Just finished Assassin's Apprentice today. Loved it! So six months behind the live chats. Idk if I'll ever be caught up enough to watch these live, but thanks for doing this series!
I read Assassin's Apprentice and loved it, but never got to the next book. Watching this has reminded me of how much I enjoyed Fitz's story and now I'm off to dig through my bookshelf to find book two. Thanks for this read along, I'm so excited to participate. I don't have many fellow readers in my life and it's so much fun to hear what other people think.
Thank you so much for this Lianne. I have participated in many UA-cam book club live shows but yours felt the most like a real, in-person book club meeting with fun and intelligent conversation. Loved it ❤
I just finished assassins apprentice and I’m obsessed! It’s my first experience with Robin hobb and I’m so excited to read the next book and join the next live 💕 I only have had the first book since Christmas ‘23 but I’ve already purchased the next two!
I actually failed to finish the book because I got frustrated with how slow I found it, but watching this has made me want to go back and give it another go. I’ve just downloaded the audiobook!
I did not get to watch this live but I just wanted to say this is my first time with Robin Hobb. I have had this trilogy for a couple years and did not plan of picking up the series this year but I could not say no when you announced this read along 🥰
I’ve read the first trilogy but haven’t continued on with the series. But it’s fun to watch experience the books for the first time. It’s a bit difficult to remember individual events because I’ve got the overall story of the trilogy in my head. I really hope I’ll manage to follow along for the rest of the Fitzalong, it might help me keep motivated. These books require a lot of emotional strength and “space” and I don’t always have the emotional capacity to handle them so I read them very slowly and when I’m not too overwhelmed in my personal life (because let’s be honest, these books are heartbreaks after heartbreaks after heartbreaks and I don’t want to be sad all the time). Plus, I’m not gonna lie, after I finished Assasson’s Quest, Burrich + the end of the book, I was like: “ahahah, no.” Favourite character? Verity. My love for that man is stratospheric, borderline ridiculous 😅. I personally did not mind the slow start. I really liked it, actually; because by the time the action starts, you’re fully invested in this world and these characters. Which is why everything hurt so much 😢 Also, I understood from the beginning that Fitz was recounting his younger years so that did not really bother me and it kind of comforted me to know he would survive. I want to bubble-wrap Fitz and never let him be hurt ever again (it’s also part of the reason why I’m so reluctant to read the other books, I’m so not prepared to see him suffer again). Never been spoilt either. I hope it stays that way 😂 Keeping away from the fanart, gotcha 😉
To answer some of the questions because I'm getting FOMO lol! My favorite character is Burrich and I totally think he is in love with Chivalry, but searching for fanfic about them (teehee) I did get spoiled :/ Love Chivalry too and Nosy.
I think I hate Galen more just because he is such a weak person too! Like not only an awful human being, but abusing children and ignoring he SPOILER SPOILER himself is a bastard. Weak man!

Watching the playback as I just finished the book yesterday. First time reader here!! I gave the 1st book a 3.75/4.

I've just read my first Robin Hobb, and I'm determined to catch up in time for your 3rd Fitzalong live :)
