Rag Kaunsi Kanada
Kaunsi Kanada combines melodic features from two rags: Malkauns and the kanada group of rags, Malkauns is a pentatonic raga, using the notes Sa Ga-flat Ma Dha-flat Ni-flat.
With the Ma as vadi (note of special importance). Kaunsi Kanada preserves these features of Malkauns, including the time of performance around midnight, and adds the two remaining degrees of the scale: Re and Pa, which are both natural. The full scale is then the same as that of Darbari (kanada):
