Dude that's really cool. But when I saw your Idea I thought of only one thing. See Im all about lighting and that is perfect,, I took your idea and then put tape lighting in that channel all the way around the room color changing on a dimmer, voice command it looks like the lights are coming down from inside the ceiling. Bangin! Thanks
Thats great and I hope you used an aluminum bead. If not, that's quite close to fire hazard since LED strip heats up quite a bit. Worst case scenario since it will not be able to cool, the LED strip will die on you quickly. Here in Europe we use aluminum profiles only for LED solutions for the reasons listed. Other than that, that's what I wanna do on the floor and ceiling on my next project. Looks great. 😊
In their example yes there is a gap. If it has to be a fire rated assembly this would fail. However it is cool. If one were to do this on a wall with blown in insulation above that would need to be caulked to prevent dirt and dust from blowing in from the attic.
agree with you, that small hair line gap between wall board and bead edge needs to be worked with, otherwise dust from ceiling void will come inside the room. they need to invent a better system with vertical leg flush with wall board.
Nice. Just wish that there were some closeups, and less camera movement… very busy shots make it difficult to focus on the details; but the project looks great. Thanks for sharing
I'm not a builder but I can't imagine that would pass code. I think they really need another layer of drywall on the ceiling. I'd love to hear TT address this.
We are actually in the middle of a project. We have a few areas in our home where the ceiling and wall meet the seam cracks. This has been a reoccurring problem. I'm wondering if this would help. Also I love the look
It would certainly ‘help’ in that the two areas don’t technically connect with this method. The company that makes this bead also makes products specifically to allow for movement between different wall assemblies, which sounds like it might be right up your alley. We have a video on that product (called magic bead), and I’ll also add a link to the product below. You should browse some of their different options, as well- they have beads for virtually every situation you can think of 👍 our video: ua-cam.com/video/eLmXOPaRZuY/v-deo.html product link: www.trim-tex.com/products/magic-corner?:+Branded+%7C+Search&hsa_acc=8242205374&hsa_cam=19745985295&hsa_grp=148098205322&hsa_ad=649745219906&hsa_src=g&hsa_tgt=kwd-303378989494&hsa_kw=trim%20tex%20magic%20corner&hsa_mt=b&hsa_net=adwords&hsa_ver=3&gclid=CjwKCAjwq-WgBhBMEiwAzKSH6HGcIWNvMRldsEUDUa7Tkx2ER8qWWQv_awwtsEm5bTjnHY8IMAp-GxoCziQQAvD_BwE
Hey Guys, I’ve removed our old cornice and there are some gashes / rough points. If I sand back and apply this with plaster, will it come out okay? Or do we need new board in that section?
Nice work. Do you leave the tapered edge of the wall boards flushed with the ceiling trusses? Wondering if the tapered edge maybe needs to be trimmed, so it's easier/cleaner to install the bead.
Great question 👍 in our experience it doesn’t make as big of a difference as you’d think it would. If the backing that is adjacent to the bead goes high enough, the slight change in bead angle due to the bevel is almost undetectable. In an ideal situation, you’d have a whole perimeter of non-tapered edges, but in most cases that’s not just not possible 👍
This doesn’t seem functional. What happens when something spills in the floor. The baseboards aren’t sealed on the bottom and you cut into the drywall. What is behind it making it water proof? What about keeping bugs out? What about insulation? I understand it presses against the floor, but that doesn’t create a seal. There is zero weather stripping, just nothing. When you apply baseboards they go on top of the drywall which acts as an insulation barrier and then you caulk it to seal the top. And you literally cut into that barrier on the bottom making it vulnerable, and then You don’t seal the bottom of your floor.
Alrighty, time for me to be a douchebag and say some mean things. Don't take into account that I am an actual home inspector up here where I live and cars are my hobby. Ever heard of leaving the garage unfinished but you have to at least fire tape it. Well that means all walls and ceilings must be joined together to prevent fire spread. So when a fire breaks out it helps contain the fire. That being said you cannot cut your ceiling open on the edges and apply a 1/16" thick piece of vinyl and just butt it to the side wall leaving tiny gaps which you could see in the video even if you caulked that tiny gap its still against code because caulk isn't a firestop. That is totally against code in any state, in any room in the house even under your staircase in the basement. Ok smarty what could you have done to make this legal you ask. Simply just finish the inside joint with mud and paper like usual then add another 1/2" layer of drywall in the mid section allowing the outer edges to remain code compliant and fire safe. On a side note if you did do it how you did it. You now have a seam indent around the entire top of the room being you didn't fill in the top 2.5" with mud as you would around the middle of the room where the drywall is compressed to allow for paper and mud. Besides all that, it came out looking pretty nice. Illegal but nice looking. Welcome to UA-cam. LOL Please leave a comment below if you disagree with code.

Why cut after installing drywall rather than installing smaller panel
Question. Is there a gap between the upright wall and the ceiling/Z bead. As in how do you cover the 90 degree angle? Hope I’m exposing myself right

Did you use special limewash paint to get the effect on the walls or how did you get the limewash result?
It’s more of a faux Venetian plaster. We have a full tutorial on that! It’s super easy.
Look for “Textured Wall Finish” on our page!
Hi, very nice finish, what is the spray can? Is it 847 trim Tex adhesive? Could you please confirm.
You nailed it. Consider it confirmed 👍
How did you cut the drywall on the ceiling and your hair and clothing remain dust free?
That Makita drywall cutout tool is incredible
Did you paint the Z channel afterwards? Can you buy it in black?
We painted it👍 it only comes in white
Firewall issue ?

Did you use marmorino on the walls as a finish???

Could this z bead be used for the base board to create the shadow Reveal?
You read our mind! Except we used an F-bead. You’ll see that video on our page too!
@@RefreshHomeImprovements I watched it like 10x lol which made me wonder if the z bead is ideal for base boards too. Thank you for the great content!

@@RefreshHomeImprovements Im curioius, if you were to need to trim the edges, what's the best way to go about it? Also great job on the installation!
Hello someoane have this PVC profile în Europa?
Cane someoane gaide me where I find this, I am from România.
Please help! 😢

Very anti crown molding lol
