DELAIN was founded by Martijn Westerholt, the ex-keyboardist and brother of one the founders of Within Temptation, Robert Westerholt. For their first album Lucidity they invited several well known musicians from symphonic metal-bands. Liv Kristine (Leaves' Eyes), Sharon den Adel (Within Temptation), Marco Hietala (Nightwish) and Ad Sluijter (Epica) were some of these.
The band consists of Martijn Westerholt (keyboard) and Charlotte Wessels (vocals). Furthermore, the live band consists of Ronald Landa (growling and guitar), Rob van der Loo (bass), and Sander Zoer (drums).
Their second album, "April Rain", will be released March, 30, 2009. So go and buy it as soon as possible, fellow metalheads!

I like how keyboard driven this is without being pompous. I also like how Charlotte sings casual and not opera like.

Hey now. That pompous keyboard and also opera style can be (and for me is) deeply moving. It's not just for showing off. :P
Theres a thing called operetta it's lite opera Vocals she is operetta nothing wrong with that though when it's all opera Vocals it can get old you need some verity it can't all be super operetic
Damn, Marco's first band is Tarot, he has been a part of it since the 80's.
Then he played in Sinergy, but now he's not a part of it anymore. In 2002 he joined Nightwish and recently he became the singer of Sapattivuosi, a Finnish cover band of Black Sabbath and sings in the band Nothern Kings.
He also took part in other projects such as Aina and then he worked with Delain.
This is easily my most favourite song of all time, and Charlotte Wessels is an amazing singer

being of an older generation, I'm just enjoying the music, couldn't give a rats if they are or aren't this or that genre. Great song by the way and a good looking sort to boot.
oooh i love tht song with Marco Hietala(from nightwish) . tht guy got some powerfull vocals. but i have to admit their 2nd album is great...didnt think it would be... i need to stop underestimatin rising bands...

Used to listen to Lucidity quite extensively over two years ago. Always knew Delain would come back and blow me away. Didn't see this album coming, but I must say... Delain is even more fantastic! Extremely catchy song.

ive nvr heard of this band before and found them by looking up another but she has a really pretty voice and i love the sound :)

American people who listens to classic rock, metal and hard rock. Or people who listen to something that's not mainstream have good tastes. Like those that listen to classical epic music, jazz, blues, and old rock and roll. I'm american and I listen to delain so I have good tastes.

It was released in the Benlux on 20 March 2009 and released on 30 March 2009 by Roadrunner Records. “April Rain” is the leading track on the album of the same name. I love dutch symphonic, this is great.
I've been listening to this song constantly since it was on their website. God, I love it. I wish I could find a place to pre-order their album in the US that's less that $35 (what's on amazon which is just ridiculous...)
I like that this album seems to be a cheerful, or route-to-cheer symphonic metal album. It is a nice change from the doom songs. Not all are like that, but many have that theme. This one is uplifting.

@Visse90 I agree about Lacuna Coil, i'd say they have more of a prog sound. Symphonic metal has more of a structured feel, usually with a more glorified sound with more emphasis on the keyboard - ie Sonata Arctica's Everything fades to gray

My little sister told me to search this up 'cause she thought it was like Nightwish. It actually seems to be more like Within Temptation. Not that that's a bad thing. Definitely a band worth listening to.
When I uploaded it, it was more HQ than the other versions already here, but I agree with you. It's far from HQ now :P
