Mouser and Digi-Key and look at the available products. I am done building homebrew Double Balanced Mixers --you will find it is very difficult to achieve the performance of the commercial units. In practice my homebrew units had losses greater than 5-6 dB and required greater LO power --like 10 dBm --2 Volts Peak to Peak.Save yourself some grief and just buy the units. Thanks for your post.73'sPete N6QW
