A big thank you for all who participated in the video, you rock!
    LYRICS
    "I'm walking with Sophie tonight
She lives in the air that I breathe
I can't get it out of my mind
how you were left to bleed
    Was it how you dressed
    or how you act
    I can't believe
how they could act so violently
    without regret
    well, we will not forget
    We are the others
    we are the cast-outs
    we're the outsiders
    but you can't hide us
    we are the others
    black-eyed and battered
you're not out there on your own
    If you feel mistreated
    torn and cheated
    you are not alone
    we are the others
As simple as air in your lungs
as simple as words on your lips
And no one should take that away
    no one should argue this
Now with our heads up high
    we'll carry on
    and carry out
that we won't let them get us down
    or wear us out
    'cause we are not alone
    We are the others
    we are the cast-outs
    we're the outsiders
    but you can't hide us
    we are the others
    we are the cast-outs
you're not out there on your own
    If you feel mistreated
    torn and cheated
    you are not alone
    we are the others
    Normal is not the norm
    It's just a uniform
    (we are the others)
    Forget about the norm
    (we're the outsiders)
    Take off your uniform
    (we are the others)
    We are all beautiful
    We are the others"

I think it's worth mentioning that Sophie Lancaster stood in front of her boyfriend and took most of the beating, so her boyfriend survived. Now she lives on in in this beautiful song drawing attention to things like this. If you ask me, that's worth a seat in Valhalla. Her death certainly wasn't in vain. I usually only say that about particularly accomplished war veterans. Huge respect to Lancaster, huge respect to this band.

Sophie and her boyfriend Rob were targeted by teens for their looks. Rob was the first to be attacked by all five boys. To the point he was badly bleeding and unconscious Sophie managed to get in between. She cradled him on her lap screaming out to witnesses for help. Then two of the boys Ryan Herbert and Brendan Harris turned on her. She was repeatedly kicked in the head and body. She also had her face stamped and jumped on multiple times. When they were done they fled leaving Sophie and Rob on the floor unresponsive and bleeding. Witnesses soon found them and called for ambulances. When the paramedics did arrive they at first couldn’t tell who was the male and who was the female. Because of the amount of bleeding swelling and bruising on their faces. They were sent to hospital in deep comas and placed on life support. Fortunately Robert showed signs of improvement and eventually woke up. But Sophie’s injuries were far to severe she was brain damaged. So as a result her life support machine was turned off and she died.

This is still one of the most powerful songs that is completely and 100% inclusive. Black, White, Nerd, Outcast, Goth..... doesn't matter. We are all one.
When are we ALL going to get past the judgement? And before you think that you don't judge anyone.... when was the last time you used the name Karen in a joke?
When was the last time you sneered at someone wearing a Trump hat? When was the last time you looked down on someone wearing a Biden/Kamala shirt?
We are all human, we all make mistakes. We should never be defined by our mistakes. We also all grow.....

Get real, bimbo! 😂 It's a song! The world is full of judgment and prejudice...you know why? Because it's an evolutionary instinct to discriminate and to form clear group identity. You can't treat the world world as your friends, my little angel 😇😂😂😂
The most three hugging hippie, discriminates as well!

    • @Wolf-ln1ml

I think that's a good bit too generalizing. Yes, we all are human and make mistakes and (tend to) grow. But _in order to grow,_ we need to know that we made a mistake. We very rarely notice on our own, we need others to point those mistakes out in some way or another. Can we all be more kind in how we point those mistakes out? Yeah, definitely. But we must not stop judging, or we'll lose our ability as a group/society/species to _learn_ from our mistakes and grow.

I've said this many times before. But it is true. Hatred to others is bad. But we wouldn't hate upon others if we would just ask what other people feel like. These days if we don't fit into a certain area of other peoples perspective on life then they hate us. This is what was the main reason of why Sophie is gone. She and her boyfriend didn't fit into someone's liking and thus were attacked, but Sophie made a powerful sacrifice, she protected the one she loved at the cost of her own life. Thus is why she is my hero. This is what I say after I tell others of her and her story. "I am Kiba Spirit Walker, I am autistic and ADHD, I am Sophie, and I am proud of who I am no matter what anyone thinks or says about me."

Charlotte read about this case in an article a few years after the incident. She wrote the song but did not want to release it without consent of her parents so she contacted the Sophie Lancaster foundation. It is pure luck that the person who answered the call was a huge Delain fan who had just been to one of their UK concerts a couple of days earlier. Her parents are in the clip holding up photo in the first part of the clip.

I had heard the song before, but never paid attention to the lyrics and never realised before what it was about.
I now watched this video for the first time and I can't strop watching it again and again. The moment that guy holds up that "Asperger" sign I burst in tears. Seeing that sign associated with Charlotte singing "you are not alone" means the world to me.
I just had the worst day at work and I felt so alone. No one knows I've got Asperger's, what's the point telling them? They don't even know what it actually means. They'll still think I'm lazy, too sensitive, too weak and incompetent. I've heard a colleague use the word "autistic" as an insult before... I know in what sort of place I am.

But this song reminds us that for every horrible person there are more good people. Brave of her mother to go to schools and do assemblies, educating kids about what happened and I was sad to not see that assembly, but my brother saw it. My whole family have been victims of bullying, my mum most of all, and to see someone making a song in memory of someone who died as a result of bullying of the worst kind, it really restores your faith in humanity. To those of you out there getting bullied, stay strong. You'll grow from it. Don't take it out on yourself. Challenges in life are how you grow stronger. You just need to believe that instead of letting it tear you down. Think if every insult as a hammer pounding on a hot chunk of metal. May not look like much but in the future you'll have a pretty sick sword or battle axe.

Love this song. When I heard this for the first time I was breakdown. Because reminded me that I was bullied because I was more quiet, and because of it I am still struggling with low confidence. This song helped me a lot accepting myself and not to hate myself. The singer, Charlotte Wessles is also beautiful :) :)

Since early youth, I've always been an outcast. This song pulls very personal heart strings.
The tragedy this song was written about is devastating, but also not surprising. It is often the "normally" dressed that engage in criminally psychotic behavior.

Today is the 6th year anniversary death of Sophie. Its so upsetting when time goes so fast cos the pain of a life cut short is so not a scar that never heals. Thoughts go to the victims of any one who has ever lost anyone too short when they didn't need to. This song is good to remind us all to stand strong and not to give into pear pressure when there are dark times were we feel we need to!

There's the sensible part of me bowing her head in honour of Sophie.
And then there's the part of me that's yelling at the sensible part. She's saying "IMAGINE ALL THE PAPER CUTS THEY HAD BEFORE THE VIDEO WAS FINALISED. IMAGINE HOW MUCH PAIN THEY PUT THEMSELVES THROUGH SO YOU COULD BOW YOUR HEAD IN MEMORY"
That part of me is the Camelot of my mind.

Yes, i think they are asked for the clip by Martijn Westerholt. Martijn is the brother of former bandmate Robert from Within Temtation and Martijn was years ago, band member of Within Temptation, but had to stop because he got mononucleosis. When he recovered, he started the band Delain.

It's so great that a group of artists think about this subject, it's so rarely today, and a few person know that it's a very serious cause...
The case of Sophie should NEVER happened, but the society thinks different, and if you're not like every one, you're persecuted, ashamed, humiliated and so many bad things I don't want to remember...Lucky persons know how to defend themselves but others, not always, they need help, support and a very strong moral.
Let us doing all we want to do, the society can't forbid us to be ourself in any case in the world.
So, thank you Delain to do a song to talk about this, and I hope that the lyrics will make reflect the listeners and changed a few the (stupid) mentalities who the majority have.
