Buzzworthy Designs: Principles of user experience turn fashion into fantasy.

Lorena Lopez, lecturer of interactive media at the University of Miami School of Communication, applies principles of user experience design through her work as costume designer for the Arsht Center’s production of “The Busy Bees’ Great Adventure.” The performance is part of the Adrienne Arsht Center’s Learning Through the Arts program that aims to educate students third through fifth grades about the importance of preserving the environment. Lopez said that in conceptualizing and creating the garments for the performers, she had to keep in mind “How can the costumes that I create best meet the needs of who’s wearing it.” She also kept the show’s theme of conservation in mind during her creative process by using material that could be recycled or upcycled.
