Compelely understand the corcern about the young birds picking on Flash. He is such a docile bird.
I have 3 roosters, and 2 juvenile roosters (cockerels). So way too many for the hens I have. (I sold a TON of chickens, but the people I sold to didn't want the roosters) I am looking to trade some of these guys for more ladies, I just haven't had the chance to get in touch with the local chicken trades around my area.
The water bottle hot glued to the thermometer is a great idea but it might still fall over, adding water or rocks would give it some weight so it won't fall over.
Here's to hoping I'm wrong, and those juveniles are females.
The sound did get muffled a bit while you were talking but I could still make out what you were saying for the most part.

The rocks are a good idea. I need to place it further back in the coop so the chickens will be able to get in and out easily.
I need to do that with the outdoor thermometer too./
In the Auction world, one can 'pair up' each male with a female so as to get rid of them.
My auctioneer friend (Lauralynn from Feral Women)told me that's the way they do it.
I had to buy the males to get the Sebright females I got when I got Henrietta.
      Are your roosters getting along?

@@jgunn03 That's interesting, I did not know that auctions pair up males and females like that, but it would make sense if they were selling as a breeding pair.
Yes, my roosters all get along fairly well, I just worry this coming spring that they will over breed my hens, so I need to separate or trade them so that isn't the case.
How many roosters did you have when you had all the chickens in the 'barn'? And did they get along?

I'm glad you rosters get along.
I have had some get along, but they kept their distance from each other.
I think I might have had 4 roosters at the most at one time.
I have had a roo (I remember my Buckeye rooster specifically) or two come after me. Once they start attacking, they don't stop.
I have had many rosters not get along with each other.
I once had a banty (red jungle fowl) who would attack every heavy agreed rooster he saw. And he was out to unalive!
Had to get rid of him.

@@jgunn03 I've found that my roosters only attack when I haven't pay enough attention to them or if they are hurting and in pain. But sometimes they are just in a really sour mood, or just have aggressive tendencies like Malays or jungle fowl.

My Buckeyes were the very first set of chickens I ever had.
I later learned that some breeds are notoriously aggressive, and Buckeye was one of the breeds that are like that.
I was afraid of getting a rooster for a long time after that.
I think a lot of people don't realize that some breeds are more aggressive than others. I didn't until months after I finally was able to get rid of that Buckeye rooster.
I think the Jungle Fowl breed isn't domesticated enough to be docile. And I think some people use the roosters as fighting birds.
Flash was in a spell of attacking me a couple months ago.
I now think it was cuz Henrietta was making a clutch.
He's now not attacking me anymore.
He doesn't hurt when he attacks as he's not built for that. It was annoying though.
