Thanks for the great review. thumbs up . Reading / watching lots of great reviews on the bike. Glad to here about the good rolling resistance. I been looking at lots of bikes around $1k , and about the buy this one . Was planning to sell a few of my older bikes first, that just going to have to wait.
If this helps others concerned about size. I'm 6' 3" with a 32.5" inseam and 36" arm length. I went with the Large. For fit, I use Lake cycling shoes and Shimano pedals. I swapped the stem and seatpost for a Race Face 6 Degree 100mm and Thudbuster LT. My average ride is 50+ miles on gravel, dirt and snow. As the weather turns I'm finding myself maintaining the same distances as I do during warmer months. I bought this bike mainly to keep riding through the winter. For spring and summer I use a standard gravel with 700 X 35mm tires.
Thanks for the feedback. I'm about 6'2.5" and 32" bike inseam. Wow that is great you are riding that long and enjoying the bike and fit. I'm leaning more getting the large over the XL. I'm kind of in between sizes. The sizes are so close in so many stats. I think if the stack was a lot more higher over the large and the ST not so long ( I prefer a slopping TT and shorter ST for my kind of short legs. And I'm not really worried about the Toe Overlap .
That's interesting. I wondered where they got that routing design from. But I actually messaged them about availability and they said they will have a small amount restocked next week. Thanks for watching
I know you spent a lot of time on the mongoose Elroy and just a question do you think it was worth the 500 dollars and do you still ride it over other bikes
Yea the Elroy is actually the bike I ride the most. My schedule is pretty rough lately and it's the easiest and best bike for me to get out on for a quick ride. Some of it may be the pride factor of building it also.
Oh dang, waterford! Live in Madison and my grandparents used to live in waterford. I know you mentioned reach being an issue in the other video - Does this just make the bike feel more upright?
Madison is definitely better for riding bicycles! Some of my favorite spots in the state are out there. But yes the short reach does sort of make it feel more upright but the bigger issue is how close the bars can feel when your pedalling as well as the front wheel. I think sizing up is the route to go. It's such a good bike for the price. My only complaint was that reach
I always dream of hydraulic brakes, however these tektro brakes are an exact replica of the higher end trp spyre brake which is by far the best mechanical. It's what I run on my gravel bike and it definitely works really well
That's actually something I was going to discuss in the next video. I found the sizing to be weird on the website too. I'm 5'9". So I was riding a medium and maybe it's because I'm more of a mountain bikers but I did feel a little bit cramped. Part of me thinks it may be best to size up and then throw a shorter stem on it. Hope that helps. Thanks for watching
@@acebikemedia thanks for the response. I’m a mountain bike rider as well. I have been trying to put the geometry of the redwood up against one of my mountain bikes. I’m 5,9 as well, so good to know. Great review by the way. I see they are getting more in stock this week. I’m going to be ready to press buy as soon as it pops up! Haha
Yea it's interesting because alot of my mountain bike parts can fit right on the poseidon. So weird to be pedalling a bike with drop bars and tires as wide as my full suspension too
Lol I see what you did. It's actually not a kickstand. I can't even tell what I used in this video but I usually just prop my bikes up with what ever I have laying around. Sorry I'm no help there 😂
I calculated the speed when I was building the bike at it came out to 28mph, and that's about what I experienced on the road. I also bought a 44t that I swapped out for road/trainer specific riding but the 38 seems to be the best for gravel/adventure type rides.
@@acebikemedia 28mph is fast for a 38t! does this mean the redwood can be used as a primarily road based gravel bike over the poseidon X? its hard to choose one over the other!
Ahmad Zuhairi I should have actually mentioned, I bought the 44t for my mongoose Elroy build project that I did a video on. I also run a 38t on that. As for the redwood, if I was going to do more road than gravel I would choose the poseidon X. I've never ridden one but I think that would be suited alittle bit better. The redwood is an off-road beast in stock form. It's happies on gravel and dirt
Picked up last years model on closeout for $499 delivered, i cant express what an epic deal that truly is. Love it.
Just bought the Redwood....can't wait to ride again. Good review, my man!
Thanks. Appreciate it. Congrats on the new bike. Enjoy it!
Beautiful ride, thanks for sharing!
Thanks for watching!

What length is the original stem? Im 6'3" but have longer legs than you, so I am guessing XL is in order.
@@juanposada9319 You'll want an XL Stock stem is 70mm +6 Degrees.

My Specialized Rockhopper has the same internal cable exit. This bike is quite interesting. hopefully, they will be in stock at some point!

What’s the resistance trainer you have it on in the opening shot?
Just some really cheap no name trainer off ebay.
Good overview. I've been looking for a gravel setup and I've never heard of this bike. Will definitely check it out. 👍
Thanks man. Appreciate it. The gravel bikes are alot more enjoyable than I ever expected.
@@acebikemedia Definitely a different experience. Much more enjoyable than road biking.
Lol no disagreement there! Not a huge fan of playing in traffic.
Nice review. Do you find the mechanical brakes adequate or wishing you had hydraulic?
I always dream of hydraulic brakes, however these tektro brakes are an exact replica of the higher end trp spyre brake which is by far the best mechanical. It's what I run on my gravel bike and it definitely works really well

btw, may i know what kickstand you are using? is that a removable kickstand at 1:16? What is it?

how much speed do you reckon the 38t crank can achieve on flat roads?
