love this neighbourhood thinking about all those people lived amazing.
Wonderful place and wonderful people. 99.7 % of civilian population of Western Countries are COWARDS completely beaten down and hood-winked by the SYSTEM.. NOT THESE WONDRFUL PEOPLE. VIBRANT and FULL of LIFE PEOPLE.
The timeline mentioned - 1960 to 1969 - is wrong. British troops weren't deployed in NI until 1969.
Even the dog @ 3:19 got knee capped. Probably dead now.
Yea. Dog is now Doggo and it wasn't the kneecapping. The locals were expert masters of that particular art - even the proverbial dogs on Etna Drive/ Brompton Park.
No SLR in the shoulder, no hard targeting. Early days.
Agreed. So casual walking into the mill ( Flax street) one guy takes his mag off while still outside unbelievably, we were there in 76 and we moved far quicker than that.
Early 1970's. Oldpark area. Etna Drive. Really bad days. Really bad area. Close to anarchy. One end of street burning the other end of street. Bad. Bad. Bad days.
Excuse me..that's Ardoyne and it was a great area to live in even through the troubles..
@@SuperPOGMAHON it was a hole then and it's a hole now.
I was burnt out over their old park
where do people find footage like this? is there some website
Paths news UA-cam site.
yea but is there any websites?
Matt Dynes
Pathe News' website has tons of archived videos, but hardcopy is right, their UA-cam channel is just as good.
Very early on, wire mesh gates instead of plate steel
I was just thinking those gates looked a bit insubstantial.
@3:57 Teddy Boy. Lol.. Standing against the wall.
Anyone get enough time to catch the cap badge they are wearing? Would like to know what Regiment/Bn they are from
Not 100% sure but it might be queens regiment judging by the blue beret
@@MildMartian The Queen's Regiment were the first into Belfast in 1969
@@coolmacatrain9434 indeed they were, however this video is not from 1969. The title is wrong. This would be mid 70s due to the 1968 pattern dpm uniforms and the m69 flak jackets
@@MildMartian Virtually all the infantry were wearing blue then. The move to khaki took place in the 80/90s. Only the Fusiliers and the POW Division resisted.
Cowards with guns, gert out of OUR country, fk off home u scu.
Your dates are wrong.
Things look way more relaxed, probably 1969, before things got really out of hand in the early 1970s
The Troops didn't come in until summer 1969 .
1960 ?????
when he goes pass the lady standing by her gate he turns around I would have too she has that look
02:12 He's looking at that window with the partially drawn curtains as well, before noticing the woman.
Better days when I had my slr with me in Belfast and Londonderry 2 para 1980 to 92
My Gran and Granda my mum and dad and uncles and aunties got marched out of their homes at gunpoint and my uncles went back at night and set their houses on fire so they wouldn't be moving anyone in for a long time.
You a loyalist or a republican?
Не помню, чтобы нам такое показывали в то время. Берегли психику.
Praying for a free united Ireland.
Wanting to get tfk out of there and back home to UK.
War zone
Sad times for Irish population because of the violent British troops and Police services (RUC and USC) !
Don't forget the terrorist basterds of the ira
All over the same God. Now if that doesn't say anything about religion
learn about Irish history, then you would not make that remark, very little to do with religion, its all to do with the Occupied six counties.
@@chrismullan7191 I grew up in Derry

It's about my national identity too Irish or British can't be both.
