This is real sad. Gangbangers are defeatist. I grew up in Delmann Heights from 1962-1980. A real decent neighborhood that suffered from discrimination through redlining and lack of opportunities. A young man came up to me at a Cajon High school reunion. He told me how my mom walked him home through gang country. No one messed with my mom because most of the bangers had been in my mother's class at California school. He told me my mom told him how to survive and how I played college football and became a lawyer. He is now an engineer. I found most of the bangers were from backgrounds where their families had given up. It's easy for Black people in San Bernardino to give up. However, you just can't quit. I was saddend to see the desecration of the community center, a place we fought for in the 1960's. What a shame. Real brave. Being a banger is nothing to brag about. I have yet to see a successful artist, rapper, whatever from there and I have represented many. Suck it up. You guys have more advantages than I did. That rapper in the video looked like such a tool of the white man. Again, real sad.
Thats an incredible story man. Your mom is a legend and thats so inspiring to hear! Too bad no one is listening here. Going right over their heads. The Dino area is so cheap to purchase land and no outside investors want to touch it, so its a perfect opportunity for the Black residents to buy it all up. Just need a few smart Black internet entrepreneurs, but the allure of the hip hop dream is too overpowering. Yet how many mainstream rappers have we seen come out of the area in the past 20 years? That would be ZERO San Bernardino rappers!! You're so right man, this shit is so incredibly sad.

I just hate seeing people who look like me embracing ignorance and giving in to their fear. They are the tools of the White supremacist. If being a banger is so great why do they NEVER have money when they need a lawyer? They usually do not take care of their kids and their baby mommas get welfare. If they do not speak English they need a court-appointed lawyer and an interpreter. Then they complain about all the free help they get. Very few OG crips or bloods or whatever had money and a long life not in prison. BE SMART! Don't be a banger. It is a life for dummoies.
Nights talking about being discriminated but this is the reason why no one likes them because instead of helping their neighborhood grow they destroy it
It's crazy to see all of this because before I went to Delman Heights in 1980, there was no blood there. I was sent there by my father from LA because he was trying to save my life. I took my hood there and created something I never could have imagined. I guess I can be credited for all of the blood gangs as well as Crips that rose up from that point until today. Ironically I stopped gang banging in or around 1987, and began doing just the opposite; trying to stop gang violence, but the news continued coming in...San Bernardino became the murder capital of America. Now here we are caught in the crossroads of gang violence all over southern California. I know the solution, but will we explore it? Talk to me, I'm the Gang Doc.
can you give a history of the gangs that have been in Delmann Heights? I've spoken to a few people and read some history. They used to have a gang called the Ghost Town Crips in Delmann Heights in the 70's, which I believe died out in the late 70's or early 80s. when they became defunct, the DHB's formed in the early 80s.
