Big Stan's backhand is one of the most beautiful things in sport. The fact he can go cross court or down the line with almost total disguise is incredible.
just a little practice..

Stan's backhand is one of the most beautiful things in tennis.
Sachin - I feel like the do different things. Fed has nuance and artistry while Stan can punch through a wall. Both amazing. But I’d prob take Stan’s. Interestingly I think Henin is a combination of both which is why hers was so highly rated.
So true!!!!!
@@Ineddiblehulk Fed's is actually extremely fast when he rips through it. He can get up to around 100 mph. I've yet to see a speed reading of Stan that exceeds that mark (though I wouldn't be surprised if there is one).
Agreed
by far
Wawrinka is so underrated, a lot of people outside of tennis don't even know who he is but he's a real quality player, one of the best of the decade.
For me, he is overrated. I know, that he won 3 GS's, but overall he started playing quality tennis at the age of 28, since the end of 2013 till the half of 2017. He was ranked in top 10 5x, Murray 9x, Djokovic 12x, Roger 17x, Nadal 15x, Tsonga 6x, Berdych 7x. I don't think Stan is much better than Tsonga or Berdych, but for sure much worse than the Big 3 plus Andy.
Agreed he’s very underrated.
@@TheDymeR he beat prime Djokovic in final Australia open and final Roland Garros, how many player that can beat prime Djokovic in 2 consecutive years in a row? I don't think he's overrated but highly inconsistent. When he's on fire nothing can stop him.
@@felixyatin8086 When Kyrgios is on, is also very dangerous and beat Djokovic 2 times out of 2 matches.
@@TheDymeR did he beat prime Djokovic in 2 Gran slams final in a row?
Stan is my favorite player
STAN the MAN!
Nerves of steel .. especially in Finals! Joy to watch!
he's called "the man of big matches"
He's got cold nerves.
The best single handed backhand groundstroke there is. Can hit winners and angles from anywhere, from any height, with immense power and control. 👌🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Steve Michael i think gasquet got a better one
Augustin Abraham, Nah m8. Stan is the backhand GOAT
Jimnosnow 4 stan have a powerful one, but gasquet have a backhand for which he can produce more topsin and pace with incredible angles. Only problem is he needs less than half a second more for that stroke
You will so hate me for this, but according to stats, Thiem's the best. Stan attacks a bit more often with the bh than Thiem, but Thiem's attack-winner-percentage is a bit higher and his bh is also significantly faster than Stan's (in all categories, his average bh speed and his average bh winner speed and his fastest bh (which happens to be the record with 104 mph, followed by Nadal and Gasquet with both 103 mph)
@@juliannaser4017 interesting stuff. I have not looked into the stats to that degree but they always throw up interesting tidbits. I think the winner to error ratio will be better for Thiem because he is not as aggressive as Stan. Also Stan has gone off the rails in last couple of years since his injuries so has lost a lot of matches. The stats no doubt include the recent years in decline. Thiem on the other hand has been on the rise last couple of years and is in his prime right now. Worth bearing in mind, it is not all about power either. Stan’s backhand is so good because of the angles and power combination. Also the control and depth and ability to change direction. I know if I could have any one players single hander, it would be Stan the man!
Notice how some of his best shots are against the likes of Nadal, Federer and Djokovic? Best players bring the best out of Stanimal.
kwl189, He’s a big match player
because against them he must play that kind of shots, if he want to win points ;)
Stan the man 💪
Stan's win against Djokovic in the French Open final was possibly the best match I've ever seen. Nadal would have had his hands full with Stan that day.
John Dunlap agreed. He was a monster that day. In all reality he should have won in straight sets. He lost the first set on a few loose shots here and there.
Wawrinka can exchange in diagonal with Rafa's forehand and even win the rally.. Overall his must be the most unreal backhand in history. Powerful, accurate, versatile and solid. Amazing.
Hasn't really worked out for him vs Rafa in reality tho, has it? But I agree his backhand is amazing.
@@grimsonNope and that makes me like him even more, altogether with his winning record against Djokovic.
@@dachampions 6-20 is winning?
@@lukeinvictus69 Djokovic was at his peak on Clay at this time and he could have troubled even the greatest Nadal on Clay just look even if Nadal wasn't at his prime he was still on Clay there beaten by Wavrinka in the 1/4. He won 3-1 in final against Djoko and would have won 95-100% of Nadal in RG finals... he had the best back hand ever in history at this time we aren't talking consistency here but a precise moment where he was just the greatest ever.

It did work against Nadal during this period of 3 years sir.
It's THE shot that brings a smile to every tennis fan's face
Wawrinka’s backhand is the most beautiful and brutal thing that i have ever seen in tennis !!’
Un stoppable when he is in good mood. My favorite tennis player.
Stan Warinka has the most lethal and exquisite backhand.
The man known for his ridiculously paced and angled backhands and dominant shots..a humble human being..wishing you a very happy b'day.
-Fan
Actually the video contains some of his rare shots..
The footwork, the preparation, the backhand goodness, the motion, the gesture, the finish, the touch: so good to watch
The fact my tennis coach uses him as an example is a great example of your statement. It's simple yet elegant
Best backhand in tennis history (IMO).
I agree
Federer has the best backhand...
Look up Lendl's backhand
Gasquet
@@Born2Punch hahaa you only watch highlights of Fedex I guess
It’s the perfect backhand. The short angels cross court, the power he gets, the way he can decide to pull the trigger down the line whenever he wants. One of the most dangerous/beautiful shots in tennis
I love Stan, He is pure class, and a gentleman.
I can watch his backhands all day long) insane angles and immense power. The best one in the tour!
Nothing can elude Wawrinka to make a perfect backhand. It's STAN THE MAN.
So satisfying to watch
Best backhand everrrrr
Joe Bhoyroo right on 💪
Wawrinka definitely has the best one hander in the game. Not only are these shots amazing but it's against mostly the big 3 lol. Just shows you this guy is no joke.
He has a terrible record against those guys. His backhand is definitely amazing tho.

By far the most entertaining player I’ve seen. He should be incredibly proud of his career
So talented! Absolutely my favourite stably over the years
Stan Wawrinka and Denis Shapovalov are my favorite backhands to watch. Bar none. If you didn't watch them swing, you'd swear it was a forehand coming across the net. They can deliver crippling power at absurd angles off both wings and that's something that very few players can do. It's breathtaking to watch.
Shapo’s backhand is very pretty, but on average he generates a lot less pace and depth than his own forehand. He only occasionally finds the time to rip a huge one. Wawrinka’s average backhand genuinely has forehand levels of pace and depth.
My sentiments exactly.
These backhands are lethal for 3 reasons:
The angle
The power
Ball goes on to or right next to the line
One of the best tennis players ever.magic backhand and incredibile peak performances
You have to love Stan's backhand. It's simply beautiful.
Imagine Del Po' s Monster Forehand and Stan the Man' s Monster Backhand together in one guy.
You could post the same video without Stan Wawrinka in the title
Nice. Agree.
The single handed backhand of Wawrinka. The double handed backhand of Djokovic. The forehand of Federer. The overhead and serve of Sampras. The volley of Federer. The movement of Djokovic. The endurance of Nadal.
That might be me
Nope, perhaps Alcaraz has listened your request😅
Del potro's forehand
This is so glorious.
This video is not complete without the out-of-the-net backhand against Nole in the 2015 RG final
No Grand Slams shots in here... It's an ATP video. ;)
@@PapaDudeness lmao true
6onza Read my mind, this video isnt worthy for not having such a precise shot
Agreed..
The angle at 1:24 is just... Beautiful
Woah that backhand has power, and consitansy
Stan's backhand and González' forehand.
Just wonderful!
I love you Stan !!
Greatest single handed BH ever. Because of that surprise element, I love powerful single handers better than double handers
With single hand you get more reach.
With two hand you limit your self.
Prime Wawrinka backhand 🐐
Nothing compares
Stan The Man, uno de mis ídolos en el tenis y el jugador que me inspira a hacer revés a una mano...sin duda dentro los 5 mejores de Backhand a una mano de la historia.
Just imagine how solid your shoulder has to be for that !
You forgot one of his most powerful backhands.... I remember against Nadal in Rome
3:32 WOW
Stan deserves more grand slam wins
Well his forehand is as lethal as his backhand !
Work of art
admiration and appreciation, that's only thing I can do
You have to love his backhand
this and delpo forehand are my favorite shots!!
As much as I love Thiem's bh now, prime Wawrinka BH was godly.
Geez that's awesome
Stan's backhand is so awesome :)
I love this guy
Stan the Man 💪
Really, his is the best backhand in ATP today.
there is so much power and consistency, just woah.
Never really noticed how good his backhand was. Holy crap. That spin he puts on it. How he can disguise it too.
Stanimal gave me motivation to learn onehanded backhand. Now I play backhand slide only.
Best backhand in tennis history.
Wawrinka, as well as Thiem, have amazingly fast racket-head speed, which make them so different and exciting
Best backhand in the world
This guy is talented!
Magic back hand
Beauty and the beast
The best backhand in tennis history, simply amazing, he has two forehands in his raquet
Maguslloret Munoz you’re right on 👍
The best backhand in the tour 😮❤
Hands down best backhand
The most interesting player in the tour in my opinion
The SPECIALIST!!👌👌👌
Prime Wawrinka’s backhand winners are a thing of beauty, if not humanly possible the best there will ever be?
Underrated tennis player
If Federer had Wawrinka backhand...
Tao Paille-Paille 2017 fed
Federer's backhand was always great, and in some cases better than Wawrinka (like slices, drop shots, change of directions).
The problem is his mentality/confidence.
Federer's backhand is better than Wawrinka's what are you talking about ?? He has the more variety and has been way more consistent with it in his career .
@@anisbougrab4725 ¿Variety? I've never seen Wawrinka take the ball early all the time like Federer does, or hit slices like Federer does, or drop shots, or half-volleys, or volleys.
Also, tactically Federer is better.
The only things Wawrinka's backhand is better, are raw power and consistency (due to his technique).
I think Federer's backhand is actually bad. If Federer had Wawrinka's backhand he would be simply unstoppable.
stan the man
Stan The Man :-)
There are many views in tennis that are debatable ( who is the best ever, best to watch, best serve etc etc ). One thing that is not debatable is who has the best one handed Backhand ever. Stan has so far put that argument to rest. Dead and buried so far under it's oozing shale oil! I wish him back. Really miss his ability to create fear and doubt in Novak and Rafa.
love when people claim absolutes when the stats say otherwise. aesthetically and subjectively, no doubt one of the best. trying to claim inarguable best when there are higher speeds and winner percentages from others is just plain bias. cheers though~
"BOOMSHKI" - Robbie Koenig.
How much I'd give to see him back in shape... I was supportive back then, bloody knee operation...
Stanimal, I miss you so much! :'(
Indeed sir - a world class backhand (3:07). This is the ATP World Tour. ;)
Damm, im gonna really miss seeing this 1HBH on the tour!
Only thing about Stan is his consistency in his level of play. He should have won a lot more slams. As for his backhand, unmatched in power and precision
I like it👍
Its too easy man!😂
His range of shots using the backhand is effortless. Stanislas🔥
Maybe the best one handed backand ever
pbonacina69 you’re completely right there no one hits more backhand winners in a all match than Stand
not maybe...its totally for sure
Stan does it the best
If Stan was consintent during all of his career instead of just the big 3 we would be talking about the big 4 ( Federer , Nadal , Djokovic and Wawrinka ) .... For me Stan is the second most talented tennis player that i ever watched only behind Federer
The best one handed backhand vs the best two handed backhand!
For the two hander of Marin Cilic is impressive.
Dimitrov VS Wawrinka.. the 2 most beautiful backhands of the 2010s.. playing gainst each other.. Nice!
one hand backhand goals
The first time I watched Stan was actually all the way back in 2010 when I bought tickets to the Aussie Open in Melbourne and he obliterated Andy Roddick with that backhand
Best backhand of all time
Gustavo Kuerten I guess
The shot at 3:32 is one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen
Sjajan je igrač
Big fan of Stan! Only he could hang and beat the big 3 in their prime. I think Stan has the best single-handed backhand on tour.
Hands down, the best single-handed backhand of all time.
Without question one of the best backhands in tennis. Reminds me of Lendl at his best.
You're comparing Lendl's backhand with Stan's?! I've watched LOTS of Lendl - and his backhand rarely reached Stan's level of lethalness.
It’s cool when he hits the passing shot that is the same pace as the last ten shots but the placement breaks composure and he just finishes up
Favorite one handed backhand are Wawrinka, Federer, Thiem, Haas, Dimitrov, Gasquet to name a few..
His backhand is the stuff of movies.
Just unreal.
